I have watched hundreds of Texas Hold’em Poker tournaments on TV and I am still amazed at how well the Pros play and also how they can make some seemingly bad plays. This should give everyone a since of why now, more than ever, more Amateurs are winning. Since the Pros play so well, they are seen more and more on TV and you can get a great sense of how they play the game. I believe this is why it has become harder for the Pro player to win at the World Series of Poker event held every year. Seeing the cards they play and how they play them is huge.

Knowing all this still does not guarantee a victory because the Pros know they are watched and play accordingly. For this reason, however, a lot of Amateurs play hands they might not play otherwise and it pays off sometimes. The Pros tend to play the odds a lot more. The Pros know when they are playing against another Pro he or she is going to play the odds more so they know when to back off a hand.

All in all - the TV tournaments have kind of revolutionized the game of poker. Just sit down and watch a tournament or two on TV and learn. It is not a hard game, but it is a game of timing and sometimes just a lot of luck. People who win tournaments usually pull out a bad beat or two on a player. You will to if you play long enough so just hang in there! You always learn something if you are paying attention.
