Dr. Nafthali Primor, Shulov Institute for Sciences R&D Manager was the first physician to posit the venom of snakes as an effective natural pain relief for arthritis.
Dr. Primor and his research and development team have revealed some powerful chemicals in the venom of various species of rattle snakes, vipers, and cobras. The combination of these substances are effective analgesics for debilitating pain caused by various diseases, like cancer and particularly arthritis which frequently triggers extreme pain.
Snake Venom Use
Even though Nafthali’s proposition was the first official acknowledgement of snake venom’s curative properties, this idea has been prevalent for a long time. Before Dr. Nafthali Primor conducted his study, there were already reports of successful arthritis treatment through snake bites.
The first reported case was that of a 66-year-old Englishman with chronic arthritis. Accidentally getting bitten by a snake, he informed the BBC channel in 2002 that the joint pain on his finger was completely cured within 3 to 4 weeks subsequent to getting bitten. Unfortunately, the pain returned soon after, first only mildly for 2 months, and then returning in full force in the succeeding months. Not surprisingly, the BBC report caught the interest of certain people at that point.
Nafthali Primor and Snake Venom
When he was younger, Nafthali Primor already confessed to a certain interest for snakes. He soon became fascinated with the medicinal potential of snake venom. Perhaps this is why he was destined to eventually uncover snake venom remedies for arthritis.
In the 80s, someone named Dr. Shulov told Dr. Primor that Russians have been using venom creams to manage aches and pains. This information prompted Dr. Nafthali Primor to pursue the concept and do further research.
Snake Venom Methods for Arthritis Treatment
The earliest venom analgesic created was the VeP-3, which was drawn from the venom of Palestinian Vipers. Primor observed that of the thousand or so molecules present in the snake venom, just 4 to 5 molecules are actually venomous. Meaning, approximately ninety nine percent of snake venom is safe and consequently may be harvested for a range of medicinal potentials.
Dr. Primor currently means to create a snake venom anti-pain salve to specifically target arthritis pain. He mentions as a key example a “super aspirin” drug created by Merck & Company called “Aggrastat”, which effectively prevents heart attacks and blood clots. This “super aspirin” is also made of snake venom.
Thus far, snake venom arthritis methods still offer several possibilities. Researches continue to examine new ways through which snake venom can be effectively and safely incorporated in a variety of medicinal purposes. Scientific studies also aim to create a superlative cream that will ultimately eliminate arthritis. For the meantime, while we await further breakthroughs in snake venom use, please don’t experiment with yourself by getting bitten by snakes.
