Business Card Printing Killers

One of the costliest business mistakes that companies make is that they try to save money on business card printing. The few cents they may save per business card could very well cost them thousands or tens of thousands of times more money than they saved. In this article, we talk about the specific mistakes that people tend to make with business card printing decisions, and how those mistakes can cost their business in the long run.

Cheap design
Professional graphic designers usually have a great deal of training in the art and science of layout. It takes a special touch and special training to develop business cards that look professional. Many businesses try to develop business cards on their own and the results are often lackluster, at best. When you hand a potential customer a business card with a cheap design, you risk giving them a very poor impression.

Cheap paper
Professional printing firms use special paper of specific weights and textures to produce business cards. Do-it-yourself business card printing kits from the store simply will not produce the same results as a professional printing firm that prints and cuts the paper in-house. Store-bought paper is often flimsy and texture-less so that it can work with lots of different ink jet printers without jamming. This generic feel can leave your customers with a generic impression.

Cheap ink
When a professional printing company runs your business card project through their presses, they use either a digital printing process or offset printing. The ink and toner that they use adhere to the paper much more effectively than an inkjet printer is capable of doing. If you try to print business cards on an inkjet printer, the result can be that your information will smudge very easily. Even contact with your fingers or sitting in your customer’s wallet can result in smudged information.

Don’t make the same mistakes. Business card printing is a long-term strategy for marketing your business. The short term mistake in judgment resulting in cheap business cards can have a long-term effect of reduced business. The few cents you might save per business card is hardly ever worth the long-term potential costs.
