Nick Cage�s performance is outstanding; he brings Ben Gates back to life as he reprises this role. Jon Voight is magical on-screen; playing Patrick Gates as a fun-loving intellectual who loves the hunt as much as his son does. Helen Mirren is always spectacular and she shines in the role of Ben�s mom, Dr. Emily Appleton. Professor Appleton, who has long been estranged from Patrick, joins her family on their quest for truth.
The Plot Thickens�National Treasure 2 (as it is also referred to) finds Ben on a relentless and mind-blowing search for the Lost City of Gold; the film is a delightful mixture of real history, myth and mystery. Ben�s quest to find the lost city leads him to one final clue which reveals the only way he can find the Lost City of Gold is by kidnapping a high-level member of the government! Talk about your interesting plot twists � this has to be one of the best! The viewer is taken on an adrenaline-pumping adventure from the start of the movie until the credits roll.
The movie is rated PG and is acceptable viewing for most families. The rating is based on the amount of action it contains and some scenes featuring violence. An adventure film and a thriller, the movie also contains a great deal of humor and captivating performances by all of the wonderful actors.
