Based in Phoenix, Arizona, United States - the Arizona Diamondbacks are a professional baseball team established in 1998. When the team started, Phoenix was already the ninth largest city in the United States. This provides a solid fan base for the Diamondbacks.

Accomplishments and important moments:

1998 - 2002 sees the rise of the Arizona Diamondbacks. In just 5 short seasons, the team has won 3 division titles and one world series (2001). During that year, the team has Randy Johnson and Curt Schilling as two of the most dominant pitchers in baseball.

Although the organization has enjoyed early success, it fell into tough times from 2003 - 2005. In 2004, the Diamondbacks reported a disappointing 51-111 record. This is one of the worst records in baseball history.

On top of that, the Diamondbacks had other important matters to worry about. Its financial health was suffering, and there were over 150 million dollars in deferred compensation owing to key players.

In 2008, the Diamondbacks rewarded the fans by winning the first game against the Cincinnati Reds. In May, they found themselves with one of the best baseball records in MLB: 20-8.

Meanwhile, a lot of activities were going on within the organization. Tony Clark was traded back to the Diamondbacks for a minor league pitcher, Evan Scribner. Dan Haren signed a lucrative four-year contract worth over 40 million dollars. Former World Series MVP David Eckstein was acquired in late August.
