Detroit Lions Tickets - Front Office Team Named!

Detroit lions’ team has finally named its coaching and front office staff after the NFL’s 0-16 season. According to the general manager of Detroit lions Martin Mayhew, James Harris has been hired as the new senior personnel executive who will be responsible for evaluating players and managing the personnel department. Despite of Mayhew being at Detroit as manager for less than a season he has expressed that Harris has a 20 year experience which has earned him respect from the national football league. He spent the last 6 years at Jacksonville as president of player’s personnel.

Harris has a lot of experience especially after working at Baltimore as the pro-personnel director since 1997-2002 and even helped the ravens win the 35th super bowl. He also has a record of working with the current coach for lions’ in 1997-1998.

Manager Mayhew is pleased with the new front office team which he says comprises of very young members, some old who have a lot of experience and great attitude who are very excited about starting work.

The coaching staff comprises of former staff and its assistants who have good connections to coach Schwartz, and Scott Linehan and Günter Cunningham who are responsible for the offensive and defensive departments respectively.

Those retained include Stan Kwan who holds the post of special team’s coordinator, Sam Gash in charge of running backs, Shawn Jefferson responsible for wide receivers, Bradford Banta the assistant for special teams, Jason Arapoff the coordinator for physical development and Malcolm Blacken in charge for strength and conditioning.

The head coach Schwartz has also named new nine coaches Jeff Horton (quarterbacks); Tim Lappano (tight ends); Bob Karmelowicz (defensive line); Kris Kocurek (assistant defensive line); Daron Roberts (assistant secondary); Tim Walton (secondary); George Yarno (offensive line); Matt Burke (linebackers); Todd Downing (offensive quality control).

Detroit lions have also resigned some of its players in a move to add talent in the club. Most of those sent home took part in the NFL’s first 0-16 match. Among them was the highly paid Leigh Bodden and Mike Furrey, guard Edwin Mulitalo, safety Dwight Smith, tight end Dan Campbell and offensive tackle Jon Dunn.

Bodden leaves even before his four-year contract with the Lions ends in which he had signed a $27 million for the whole season. He enabled one pass for the Lions last season after he had 11 interceptions in Cleveland the previous three years, including six in 2007.

Campbell might have been cut out because last season he only played 3 games after suffering an injury. He had initially played 23 games for Dallas cowboys and New York giants in 2005-2006 seasons.

However Detroit lions still have a long way ahead of them to make the revamp to this season’s games after suffering a humiliating defeat in 0-16 season. The new team will have to prove and put in use its new winning strategies. The big decision however remains to be made at quarter back and for that to happen work must start immediately.
