For healthier recipes and meals, you need to use fresh ingredients. Often the convenient products available are very high in sodium. Using canned vegetables or sauces may not have the same nutrients as fresh vegetables or making your own healthy sauce. Fresh vegetables and fresh herbs will always taste better and be much healthier. When you buy chicken it should be skinless, or you need to take the skin off for a less fatty dish.

How we cook will also influence the amount of fat and calories we add to the dish. We all love that deep fried chicken that is full of calories and fat. We can change how we do this recipe. Instead of deep-frying, we can bread the chicken and lightly brown it in a skillet using a little bit of olive oil or a non-stick spray. It will still be golden brown with less fat. You can simply put it in the oven with some white wine to finish the cooking process. It will be just as tasty, with a lot less fat and calories.

Grilling chicken is also a great healthy alternative. You can marinate the chicken with fresh herbs for flavor, or a lite dressing and grill until cooked. This will create a light and flavorful dish. Simply serve with your favorite fresh vegetables and rice and your meal is complete.

Sauces will make dishes higher in calories and fat. There are easy things you can replace those fatty ingredients to make it healthier. The dairy products you use can be purchased in low fat forms. You can buy skim milk, low fat yogurt to use for sauces. Instead of using butter, you can use margarine. Try to use low sodium broths or stocks to create your sauce. Your dish will have all of those great flavors with a lot less fat and calories. As always, fresh herbs will add great flavors.

You can change all of your favorite recipes to be healthier. They will be just as delicious and healthy at the same time. Follow some of the recommendations and you will love the outcome. There are many recipes that you can use on the internet or look at some healthy cooking books to find new ones. Healthy chicken recipes are not hard to make and everyone will love them.
