It might be said that modern aviation began on November 21, 1783 in France when two brothers went aloft in a hot air balloon. The true beginning of the era is usually considered to be December 17, 1903 when the Wright Brothers flew the first heavier than air powered plane a few hundred feet off a sand dune at Kitty Hawk, North Carolina. This first plane could not fly much further because it was almost impossible to control it. In the next decade the wide spread use of ailerons made aircraft manageable and by the outbreak of World War I, aircraft had developed enough for the famous dogfights that took place during that war.
Although aircraft had come a long way during this time, they were not large enough to carry freight or passengers. A type of lighter than air craft called a dirigible was considered more practical for that purpose, and was seen as the future of aviation. By the mid 1930’s, the Douglas DC-3 was introduced and became the first practical airliner. At the end of the same decade, the Hindenburg Disaster ended the age of the dirigible. - A Cheap Airfare Ticket Is Not Hard To Come By By : George Wood

There’s a good chance that you have wondered about the unfairness of airline fares in some point in your life. Well, I certainly have, and constantly at that. The difference in airline fares that a man and his co-passenger in the next seat paid was vast enough to straddle a couple of hundred dollars in one memorable case. Our discussion led to a very amusing fight that the cabin crew was hard pressed to break up.
Airline fares can really be atrocious. I know this because I have booked my tickets at various times. I have made my bookings well in advance when time has been on my side. However, planning for my winter break is now different because I can make airline ticket purchases right from my computer at home. - Go For A Charter Flight By : Hallidae Thomason

Private jet planes are the new status symbol to show that you are one of the richest people in the world. Everyone seems to be buying private jets now. Now many very famous and rich people are buying large jumbo jets and turning them into hotels and clubs in the air. I think that the movie Soul Plane helped to shed some light on and poke some fun at this growing trend of “pimping” out private jet planes. This movie went a little overboard on the types of accessories that most people would put in their private jet plane, but it also showed some of the things that people actually do have in their private jets.
There have been many news stories about celebrities buying private jet planes for millions of dollars, and then spending two or three times more to get the planes designed and furnished exactly the way that they want them. Most of the time in these large jumbo jet planes, the seating will be completely removed, and other amenities will be put in their place. Some of the time the seating in the plane goes from three hundred to about twenty five. However the twenty five seats that are still available are usually recliners or sofas, which will make any trip much more enjoyable. Also these private jet planes usually have some sort of bedroom, maybe a bar, and sometimes even a dance floor built-in. Others have a dining table, many televisions, chandeliers, and other accessories to make the private plane feel like home. - Remember Peoplexpress? By : Matthew C. Keegan
I got my start working in the flying industry while attending Ramapo College of New Jersey in the early 1980s. At that school, they had posted an opportunity to work as a "co-op" student for an airline based at EWR. PEOPLExpress Airlines was the name and they needed students to handle reservations at their Haynes Avenue facility, which was really the UAL building.
For $5.00 per hour I took the bait and worked from February to August 1984. The job was tedious, the phone system antiquated, the company was a calamity. Still, it was fun and I enjoyed my occassional trips over to the old hangar to watch aircraft take off. - Reviews On Aviation Headsets By : Natalie Aranda

There are a few fears in life that defy logic. Fear of spiders may be one, fear of lifts is another, and perhaps a fear of flying is another. Everyday, thousands of planes take off around the world, carrying millions of passengers safely to their destination. Flying is one of the safest, if not the safest, form of travel available. It is far safer than getting in the car, yet over one third of the population still report a fear of flying.
People cite many concerns when they talk of their fear of flying. Many report a lack of confidence in the air traffic control system and fear that a simple mistake on the ground can lead to disaster in the air. Then there are fears of faults with the plane itself. Most people saw the pictures of the concord crash a few years ago and when you’re sitting on an airplane, a few feet from the massive jet engines humming steadily, it seems very hard to believe that nothing could go wrong with such a machine. In fact the very shape and appearance of airplanes does little to inspire confidence in passengers who already are having doubts about the airworthiness of the plane. - The History Of Computer Based Flight Training By : Natalie Aranda
Computerized flight simulation turned into a reality in the early 1980’s when the first personal computer devices were developed along with console games. In such an early stage, computer based pilot training was an unimaginable thing.
David Clark headsets and communication solutions were totally out of scope, but in the mind of visionaries that eventually developed the first computer-based flight training systems. - The Things You May Have Overlooked About Cheap Airfare By : JohnJames

Over the last five years Europe has seen an increase in the number of low cost airlines which is great news for the holidaymaker, but many say bad news for the high street travel agent.
I remember a friend looking to take her husband away for the weekend to Dublin, Ireland and went to a high street travel agent. She was given a quote of £300 for a weekend, including flights and accommodation - book the same flight with Ryanair and a hotel in the centre of Dublin direct with the hotel, and the weekend actually cost her only £190 again including flights and accommodation - a saving of £110. - To Buy Low Cost Airfares Tickets, All You Have To Do Is Look For Them By : Muna Wa Wanjiru

Piloting a recreational aircraft sounds like a lot of fun to many people, and it is. However, you can’t just go out and fly a recreational aircraft. Instead, you will need to have some pilot training first and receive your recreational pilot certification. If you enjoy flying then all of these requirements will be enjoyable for you. Plus, you will truly be prepared when you take flight on your own. The following information will help you obtain your recreational pilot certification and give you a better understanding about what is involved.
First of all, keep in mind that pilot training for recreational aircrafts is not the same as a private pilot’s license. A recreational pilot certification allows the pilot to fly, but he may not fly beyond a fifty mile radius from the original airport. Another regulation that recreational aircraft pilots should keep in mind is that flying at night is not allowed. Flying in an area where communication with air traffic control is necessary is also against regulations. - Why Spend Hours Sitting Around At Airline Terminals? By : Andy Guides
If you're somebody with a great deal of time on your hands to spend clicking their heels in lines at airports and a inadequate amount of cash, then purchance you don't have to have a private jet. But if you're one that has a great deal of cash to spend on private jets but not an adequate amount of time to lose clicking their heels in airports, then you need a private jet. You see, there comes a time in some people's lives when every minute frittered away could amount to millions of dollars frittered away. Time is so important for such individuals that they prefer to pay thousands of dollars for a single flight via private jets than lose time clicking their heels in line for commercial flights. - Will Delta Sell AirElite? By : Matthew C. Keegan
Not many people outside of the airline industry know this, but Delta Airline owns and operates a lucrative division of private jets. Delta AirElite, as it is known, is the single bright spot in an otherwise dark business environment for this U.S. legacy carrier. Some are speculating that Delta should sell its AirElite business to raise funds and turn around the carrier, but I have another more radical take on things that I believe should be considered instead.
Established in 1984, Delta AirElite has been steadily growing and making money for Delta. While the airline part of the company is rapidly and continually hemorrhaging cash, AirElite continues to make money and grow. Indeed, with a fleet of sought after business jets in its portfolio including the Challenger 300, Gulfstream IV-SP, and Learjet 31A, AirElite is an attractive company for any potential suitor.
