3 Things You Should Never Do For Your Kids

Most parents have no problem spoiling their child on birthdays and Christmases, but when the act becomes a demanding routine, you have probably gone too far with the pampering. When a child becomes spoiled at an early age and gets everything she desires, she will feel unsatisfied at a young age. This in turn causes him/her to want more and push the envelope past her boundaries in regards to her age group. Even the child that has “everything” will search for the next conquest to satisfy her boredom or desires. A negative setback that also occurs in a child that gets everything she wants is that she doesn’t quite learn the lesson of valuing, earning, or saving money, which in turn could cause future hardships with family, friends, and within herself.

Never Let Them Eat Whatever They Want

While cruising the grocery store, your child may grab at or request a variety of sweets and treats that are sure to send him to sugar-high heaven in a matter of seconds. When you indulge your child in whatever piece of candy or bag of potato chips he desires, you are only fueling the makings of poor eating habits and childhood obesity. Often, children who eat whatever they want establish a poor diet, exercise less, suffer from more cavities, and are more susceptible to illness.

Never Reward Bad Behavior

Let’s say your little one has her eye set on eating a candy bar before dinner and you have constantly told her no. As she continues to beg and plead, soon the requests turn into demands and in the middle of Aisle 4, you are dealing with a full-fledge temper tantrum that can be heard across the store. It might be an embarrassing occurrence, but just because your child enters a fit in the middle of the supermarket, doesn’t mean you should give in and reward her bad behavior just to have her stay quiet. Not only will you teach her that she can get what she wants by misbehaving, but you will also weaken your authority as a parent.
