Poker Games Explained

Here is a brief explanation for the most popular forms of poker

No Limit Hold'em
This is by far the most commonly played poker game being played today. It has gained so much popularity that it has spawned several television games. The game starts with the posting of the blinds, after this each player receives the only 2 cards that are exclusive to them in this game. The dealer will then deal 5 cards to the center of the table and will turn the first 3 cards over. This is the first time you can really get a feel for your hand. At this point it goes back and forth between a betting round and the flipping over of a card. Once all the cards have been turned over and all the bets are in the cards are revealed and the player with the best hand wins.

Playing Red Dog:
Red dog is not really a poker game, because it in no way utilizes poker hands and rankings. This is more like a price is right game. The game is started with the dealer dealing each player 2 cards face up. The lower value card is placed on the left and the higher one on the right, you may now bet on if the next card will fall between the 2 other cards. An example would be you are dealt a 2 and a 7 you have to bet on if the next ward will be a 3, 4, 5, or a 6. The closer the first 2 cards are in value the higher the payout if it falls in between.

About Caribbean Stud:
Caribbean stud is not the average stud poker game. In this game each player gets 5 cards they may not look at or touch their cards till the dealer finishes dealing and turns over his top card. At this point a player can decide to stay in the game or fold. If you stay in the game your bet is doubled from the Ante. Once everyone either stays or folds all the cards are shown and everyone with a better hand then the dealer wins like in Blackjack.

Three Card Poker:
Three Card Poker is fun because of the ease and speed of the game. The dealer will deal each player 3 cards, and the object of the game is to make the best 3 card hand that you can. You can also bet on what is called Pair Plus. This means if you get at least a pair you can win this bet. Just like in Caribbean stud you are playing against the casinos dealer and not the other players at the table. This makes it possible for there to be more then one winner per round.

Poker:
This version of poker is the basic and oldest poker version. It is called Five Card Draw Poker. This version can be played with and ante or a blind. It is most commonly played with an ante. The dealer will then go around dealing 1 card to each player till everyone has 5 cards in their hands. At this point you have a betting round or you can fold, but most people will stay in till the next round unless you have absolutely nothing. in the draw round you may get rid of some of your 5 cards and receive new ones. This is where many of the players will fold. After this the remaining players can make a final bet then it is time to put your cards on the table and declare a winner. In this version it is winner take all.

Now that you know the different games you are ready to try your luck in any casino poker room.
