Types Of Bets To Place On Thoroughbreds

Popular Bets to Place When Wagering on Thoroughbreds

There are many different reasons why horseracing enthusiasts choose to place wagers on Thoroughbred races. One reason is that placing a wager is a great way to increase the excitement that is associated with the sport of horseracing. Another popular reason for placing wagers on Thoroughbred horse races is that horseracing enthusiasts have the chance to win extra money. Before horseracing enthusiasts can win money placing wagers on Thoroughbred horse races, they must first understand the many different types of wagers that are available to place.

The most commonly placed type of Thoroughbred racing wager is the win wager. With this particular wagering option, bettors will only have to correctly choose the one horse in the field that will win the race. The great thing about this wager is that bettors will usually have a good chance at just guessing the winner of the race. For example, in a race with ten horses, bettors with no previous knowledge of wagering or horseracing will automatically have a ten percent chance of choosing the winning horse in the field. As the bettor’s knowledge of wagering and horseracing increase, so do the odds of choosing the correct horse. The only disadvantage to using the win wager is that there is usually not a large payout associated with the bet, which is why many seasoned gamblers will choose to place more exotic wagers in hopes of winning larger sums of money.

One type of wager that is commonly associated with very large payouts is the pick six. With this type of Thoroughbred wagering option, bettors will be required to choose the winning horse in six consecutive races. One technique that bettors can use to increase their chances of purchasing a winning ticket is to choose several horses from each race that each have a good chance at winning the race. While this will make the final price of the ticket more expensive, it will increase the chances that the bettor will correctly choose all six horses correctly. There are also instances when bettors can receive a payout from their pick six wager even if they only correctly predict five of the six race winners. Some race tracks will carry the money over from one pick six to the next, which will greatly increase the amount of money that can be won by bettors if they can correctly choose the six winning horses.
