The best thing to do is watch your cholesterol levels at any time and do something for your health when cholesterol is concerned. There is more than one type of cholesterol, contrary to what many people think. LDL is the first cholesterol type. This is the "bad " cholesterol. This type of cholesterol builds up in the walls of the artery and can cause blockage. This cholesterol type thus leads to heart problems and even a heart attack. The higher your LDL cholesterol number is, the higher the risk of developing any heart problems. The other cholesterol type is HDL cholesterol, which on the other hand is thought to be the "good " cholesterol type. This is a molecule that has in its componence protein and cholesterol. What this cholestrol does is actually clean up your arteries from the mess that LDL cholesterol causes. In this case, it is very good that you have a high HDL cholesterol level. This means that the risk of developing a heart problem because of the bad cholesterol is reduced. When you go to the
doctor, a simple test will show you all cholesterol numbers plus tryglicerides. The test reveals the number of total cholesterol, LDL cholesterol, DHL cholesterol and that type of fat that is actually increased by alcohol or sweets. If you want this cholesterol test to give the most accurate results, you must fast for about eleven hours before taking the test. Water is the only thing that you are allowed to drink.

The heart problems that most of us have are a result of high LDL cholesterol levels. In conclusion, all cholesterol treatments are aimed at reducing the levels of this "bad " cholesterol. However, this is not very simple, because the LDL cholesterol number can vary. This variation of the cholesterol number can actually show us the risk of heart problems that we are exposed to. Most of the people that suffer from cholesterol should have a target of less than 130 LDL cholesterol levels. If there are also other factors, besides cholesterol, that increase the risk of having heart problems, the cholesterol level that you should aim for is less than 100 mg/ dL.
