Things To Do In Madrid

Being the largest city in Spain, you can be assured of a plethora of activities that will keep you busy for your entire stay in Madrid. In fact, there is so much for you to do there that you probably find that you don't have enough time to do all that you want to do! There are just too many interesting and exciting places to visit, too many places to dine and wine, and too many places to party and have fun.

Experiencing classic Madrid.

Madrid is famous for its rich history and heritage. There are many museums and galleries in the city that you can visit. You can start by visiting the Museo de la Ciudad. This is where one can study the history of Madrid. What happened to the city since the middle ages? Who is responsible for the changes that lead to modern Madrid? The answers are all there. This is the perfect place to get to know the city inside out.

You may then proceed to Museo del Prado, where you can appreciate the works of Picasso. This gallery has the largest collection of Picasso works you'll ever find. Of course, you will also be able to appreciate artwork by other Spanish artists. There are even study materials in English if you are interested to learn more about each individual art piece. For sure, a visit to Museo del Prado will give you a priceless education about art.

If you want to get that adrenalin pumping, the Ventas is a good place to visit. Ventas is the epicenter of Spanish bullfighting. Bullfighting is part of Spanish's unique culture and has many years of history. You may not see an actual bull fight there but simply by walking in the vicinity, you may be able to feel tingling sensations crawling down your spine. This is normal. After all, a lot of blood has been shed in this arena!

Experiencing Madrid outdoors.

After a day or two visiting museums and galleries, it may be a good idea to get a little sunshine. Take the Metro to Plaza de Espana, and that's where you can visit the Madrid Palacio Real Gardens - for free! You can feast your eyes on the greenery that lay before you. The fountains add to the natural beauty of the garden. Often, you see children playing around the fountain, getting themselves very wet, and enjoyable every moment in this enchanting place.

Or perhaps you prefer peace and tranquility. Then you may wish to visit Parque el buen Retiro Park. This is a very special park. The plants have been specially chosen to ensure that there is variety and color throughout all year round. This is the perfect spot for you to take peaceful long walks, to mediate, and to recharge your batteries.

Of course, when you have children with you, they may soon get bored with walks. When that happens, you can always visit one of the two theme parks in Madrid. And that will keep you and your children occupied for the entire day.
