There’s good news for all die hard funs and supporters of Washington Redskins. Remember Ethan Albright the flawless player who left you jumping off your feet on every move he made, then Redskin have re-signed this veteran long snapper player, the team announced on Friday on its official websites.
As a Redskin player, Albright managed to play in all 16 games last season and was great and magnificent at his position. Albright had been a regular player on the Redskins special teams units largely due to his consistency, accuracy and experienced leadership.
The 6-5, 265-pounder, could easily be identified by all funs around Redskins Park, due to his bright red hair trademark. Albright has been a dependable veteran player, having played a total of 218 competitive games; this includes a whole 13-year streak in which he has played in all major contests.
Albright is regarded and considered to be one of the NFL’s best and most reliable long snappers. He was even awarded the Pro Bowl nod following the 2007 season.
Albright has also made several of plays on kickoff and punt quite a number of coverage units and contributed to a 65 tackles during his career. He made a three special teams’ tackles in 2008.
Albright first joined the NFL in 1994 as a free agent when he signed for the Miami Dolphins. He spent the first half season on the Dolphins practice squad and then released to Green Bay’s practice squad from where he completed the remaining part year.
Consequently the Washington Redskins have officially announced the release of punter Ryan Plackemeier. The player joined Redskins midseason last year and managed to play in 10 matches, making 55 punts in a 41.7-yard average.
Plackemeier was among the kickers who managed to make a more than 20 of punts last season, ranking 31st in the N.F.L league. Plackemeier’s memorable match was on Dec.21 when the Redskins hammered Philadelphia Eagles 10-3. He was particularly exceptional in the fourth quarter, when he managed to pin the Eagles inside their own 20-yard line more than five times.
Towards the end of the season, the head coach Jim Zorn poured a lot of praises to Plackemeier. This came when the two were seen together in Seattle in 2006-07. So there are likelihoods that Plackemeier mighty be re-signed at some point in future.
With the departure of Plackemeier, it leaves Redskins with one punter on the roster: Zac Atterberry, a first year player signed as a free agent in January.
Atterberry played for Chicago Bears mainly as a rookie last year. He was college footballer at Linden wood University in Missouri.
Another player Anthony Alridge, re-signed for the Dolphins back in 1995, and managed to play in 10 games. He later moved and played for Buffalo from 1996-2000, presently playing with Washington redskin (2001-present).
The Redskins on Friday announced and played down Denver Broncos’ claim to re-sign back Anthony Alridge back. The towering 5-9, 185-pound Alridge spent the entire season on the reserve due to injury. This came after being signed with the Denver Broncos, as an undrafted rookie free agent from the University of Houston.
In his days as a senior with the Cougars, Alridge made 1,597 yards (6.2 yards-per-carry average) and 14 touchdowns and managed to catch 42 passes for every 428 yards and five touchdowns made.
