People’s biggest fear
Humans are desperately afraid of being considered inconsistent by others, and even more by considering themselves inconsistent. People will continue to do what they have done in the past only to be viewed as consistent. That is why people come out of rehab and start using drugs again. That is how they see THEMSELVES. It is a self fulfilling prophesy.
Your ex broke up with you because they either saw themselves as inconsistent staying with you, or they see you as being inconsistent. One of these two will emerge if you dig deep enough. All you have to do is show them it would be inconsistent to not be with you. Yes this is both manipulative and effective. Don’t worry, they will never know.
