Nokia 6555

The Nokia 6555 is a clamshell phone designed with the average user in mind. It features the same overall design as the Nokia 3555, except that it includes HSDPA support for the ultimate in high-speed data transfers over the GSM network. However, there are also a few other features that the Nokia 6555 offers – mainly a better screen, better camera, and better battery life. In other words, if you are looking for a more high-end phone than the Nokia 3555, you’ve come to the right place.

The Nokia 6555 is a quad band GSM phone. This means that it can be used anywhere in the world simply by swapping the SIM card when you arrive at your destination. Furthermore, the Nokia 6555 also offers support for high-speed 3G data transfer in both the Americas and Europe. No matter where you travel to, the Nokia 6555 can get data streamed to the phone quickly.

Measuring in at approximately four inches by one and a half inches by one inch, the phone is rather average sized. It also weighs a feathery 97 grams, making it one of the lighter clamshell style phones currently on the market.

Unlike its lower class cousin, the Nokia 6555 features a much longer battery life. Expect to get approximately six and a half hours of talk time or 300 hours of standby time on a single charge. The talk time is roughly double the amount you could expect to get when using the Nokia 3555.

The Nokia 6555 features two displays. The larger main display located inside of the phone is large in size and is capable of displaying 240 by 320 pixels of resolution and 16 million colors. The external display is capable of displaying 128 by 160 pixels and 262k colors. Compared to the smaller displays on the Nokia 3555, the Nokia 6555 offers much better image quality – inside and out.

The Nokia 6555 has a built in 1.3 megapixel digital camera with video capabilities. It also has a built in six times digital zoom.

Multimedia is well supported on the Nokia 6555. The video player can play a number of different types of video files, as can the music player. Furthermore, the built in 30MB of memory can be expanded via microSD cards.

Other features include a large phone book, an alarm, a calendar, a notepad, a to-do list, a stopwatch, Bluetooth support, a number of voice commands, a voice recorder, a speakerphone, email support, and push to talk features.

Pros

* Average consumer friendly
* 3G support
* Small and light
* Improved battery life
* Better features than the Nokia 3555

Cons

* Camera still isn’t up to par

Overall

The Nokia 6555 is a great device for the average consumer. If you use your phone primarily for talking, but still like to have a number of great features at your fingertips, the Nokia 6555 is for you. While it is neither as high tech nor as attractive as other phones in the same genre, it follows the traditional Nokia style of placing function before form.
