Highlight performances from the ACMAs

May 18th saw the airing of the 43rd annual ACMAs on TV. For country music fans, this is the big one. A chance to see who comes out on top for the year and also a chance to catch some great live performances. For me, there were two performance highlights. One was the chance to hear the new single from Sugarland, All I want to Do, off of their upcoming album, Love on the Inside which is dropping July 22nd. As always, it was a high energy performance and the song is so catchy! I imagine that people all over will be humming the chorus for days. The only downfall of the performance is that now I have to wait two months before hearing the rest of the album.
The most theatrical and dramatic performance of the night was Taylor Swift’s Should Have Said No. Usually dressed to the nines, Taylor appears on stage in a black hoodie with the hood pulled up and jeans. She starts off singing an acoustic version of the song, but as soon as she hits the chorus she rocks out throwing her guitar off stage. The coolest part was when her two back up dancers (Yes, Taylor had backup dancers) stood on each side of her and ripped off the hoodie and jeans, revealing her usual short dress. She continues to rock out, singing her butt off. Then towards the end of the song she heads towards the back of the stage and sings the rest of the song in a rain storm becoming completely drenched. Throughout the whole performance she shows attitude galore batting her eyes and pouting. But as soon as she sings the last note, in true Taylor form, she turns back into the star struck girl we all know and love. She looks positively giddy and amazed that people liked the performance. And a little cold.
