Present for a Baby Shower

Choosing a gift for an expecting mom is not always easy, especially if you are not a parent. There are several approaches you can take when choosing a gift, I will give you some advise on a few of those approaches.
The first thing you should do is ask the expecting parents if they have a gift registry at any store. Many parents go to stores they like and leave a list of things they want and how many of them they think they could use. By taking this approach you make sure to buy a gift that the recipients want, and you still leave the surprise aspect of giving a gift.
Have you ever considered giving disposables diapers as a gift? Most people usually haven't, but taking into account how fast babies use them and how expensive they are, they surely would be appreciated by most parents. If you think your friends or family member would appreciate a few packs of diapers I would recommend sticking to the larger sizes because babies quickly outgrow the smaller ones. Baby clothes are a safer bet but should also buy larger sizes. Choose clothes that will last for a while and remember to take into account the season when the baby will be big enough to use it. Ask the parents for the due date to calculate when the clothes will be used. When choosing the garments stick to neutral colors if you don’t know the gender of the baby.
I have mentioned a few gifts babies can wear and poop in, now I would like to mention a few that are designed to entertain. If you are a the mood to give a good old fashion toy go right ahead, here are a few pointers. You can give toys that will be used when the baby is a little older but try to stick to toys for ages three and under, other toys might be a choking hazard if used before they are supposed to. A baby’s brain is developing at great speeds when it is an infant so look for toys that expose the baby to new textures, sounds, and smells; babies are attracted to highly contrasting colors, and remember to stay simple, even expensive toys will get boring quickly to a baby. If you want to give a gift that will entertain but is not a toy, baby books, DVDs, and music are good choices. Studies have shown that a developing brain benefits from music. DVD’s like Baby Einstein are very nice because they entertain baby’s and give parents a chance to do something else while the baby is watching TV. The upcoming baby is not the only one that deserves a gift, parents deserve something for all their dedication. Good gifts for parents are those that help with all their new responsibilities and help them adjust to life with a baby. A backpack carrier is a good gift for adventurous parents, a fashionable diaper bag might be appreciated by a fashion conscious mother to be. Gifts could also help parents relax, a massage would be mostly appreciated to sooth the aches and pains of being pregnant or taking care of your pregnant wife. Consider buying a gift set that sends the expecting mom packages that go along worth the stages of pregnancy every month. New parents have a bunch of obligations and giving them a hand is a great gift, offer to take care of birth announcements or planning of the baby shower.
Whatever gift you decide to give always remember that the most important gift, is your love and affection. Offer your assistance in anything future parents might need. Choosing a gift for an expecting couple is hard but knowing the couple and taking some simple advise makes it much easier.
