This year, one manufacturer is intent on shaping the game of camera-enabled mobile phones. This phone-maker is Sony Ericsson, and they are determined to not only corner the universe with high-end camera phones, but bottom-end ones, too!
Camera phones through the ages - the world created by Sony Ericsson
It's rather apt, when you think about it, that Sony Ericsson are the ones at the forefront of the coming paradigm shift amongst camera-equipped mobile phones. Come on, it was them who kicked it all off, long ago, in 2002. Lest we forget, they were the first company to unveil a mobile phone that had a camera built in, in the UK. That phone was the Sony Ericsson P800, but it didn't really hit the mass market in the way that Sony Ericsson wanted, what with it being an incredibly (for the time) high-end smartphone. But, their most iconic phone in history was about to hit the market, and that one WOULD get huge mass market appeal. That was the Sony Ericsson T610, and it moved the goalposts. There was a phone that stood proudly over the rival mobile phones it was up against. It was small, it was sexy, and the country LOVED it. And, let us remember that the Sony Ericsson T610 had also got an integrated camera, and that it was really the first phone to go to that mass audience, and make them go, 'Wait a sec, we actually do want cameras in our mobile phones!'
Today, the camera phone world has split, into entry-level handsets, and high-end camera-equipped mobile phones; well, it's fair to say that Sony Ericsson really badly want to be the lings of both!
Sony Ericsson S302 - cheap, cheerful, snappy
If you want a Sony Ericsson camera phone, but you don't need a big, super-powered device, then the Sony Ericsson S302, the first phone to come from their whole new Snapshot series, is the perfect handset for you. It's a cute little handset, with a small, sexy body, a marvellous screen, and a groovy little multimedia player. As well as that, despite this being firmly amongst the ranks of entry-level mobile phones, the Sony Ericsson S302 comes with a great little 2 megapixel camera. Ok, you don't get autofocus, but considering that it's a budget camera phone, it's brilliant!
However, that's an entry-level mobile phone... how about if you want something with some real clout? how about if you desire one of Sony Ericsson's Cyber-Shot line...?
Sony Ericsson C905 - the ultimate camera phone?
There's no denying power, and one thing is very clear: the Sony Ericsson C905 has vastly more raw power than all other mobile phones you can buy in the UK. How come? Simple, it's the first camera phone to be announced in the UK that's got an 8 megapixel camera. Yup. 8. That's a ludicrously big pixel resolution, and it means that the Sony Ericsson C905 will let you take the absolute crispest pictures you've ever witnessed, from any camera-equipped mobile phone, in the history of everything ever. Oh, and of course, let's not forget that Sony Ericsson have packed it full of Cyber-Shot awesomeness, and that will make the images it produces so much more unbelievable. Add in a top of the range multimedia browser, WiFi, HSDPA and built-in GPS, and the end result is that the Sony Ericsson C905 is, quite simply, the top of the heap!
