During 2008, one phone-maker is set on moulding the world of camera-equipped mobile phones. That manufacturer is Sony Ericsson, and they are determined to not only corner the planet in top-end camera phones, but low-end handsets, as well!
Camera phones through the ages - the Sony Ericsson legacy
It's fitting, when you think about it, that Sony Ericsson are the ones at the forefront of the coming paradigm shift in camera-equipped mobile phones. I mean, it was them who began it all, long ago, in 2002. Let's remember, they were the first company to release a mobile phone that'd got a camera in it, within the British marketplace. That phone was the Sony Ericsson P800, but it didn't really hit the mass market in the way that Sony Ericsson would've liked, since it was an amazingly (compared to other mobile phones at the time) high-end smartphone. However, their most iconic phone in history was soon to hit the market, and that one DID get huge mass market appeal. That was the Sony Ericsson T610, and it changed the playing field. There you had a device that stood out amongst the crowd of all the other mobile phones it was up against. It was compact, it was slim, and people went MAD for it. And, let us remember that the Sony Ericsson T610 had also got an integrated camera, and that it was actually the first handset to hit that mass audience, and make people say, 'Hang on, we really do want our mobile phones to have cameras in 'em!'
Nowadays, the camera phone world has split, into low-end handsets, and high-end camera-equipped mobile phones; well, it's fair to say that Sony Ericsson want to dominate both!
Sony Ericsson S302 - the entry level happy snapper
Say you want a Sony Ericsson camera phone, but not a mega-massive smartphone. If so, then the Sony Ericsson S302, the first phone to be announced in their brand new Snapshot range, is the perfect handset for you. It's a cute little mobile, with a small, sleek body, a great screen, and a funky little multimedia browser. In addition to that, in spite of this being classed amongst the ranks of entry-level mobile phones, the Sony Ericsson S302 comes with a great little 2 megapixel camera. Ok, you don't get autofocus, but since it's a budget camera phone, it's brilliant!
But the S302 is a low-end mobile phone... how about if you need a phone that's got real muscle? how about if you need one of Sony Ericsson's Cyber-Shot line...?
Sony Ericsson C905 - the ultimate camera phone?
You just can't deny power, and one thing is for certain: the Sony Ericsson C905 has much more raw power than any other mobile phones on the market in the UK. And why is that? Simple, it's the first camera phone to be unleashed upon the UK that's got an 8 megapixel camera. Yes, you read that right. 8. That's a disturbingly massive pixel resolution, and it means that the Sony Ericsson C905 gives you the power to take the absolute crispest pictures you've ever witnessed, from any camera-equipped mobile phone, in the world. Oh, and of course, don't forget that Sony Ericsson have amped it up with Cyber-Shot technology, and that's going to make the photos coming out of it so much more vibrant. Combine that with a stunning multimedia player, WiFi, HSDPA and integrated GPS, and you have to come to the conclusion that the Sony Ericsson C905 is, without doubt, the king of the hill!
