Heart Monitor Watch - What Is Your Resting Heart?

To know and understand how your heart is doing, either during your daily routine, or when exercising, you need to know what your RHR is. RHR stands for resting heart rate. And as it implies it is the amount of times your heart beats when it is in rest mode, when you are at peace.

It is quite easy to determine what your RHR is. If you have a heart monitor watch it will do this for you., but you can also do this manually. Checking your RHR can be done manually, just put the top of your index, second, and third fingers on the palm side of your other wrist, just below where your thumb meets your wrist. (This sounds more challenging than it is, but focus and give it a try).

Press very gently on that area and you will soon feel your pulse. If you don't you are either pressing too hard, too gently or you are dead. Using a timer of some sort, clock or watch, follow the minute hand, and count how many times your heart beats in 60 seconds. To make this even simpler, just count how many times your heart beats in 10 seconds and multiply that by six to translate that figure into your RHR. You do have to be calm and peaceful when you perform this check. Sit down, breathe deeply and chill before you begin your count.

Remember that anxiety, worry, poor health and height above sea level can upset your pulse. So it is best to do a pulse check a few times over a few days to get an exact recording.

You can of course make this excercise simpler with the use of a heart rate monitor, it is just the click of a button, but as you can see above you do not need one to get your RHR.
