Kansas City Chiefs Fire Five Coaches!

Exactly seven weeks after the season had finished, the chiefs resolved to fire five of their assistant coaches. This happened at a time when it was least expected. The coaches however were assistants of the senior coaches.

John Embree famous as tight ends, Curtis Modkins-runing backs and Erick Price-wide receivers as well as quality control coaches Mike Ketchum and Kevin Patullo were the ones dismissed by the city chiefs. It is however unclear whether Chan Gailey who is the offensive coordinator will remain with the team; neither are Bob Bicknell and Joe D’Alessandris, together with the defensive line coach Tim Krummie. No one is just sure if they will continue working for the new head coach Todd Haley.

Four members of the Herm Edwards’ staff have already left for other jobs. Gunther Cunningham who was the defensive coordinator went to lions, Mike Priefer who was the special teams coach left for Broncos, secondary coach David Gibbs went for the Texans and Dick Curl the quarterbacks coach left for the rams.

This has caused mixed reactions as various reports show that the chiefs spoke with the former New Orleans defensive coordinator Garry Gibbs and the ball state offensive coach Part Perles about their positions and comments on Haley’s staff.

Gibbs has been the defensive coordinator at LSU and Georgia as well as the head coach in college at Oklahoma before starting his NFL coaching career in 2002 as the coach for the Cowboys. He had been with the cowboys for three seasons under Bill Parcels before he joined the saints in 2006.

Perles has also been a coaching veteran; he has also worked in college at Michigan State, Toledo and Ball state in the NFL for the Rams and for three teams in the CFL.

What basically led to the sucking of Gibbs was when the saints, finished near the bottom of the league. The chiefs have put in place strict measures to curb any inconveniency within the team.

On the other hand Larry Johnson confirmed in a radio interview that he wanted to play elsewhere, he said that he needed a clear break from Kansas as he also confirmed that he id not fit in the team at all. Johnston told the station that he would rather play elsewhere; he dismissed the rebuilding team that it was getting younger with each passing day.

With the scheme of things in the city, Johnston said that he didn’t fit in the things the city did,’’ everyone wants to do it in a very difficult way, and it is difficult to find an easy way of doing things.’’

Johnston elaborated on his stance that he is not fit for in the Kansas City community, saying that he didn’t really fit in. He said that the boss was complaining a lot but he advised Kansas City to move on, ‘it’s not time to complain or point fingers’’, he said. Johnston’s reactions came after the firing of the five coaches of Kansas City.
