Just as Mother’s Day wildly increased sales of flowers, Father’s Day has done the same for ties. While they might seem clichéd, ties are the number one Father’s Day present, and it’s easy to see why. There are thousands and thousands of different tie designs to choose from, making it easy to find a unique one for your father that reflects his personality and really stands out from the crowd. If you get a tie together with a nice shirt, you can make a matching set, which shows that you put some thought into your present. Socks are another good Father’s Day gift, especially if you can find some with an amusing design.
Some other popular gifts are tools and electronics. If your dad is the handy sort, they’re bound to appreciate things like power tools, while if they’re a little more nerdy (and you have the money for it), something like an iPod can be a great gift.
For the sporty father, equipment like golf clubs, tennis rackets and fishing lures can be a good choice – of course, it depends which sport your dad likes. If your dad is into pipes and cigars, those can be a very good idea as well. Basically, just tailor the present to his interests, and you won’t go far wrong… even if those interests are a little strange!
One thing that people sometimes don’t think of is skipping the present, and just going out and doing something with their dad. Whether it’s taking him to see a film or going to a restaurant together, it’s bound to be appreciated. Beyond that, you could try making something. Children’s homemade cards are always very special. Or you could just get him some beer, or wine. For many fathers, that’s the best gift of all.
