Self Storage Uses For Small Businesss

Self storage opportunities for small businesses could be right down the block. Self storage units can provide the solution to several needs that small business owners face. Self storage businesses are becoming available nearly everywhere, and their use has the potential for significant savings for small businesses.
Small businesses often start in small spaces, such as a home office or garage. When this space is outgrown, the business will seek a new location. However, financial constraints may limit the ability to provide for future expansion. As growth occurs, space issues and employee expansion may once again cause plans for relocation.
The costs of moving to a new location are often considerable. The need for movers and changes required at the new site are potential costs and the time required for the move and potential loss of business are risks for loss. Rather than relocate a small business because storage space is needed, renting a self storage unit may be a more cost effective solution. This can reduce the amount of storage required on site and may free up space for staff, eliminating or delaying the relocation.
When moving is required, businesses sometimes liquidate furnishings and fixtures. Liquidation may occur because of a time lapse between vacating the existing location and moving into the new, or because the new location may be in a different city. The sale of cubicles, and office furniture means the business will take a loss, which will be magnified when the items need to be replaced. Self storage units can be rented for a fraction of the cost of replacing these expensive furnishings. Additionally, some self storage businesses offer the use of a moving truck to transport the items to be stored.
The terms of the self storage vary, with some self storage companies allowing month to month rental and others requiring more commitment. Rental fees generally depend on location, size of the self storage unit and amenities, such as climate control. Self storage rent can range from $50 to over $200 per month, depending on requirements. But even at the highest rent, goods can be stored for much less than it would cost to replace them. If the planned move is to another city, portable self storage units can be delivered to the business for packing, and then moved to the new location or stored by self storage company.
