When you walk into a shop make sure the dealer answers all your questions to your satasfaction. I would walk straight out ther door if I was in anyway suspect. Finding a dealer with a very good reputation is essential to purchasing quality memorabilia.

Remember to undertake your research before you go out and purchase that sporting memorbilai you always wanted. Get an idea of the worth in order not to waste your time or the dealers.

Make sure you are clear on how rare an item is. Limited edition does not necessarily mean the same as limited production. Limited edition means one of a kind, limited production means only produced for a short period of time.
It can be hard to return memorabilia. The dealer is unlikely to give the same price you paid for it, even though it's still in mint condition.

You shouldn't have to allow the dealer to dictate which authentication service you can use. A reputable dealer will be fine with your choice. But do understand that authenticators may not specialize in the item you are having checked. If they don't excel in this area, you may be disappointed.
