3D Glasses set to be released for home use with DVDs and Blu-Ray
Disney studios will make its' debut into the 3D realm in August of 2008,with the release of Hannah Montana & Miley Cyrus:Best of Both Worlds Concert, which will include 3D glasses for home viewing. In July of 2008, the Disney Channel showed this using red-cyan paper 3D glasses.
Very likely, it will employ similar 3D glasses for the Blu-Ray release. The greater clarity of blu-ray, and the learning curve at Disney, has greatly improved red-cyan anaglyph 3D Glasses, especially in relation to close overlay of the 3D images, such as they have followed in their animation projects. It's common for most films by Disney to show much less malregistration in comparision to older 3D techniques.
What makes 3D Anaglyph Glasses function?
3D glasses with the appropriate colored lenses lets you view anaglyphs because each eye sees a picture that's slightly different. In a red-blue anaglyph 3D Glasses, for instance, the eye covered by the red filter sees the red parts of the image as "white", and the blue parts as "black" (Here the brain assists with the disparate images one's eyes are given by adjusting for color)When you cover the eye with the blue filter, you will see the opposite effect. The perception of regions of true white or true black is identical for each eye. Each eye sends an image to the brain, which blends the two together while explaining any discrepancies as being caused by differing distances. This will produce a normal, stereograph image but will not require that the viewer cross his or her eyes.
