Getting Rich Is Easy

It is human nature to believe that people who are achieving much more than ourselves have discovered some magical, secret formula that gives them powers we don't have. The truth is that success in any area of endeavor generally comes from diligently and consistently following the basic principles. Getting rich is no exception.
Getting rich is easy. It's something that anyone can do regardless of their initial circumstances.

Now when I say this most people reply that if it's so easy to get rich why are most people broke or at best living in mediocrity.

The reason most people don't get rich is that, although getting rich is easy, not getting rich is even easier.

It's easy to get rich but it's even easier to say "poor me, the world's against me". It's easy to get rich but it's even easier to go to work each day then come home, have a couple of beers and watch some TV. It's not that getting rich is hard it's just that you have to make a decision to do it!

The true enemy of those who want to become rich isn't the difficulty of discovering how to do it but rather it is the lure of mediocrity. In the wealthy countries mediocrity is a good lifestyle. The average person has a job that provides the money for good food, nice clothes, a good car, and a nice house. They can afford to go on a holiday each year. They have large screen TV's, sound systems, ipods, cellular telephones, digital cameras, microwave ovens, washing machines, dish washers, and all the other luxuries that technology offers.

It's not that hard to get up each morning and go to work. Pay day comes and we get a wad of cash to fund our comfortable lifestyle. Life's good.

The average person is a bit like a drug addict where money is the drug and the comfortable lifestyle of mediocrity is the intoxication. Each pay day you are given enough of the drug (money) to maintain the intoxication (mediocrity) and so we dream of becoming one of the rich but we are not in enough discomfort to prompt us to get up of our butts and do something about it.

There is nothing wrong with mediocrity. However it does seem to be a terrible a waste of a life when you compare it to what you could be if you tapped into your full potential.

To become wealthy in an affluent country you have to build a big enough dream to motivate you to break out of the relative comfort of mediocrity. You have to find something truly inspiring that you want to achieve and then build that in your mind, focusing on it each day until not having it becomes such a frustration that you are driven to break free from mediocrity and unleash your true potential for greatness.

If you find the courage to dream big and the motivation to step outside of average life and really achieve something you will be able to look back during your final days and say that my life was an exciting and inspiring adventure. On the other hand if you choose to remain in mediocrity then in those last moments you will look back and say I was just another fat sheep in a well fed flock.
