A Healthy Colon Helps Make A Healthy Person
It is said that ‘death begins in the colon’. The colon has been called the mother of all the organs. When it is not performing properly, the whole body suffers. Over time the colon becomes weak and has a hard time eliminating fecal matter. Uneliminated fecal matter begins to decay, releasing toxins and poisonous gases that seep into the blood and poison all the organs and tissue cells.
Almost everything we eat now is processed and has chemicals in it. Processed foods are high in saturated fats, sugar, flour, and preservatives, and low in fiber. Fiber is essential for a healthy colon.
It is estimated that about 70 million Americans suffer from bowel problems, and at least 2 million suffer from colon related diseases. Many experts believe that the average person has 5 to 20 pounds of accumulated fecal matter in their colon. A major study done by the Royal Society of Medicine found that a dysfunctional colon is the major contributor of 85% of all disease and illness.
Some underlying illnesses from colon toxicity are acid reflux, acne, allergies, arthritis, back pain, bad breath, blood pressure problems, body odor, bulging abdomen, chronic illnesses, cholesterol problems, frequent colds and flu, depression, diabetes, digestive problems, fatigue, female problems, fibromyalgia, hemorrhoids, irritable bowel syndrome, immune deficiencies, joint pain, liver problems, lymph problems, migraine headaches, nutrition deficiency, osteoporosis, premature aging, reproductive problems, ulcers, urinary tract infections, weight problems, and yeast infections.
Diverticulitis is becoming more common, especially in the United States, England and Australia. It is associated with a heavy meat diet and processed foods. Traditionally seen in individuals over 50 years old, it is now being seen in younger, obese adults, some in their early 20’s. Colorectal cancer is the third most commonly diagnosed cancer and the third leading cause of cancer death in both men and women in the United States. In 2008 more than 148,000 people were diagnosed with colorectal cancer and nearly 50,000 people died of the disease.
If that’s not enough, a toxic colon is a breeding ground for parasites. Medical studies estimate that 85-95% of the North American population has at least one form of parasite living in their bodies. There are more parasitic infections in the United States than in Africa. Some practitioners estimate that over 2 pounds of worms and parasites exist in the average person’s body. Parasites feed off the nutrients your body needs to stay healthy. Some parasites cause irritation and interfere with bodily functions, while others destroy tissues and release toxins into the body. Parasites are also a major cause of disease. Chances are if you have a toxic colon, you probably have parasites. (Look for more on parasites in an upcoming article.)
I am saddened by the health of our nation. Not feeling good seems to have become the norm. I’ve seen so many commercials for over-the-counter or prescription drugs that are suppose to help this or help that. If truth be known, they just mask the problem instead of eliminate it. Listing the side effects takes longer than the benefit of the product. Many of these medications either cause or make worse chronic constipation. Then there is the high cost of medical bills. In today’s economy with more people uninsured, that is a heavy burden. Wouldn’t it be so much cheaper to get healthy and stay healthy?
I cannot stress the importance of getting and keeping your colon clean. Daily evacuation of the bowels is of the utmost importance to the maintenance of health. I once heard that the rule of thumb is ‘meal in, meal out’. So, if you want to feel good, have more energy and, in general, live a healthier life, cleanse your colon, cleanse your body of parasites, and switch to a high fiber diet that includes fruits, vegetables, grains, and nuts and seeds. You will be so glad you did.
