Work At Home Mums: Creating Time For Yourself.

I questioned if this topic would be worthy of an entire article, however it's an vital factor within the lives of work at home mums which is often ignored. I've often included in prior articles the importance of getting a healthy lifestyle and good balance between work and life, with good eating habits, exercice, time to rest and fun times too. Though we are all aware of the advantages of having such equilibrium, we tend to give priority to work and our kids, only to realise that we have no time left to look after ourselves.

Including some time for activities which create energy, relaxation and joy is straightforward, in theory. Most people probably make new resolutions regularly about new healthy behaviours. Unfortunately, these typically fade away or don't happen at all. Therefore I have identified the 3 things which, jointly, make a sturdy plan for adopting and maintaining the activities which can help work at home mums be focused, productive, healthy and relaxed.

Firstly, identify your activities. Which ones relax you? Which ones make you feel centered and energised? What do you wish to do for fun? Who do you love to be with? What do you prefer to do to keep fit and healthy? Whether it is a bath, a night out, reading a book, sport, meditation, taking a long lunch, dancing, walking, sleeping or having a family picnic, work at home mums ought to choose the most activities which they can integrate in their weekly routine. If you are hardly carrying out any activity of those types, it may be wise to start with one and add more on as you effectively make them habits.

Secondly, commitment! One of my favorite words (which also appears to turn up so much in my articles). Unless you have determined that you will commit to creating time for the activities you must do to recuperate and refresh, you're unlikely to merge them long-term in your routine. A great aspect about commitment is that it can help you stick out your new routine long enough to truly experience the benefits, in addition to helping you to form habits. Work at home mums who have created a habit of these replenishing activities also do them without feeling that they are taking time off carrying out more necessary responsibilities like working, looking after the house or your kids.

Thirdly, put them in your weekly schedule (and do them!). This is when commitment will become so important. Schedules are useful for work at home mums, particularly if they're followed! But if your other important duties take over your scheduled 'me-time', you will not produce those habits and reap the rewards of taking care of yourself. Even worse, it may negatively impact on your overall productivity, drive and general sense of happiness. And bear in mind, it doesn't take much; twenty minutes each day can do absolute miracles to your spirit, body and mind.

This truly is an easy practice to follow, and in spite of that without following all three steps work at home mums are inclined to overlook their own needs, all for the perceived benefit to their family and business or work. In conclusion, being energised, focused, positive, happy, and relaxed will help you generate better outcomes in all that you do. 20 minutes per day: commit, create habits and enjoy!
