Worms Invade Your Computer To Cause Damage

Worms are tricky, so anything less than a full-system scan might let them escape. Worse, with new worms coming out all the time, some antivirus and anti-spyware packages may not even know about a new worm until after its wreaking havoc on your machine.

Worms in humans can cause blindness, fatigue, immune dysfunction and anemia. Worms are usually associated with weakness and sneakiness. They are blind and generally feed on decaying matter.

Worms are a self-propagating (they multiply on their own) form of malware. Worms hunt for security flaws in other computers on the same network as an infected computer and copy themselves onto the new computer through that loophole. Worms often try to set up another kind of malware, a backdoor.

A backdoor is a hidden opening in your network connection that lets the worm send data out and take data in. Worms are found when the stomach is deranged from eating improper foods. Worms are the effect.

Computer Worms are also known as internet viruses as they use the internet as a medium to replicate and spread. A worm replicates fast but many times do not require infecting another file or embedding its code in them. Computer worms primarily replicate on networks, but they represent a subclass of computer viruses. Interestingly enough, even in security research communities, many people imply that computer worms are dramatically different from computer viruses.

Viruses can delete or change files/data, to delete them efficiently the boot sequence has to be eliminated out of the infected executable file. Viruses choose random email addresses from the many found and send email messages out so that they appear to be coming from one address rather than from the person whose computer is infected. This is called spoofing the address.

Worms that use Web and FTP servers fall into a separate category. Infection is a two-stage process. Worms do not live in isolation.

Computer worms are still heavily in use, but NOW most worms circulating are trojans known as IRC Bots which have worm spreading capability - like the ZOTOB worm, MYTOB worm, and lots more. Years ago, getting infected with a classic internet worm was much less of a compromise - classic worm viruses simply tried to spread.

Computer worms are malicious, stand alone programs with the ability to self-replicate. Unlike viruses, they do not need host files to spread; they use computer networks, instead.

Mydoom, called the fastest-spreading e-mail virus ever, left hundreds of thousands of computers infected with back-door programs in its wake. Back-doors make PCs readily available to hackers and virus writers, who use them to jump start the launch of new viruses. Mydoom, for example, caused a noticeable worldwide Internet slowdown at the peak of its spread.
