Medical Treatment with Drugs
There are a range of drugs that can be used in hair loss cases. The drug usage in most cases of hair loss is actually based upon the rationale of treating the underlying cause that is causing the hair loss. For instance, in case of excessive dandruff, specially made medical shampoos are prescribed, or in cases of scalp skin fungal infections, anti-fungal drugs like Clotrimazole may be used. Drug supplements like multivitamins that have Biotin can be helpful. In any case, the role that medical drugs can play in preventing hair loss is limited to a certain extent only and you will need to avail other options.
Topical Applications
Topical applications or surface acting agents are by far the most extensively used products to deal with hair loss of all sorts. There are a variety of choices one has here from dermal hair care creams, to fancy oils, expensive lotions that claim to regenerate hair or high-end shampoos that can prevent or curtail hair loss to varying degrees. All these agents can be at best used as add-ons for a hair loss problem as an adjuvant.
Surgical Hair Transplant Therapy
Surgical implantation of hair is by far the apparently most promising option you have to combat hair loss. Surgical hair transplant involves manual implantation of hair over the scalp skin. Small hair grafts are this way fixed in to the scalp skin and they grow up just like normal hair does. So this way you can get yourself perfectly natural hair back again. However, surgical hair transplant procedures are quite expensive. Moreover, the number of hair that needs to be transplanted will determine the total cost of the whole procedure. Hair grafts are costly, and usually range within $3 to $12 per hair graft. Normally a person can require at least a few hundreds to over thousands of such grafts.
Hair Replacement Strategy
Hair replacement strategies are aimed at getting you fixed with synthetic, human or animal hair that can be periodically changed or maintained. In this case, artificial or human hair is fixed on the scalp with special prosthetic units. This procedure is expensive too and the flipside is that although the replaced hair pieces will look great in the beginning, they will need constant maintenance to keep them looking shiny, natural, and healthy.
