As you might know already, the word antioxidant foods is quite popular now. Antioxidants are said to prevent aging, to cure diseases, and many more. So how much of it is true? And how do we increase our antioxidant foods intake for healthy living?
There are two type of vitamins, C and E, that functions to protect the body from the harmful effects of free radicals. Free radicals are basicly what is destroying our body cells. This will end the free radicals chain reaction in the body. Antioxidants can do this because they are stable in shape, they act as scavengers, to prevent cells and tissues damage that can lead to cell damage and disease. One of the suspected diseases related to free radicals is heart disease, alzheimers, and many more. So let's see the two vital vitamins.
What about Vitamin E? This is the most common fat-soluble antioxidants in the body. One of the most effective means of opening a chain of antioxidants available. Suffice to say, it's the main defender against oxidation. The main bulwark against each other lipids (the formation of unstable molecules containing more oxygen than normal). Vitamin E May protect against cardiovascular disease in the defense against LDL oxidation and the blockage of the arteries. It also promotes good skin health.
What about Vitamin C? This is the most common in water-soluble antioxidants in the body. A special fighter in the fight against the formation of free radicals caused by air pollution and cigarette smoke. This vitamin also effects the vitamin E, to be in their active form. Numerous studies have strongly correlated the contributions of vitamin C in a low incidence of cancer, particularly cancers of the mouth, larynx and esophagus. It also helps our immune system.
Antioxidants protect the body against damage by free radicals. But before you stock your pantry and with the mega-doses of vitamins, you should know what you're getting at. Many fruits have many antioxidant values. The ones that have high antioxidant values are now being termed as superfruits. So, if you can incorporate it in your diet, this will be beneficial for you.
