Splendid Shrubbery Renovation: Useful Warnings

Creating Attractive Wreaths

A simple but beautiful way to decorate your porch is to add a wreath to your door. There are many ways to be creative when you make a wreath: the combinations of colors, shapes, and themes or styles lead to endless possibilities. To make a basic wreath, procure some silk flowers and a foam ring from a craft store or shopping center. Using some heavy-duty scissors, cut the stems of your flowers, leaving about an inch of stem below the flower. Next, decide how you want the flowers to be arranged, and add them individually to the ring by pushing the stems into the foam. As you are positioning the flowers, make sure that the foam is thoroughly covered; however, you do not want your flowers to look too crowded! As you add the flowers, it is a good idea to dot them with a little glue from a hot glue gun at the point where the stem comes out of the foam. Adding leaves or vines to your wreath works well for extra decoration or for covering up bare spots. You can theme your wreath to the time of year, or use regional flowers for a more local look. To finish, tie a string around your wreath and hang it on a small nail in your front door.

Involving Your Children in Interior Decorating

Many families with small children still have a strong desire for a well decorated home. This at times can seem to be counter productive as children, especially very young kids, have a way of distracting from the natural flow of completing décor projects. When decorating in a home with small children, one of the best things you can do is give them the project of their own. They will enjoy not only the time they spend with you, but the final product that you create together. With a little creativity, you will find that many projects can involve your children. Using hanging baskets, tall trees, and other large items that cannot be pulled down or messed up is always a good idea.

Using Artificial Grasses as Decorations

As you decorate your home, one consideration you may not yet have made is to use silk grass arrangements. This decoration tool will work especially well for you if you live on a ranch, in the West, or in a desert-like environment. Silk grass designs are closer in size to flower arrangements than to silk trees and plants. They also make great accents for some of the larger greenery. Silk grass works very well with water fountains or in windowsills. Choosing to use silk grasses allows you to step outside the typical decorative modes and try something new and invigorating. Silk grass is just one more way to add new elements and designs to your beautiful home.

Pots, Urns, and Other Containers

When decorating with flowers and other greenery, don’t underestimate the importance of the pot! Based on the styles and types of greenery you use, one pot may work well for your plant while another one does not compliment it at all. One example is the bonsai plant: look for a pot with warm, rich colors and an Eastern style. Since bamboo plants are quite trendy right now, using metallic materials and fashionable designs works well. Before you come to a decision, look at several different styles, colors, and materials to make sure you get the best fit. There is no rulebook as far as pot size. A gigantic pot often steals the show—which may be exactly what you want—while smaller pots give all the limelight to the greenery.

Silk roses are one of the most sought after flowers, and are beautifully arranged and handcrafted. At SilkGardenOnline.com you will find silk roses, and other silk flowers. You will also find silk trees, wreaths, and plants.
