Terapeak Review - Guarantee your profit before you purchase products to sell on eBay!

Why Research Merchandise to Sell on eBay?
A common question you hear from newer eBay sellers is, "Where do I find items to sell"? That's probably better left for another article, but the reality of it is that you can acquire inventory products to sell on eBay in lots of places. You can find items at rummage sales, local auctions, web auctions, even your basement. You can really even buy products on eBay to resell on eBay. The trouble is finding merchandise that you can sell for a PROFIT on eBay, and the only way to do that is to know the price an item will sell for BEFORE you purchase it. Otherwise you'll probably pay too much for inventory items and your prospective profit will disappear.
Factors to Consider when Researching Products for eBay
Since you now know why it's important to analyze products before you buy them, let's examine item research a little more.
Two things are most key:
Sell Through Rate (STR%) and Average Sales Price (ASP).
The Sell Through Rate is the percentage of products that were sold out of those that were listed. So if four products were listed and 2 sold, the STR is 50%. As a guideline, anything better than 50% is a nice sell through rate. 60-70% is very good, and if you find a item with an 80% or better STR, you hit paydirt.
But there's more to know than the STR. You also need to know how much people are willing to pay for an item. If it has an 80% sell through rate, but you can't buy it for less than it sells for, you need to keep looking. Average Sales Price (ASP) is just what it sounds like. For a certain length of time it's how much a certain item has sold for, on average.

How to Find the Average Sales Price and STR%
On eBay, using the advanced search tool to view completed listings, it's not an automatic effort to learn the average sales price. You have to look through the list and either copy down the figures or do them in your head. EBay only shows the last 15 days sales, which is not long enough when you're trying to sell a one of a kind item.
The best service I have been able to find to do item research is an online service called Terapeak. On Terapeak, you can enter the name of a product and almost immediately it will show you the number of eBay matching listings for your product. You can search any time frame from 7 days up to 90 days, which is truly good for rare products.
Terapeak also shows you the Average Sales Price and Sell Through Rate. You can filter out listings that are different from your item. And you can also view the listings on eBay that were shown in the search results, their start price, listing strategies, extra listing features, and more. Terapeak has many more features than can be reviewed in such a short article. Without a doubt the Terapeak service has saved me hundreds of dollars by showing how much I could pay for items. It's also made hundreds of dollars for me by showing the highest price I can expect to get for items I'm selling. Using Terapeak I went from using eBay as a hobby to Powerseller status in less than six months. If you're ready to take your eBay business to the next level, you owe it to your self to try Terapeak.
