  • Buying Flights Online  By : josephkenny
One of the greatest things to happen to the world of travel in recent years is the advent of low cost airlines. Not only do they offer flight travel that is cheaper than any previous airlines by far, but they also offer some other great innovations in booking and paying for flights. Part of the growth in popularity of these airlines is that they are so easy to work with online.

Unlike conventional airlines that use ticket agents and travel agents and require you to buy your tickets in person, the low cost airlines made everything available through a simple and comprehensive website that everyone could understand and use. The method of selling air tickets became so popular that these airlines are teaching the more traditional airlines how to act and are leading the way in innovation in the sale and marketing of these flights.
  • Hotel Fire Safety: Steps That You Should Take to Ensure That Your Stay is a Safe One  By : Matthew C. Keegan
Almost without exception, each of us has traveled away from our homes and stayed in a hotel, motel, or a bed and breakfast establishment. Oftentimes we become "relaxed" while away as we fail to make ourselves aware of the dangers a fire presents especially in an unfamiliar environment. Let's take a look at some of the things you should do to minimize your risks while away from home.

Even before embarking on a trip, fire fighting experts strongly suggest you research to find out if your hotel has a fire safety plan in place. Does the establishment have smoke detectors and a sprinkler system? In addition, you should pull together and pack a personal survival kit which includes a flashlight, a portable smoke detector, and a roll of wide duct tape. When traveling abroad you should learn the word for "fire" in the native language.
  • Historic Ho-ho-kus, New Jersey  By : Matthew C. Keegan
If you aren’t from New Jersey, or you have spent little time in the Garden State, you may not be too familiar with some of the peculiarly named towns located around the state. Indeed, with 566 incorporated communities, New Jersey has no lack of uncommon named locales including, Hoboken, Hackensack, Teaneck, Wanaque, Ho-Ho-Kus, and others. Located in Bergen County, in northeast New Jersey, Ho-Ho-Kus is one such town with an unusual name. Let’s take a look at the history of this little community.

With 70 communities, Bergen County is New Jersey’s most populated county with just under one million residents. The county is located just west of New York City and the towns which comprise the county are what many call “bedroom communities” for the city workers who make the daily commute to Manhattan. Indeed, located just 17 miles west of New York is the town of Ho-Ho-Kus, where a large portion of the people who have settled in the town make the daily trek to the city via train, bus, or passenger car. With just over 4000 people living within its approximately one square mile radius, Ho-Ho-Kus has a history that can be traced back to 1698 when European settlers deeded land in what is now Ho-Ho-Kus.
  • Make Your Cruise Memorable  By : Kirsten Hawkins
Taking a vacation cruise is a one-of-a-kind experience. Even people who take cruises often consider each one different, with new locales and destinations, different boats, and different activities and experiences on board. It's a great idea to preserve your memories of each trip in a special way so you can get the most out of your vacation by remembering it for years to come. There are a few small things you can do along the way to make this process simpler when you get back to dry land.

Don't be shy about taking pictures! Some people avoid doing this because they feel it makes them look too 'touristy.' But all of your fellow passengers are tourists, and it's the staff is certainly used to tourists. So if the kids get involved in a dance contest, or the chandelier in the dining room is fabulous, feel free to snap a picture. If you catch them at the right times, the crew in uniform is usually very open and willing to get into a picture with you. Ask nicely when they're not busy, and get a great shot of the captain or a crewmember in full regalia. Get cheesy if you want to; ask a fellow passenger to take a photo of you and your spouse waving by the side of the boat. My parents took a cruise when they were first married, and their favorite snapshot from the trip is one of my father pretending to throw my mother overboard. Well, whatever floats your boat, as they say. Make it campy, make it silly, make it romantic... just make it memorable.
  • Last Minute Tips For A Cruise  By : Kirsten Hawkins
When packing for a cruise, you may think that you have got everything figured out. It is very easy, however, when planning an extended vacation, to easily forget the little things. You may remember to bring the extra umbrella in case it rains while you are out sightseeing, but forget your rain boots. There is a whole host of situations that you can encounter during an extended stay on a cruise ship, so it is best to be prepared, but not pack so much that you feel overwhelmed by your luggage. Here are some key items that are very easily left out of a packing check list.

Did you remember extra batteries? Sure you have the camera, your travel alarm clock, your electric razor, and your portable compact disc player, but did you remember to bring extra batteries for all of those devices? Chances are that you did not. Make sure that you have plenty of batteries to support your electronics through the duration of your trip. You do not want to find that perfect shot only to find that the flash on your camera has died. If you are not sure that you have enough, pack more.
  • Green Is Not Your Color  By : Kirsten Hawkins
You have got your flights scheduled and transportation arranged to your cruise ship’s port. A nice cabin with a little balcony is just waiting for you to sit and enjoy the ocean views. There’s just one little problem that’s niggling at the back of your mind – what if you get seasick? That is the dreaded fear of any first-time cruiser.

Upset stomach, motion sickness, sea sickness, green around the gills … there are many names for it. Basically, seasickness can be traced back to your ears. What do your ears have to do with being sick to your stomach? It is all a mater of balance; there are little nerve strands in your inner ear that become over sensitized. Your sense of perception is thrown out of whack when these little nerve strands try to make up for the strange rocking or bobbing motions of the ship.
  • Floating Honeymoon Havens  By : Kirsten Hawkins
Color-drenched sunsets. Magical moonlit walks along the ship’s decks. Gazing out into the ocean and whispering words of love to your new spouse. Nothing is more romantic than a cruise. Honeymooners can have their choice of destinations and decide if they want to participate in all of the ship’s activities or just join in a few and spend the rest of time in bed!

The great thing about taking a cruise for the honeymoon is the all-inclusiveness of the ship. Entertainment, food, lodging, activities … all are part of the cruise price, something that a couple would not find at any land-locked resort. After spending a lot of money on the wedding of their dreams, newlywed couples find that a cruise not only satisfies their need to celebrate in some exotic or dream destination, but that it is also affordable. Newlyweds can just kick back and relax by the pool or sleep late. There are no time tables to keep on board the ship. They can go dancing at night or enjoy some live entertainment. It is their time to do whatever they want.
  • Cruising Through A Hurricane  By : Kirsten Hawkins
Planning on a Caribbean destination in the late summer or autumn months? You are in luck! Cruise prices are at its lowest that time of the year. However, there is just one little problem: hurricane season!

Cruising all year long is becoming more popular in the Caribbean, so those brave souls who book during the height of hurricane season should be prepared for last minute changes or diversions in their cruise travel plans. Hurricane season is officially from June 1st to November 30th. However, Mother Nature’s fury is often erratic depending on where you are traveling. For instance, mid to late August on through late September tend to be top times for storms on the East Coast of the United States as well as the Eastern Caribbean territories. Other areas of the Caribbean are more storm active in the latter part of the autumn season.
  • Cruising In Hawaii  By : Kirsten Hawkins
The islands of Hawaii are a dream destination for many travelers, and a cruise that incorporates all four of the state’s beautiful islands could be just the ticket for your vacation plans. Each island has its own beauty and charm and is not the same as the others. From “Big Island” to Maui, to Oahu, to Kauai, there is something different and special about each local flavor. The best way to get a real taste of Hawaii, is to try the sample platter. Below, here is a little bit of what each individual island has to offer.

Kauai is the smallest and furthest from the “Big Island,” but do not count it out in terms of local culture. Nicknamed the “Garden Island” for its rich wildlife and beautiful scenery, the island of Kauai is home to all kinds of different nature-based activities. You can go kayaking, biking, tubing, whale watching, off road sightseeing, picnicking, snorkeling, on eco tours, dinner cruises, or see a little bit of everything from an airplane tour. The best that Hawaii’s nature ha to offer is on the beautiful island of Kauai, and it is often used in Hollywood films for its representation of the natural wildlife of Hawaii, from garden to beach to Waimea Canyon, which you can traverse on a day long tour while visiting the island.
  • Cruising For Special Needs Accommodations  By : Kirsten Hawkins
If you are disabled or have certain special needs, you can still have a cruise ship adventure. If you fall into this category, your best bet is to consult with a travel agent to find the best cruise line that will accommodate your needs.

No two cruise lines are quite alike, so comparison shopping is required when choosing your options. Your particular disability could be the deciding factor on which cruise to take. For instance, not all cruise ships can accommodate wheelchairs easily. Cabins are notoriously small, so you must get dimensions to determine if your wheelchair will even fit inside your room.
  • Cruise Destinations  By : Kirsten Hawkins
When someone thinks about cruises, they often think about the balmy beaches of the Caribbean or Hawaii. However, there are lots of other places that people do not often think of that are great places to go on cruises. Cruises are not just for beach side relaxing, but can be used for all kinds of other expeditions in all different types of climates, and even some beach front places that you would not ordinarily think of. Here are outlined some beautiful cruise vacation destinations that you would not ordinarily plan in to your itinerary.

The Greek islands are a beautiful vacation spot, and while they are definitely not left off of people’s vacation agendas, they are not very often associated with the idea of cruises. However, they are a beautiful spot to not only to relax and enjoy the ocean and beaches, but they are also a wealth of rich cultural heritage and amazing ancient architecture. The native people are incredibly hardworking and friendly, and spending a day exploring among the sea side villages would be a great way to meet different types of people and get to know a little bit about yourself as well. Of course, there is also the added bonus of the amazing traditional Greek food.
  • Cruises For The Entire Family  By : Kirsten Hawkins
Cruise ships are not commonly thought of as family vacation vessels. However, there are a fair amount of cruises, like Carnival’s “fun ships” targeted at fulfilling just this purpose. Look at it this way: you know the kids are not going that far, unless of course they have gone overboard. Also, there is a little bit of something for everyone in all age groups. From adults, to teens, to kids, there is are coordinated activities as well as focused facilities for all of the different age groups. You can rest assured that no one will be bored on a family cruise.

For parents there are the usual activities. Your rest, relaxation and rejuvenation is certainly the focus and you can spend all the time you’d like lounging by the pool or on the deck, as well as making appointments for a massage or facial. There is plenty of evening recreation for once the kids are in bed, and it varies from ship to ship. There are also great opportunities for socializing and networking, and it is a good idea to have either a small notebook on hand, or at least copies of your card to give to new friends and contacts. There are also wine tasting groups, exercise rooms and nightclubs are on the adults only agendas for most family cruises.
  • Countdown To Cruise Time  By : Kirsten Hawkins
Are you ready to go cruising? You probably think you are! However, take a break from the fantasy cruise running through your mind. It’s time to think of a few sensible matters to ensure you have smooth sailing from the get go.

A few months before you go on your cruise, you might want to touch base with your travel agent to see what type of identification you need for your cruise and ports of call. If you did not book through a travel agent, call the cruise line itself to confirm your identification needs. Sometimes, you just need your United States Driver’s license. However, often times you will require a passport.
  • Cruise Jobs  By : Kirsten Hawkins
Recently, the United States armed forces has been plugging “joining up” as a great way to see the world and gain valuable life experience. While there is no doubt that these things are true, there are a couple of other ways that you can see the world and gain great life experience without putting your life in harms way on a daily basis. One of these ways is getting a job aboard a cruise ship. There are many different exciting careers to choose from on a cruise ship, and while it is a full time position, meaning you are probably not going to work just forty hours a week, you will most likely receive free room and board, free on ship medical care, and you will get to travel the world and meet exciting new people, all while getting paid.

In each cruise ship there are three departments that all of the positions get divided into: the deck, hotel, and engine department. Each of these departments has a supervisor. The staff captain runs the deck, and is also the person that the hotel manager and the chief engineer report to. It is unlikely that you will be able to get a job as an officer or captain without a degree from a naval academy. However, there are several entry level jobs that you can get with the help of the Seaman’s Union in the deck and engine. Most of the entry level positions will be in the hotel department, which consists of several departments. The Hotel department encompasses all of the following:
  • Cruising Destination Ideas  By : Kirsten Hawkins
Admit it. Before you took that first cruise, your thoughts about cruise ships and cruise vacations consisted of flashbacks to Love Boat re-runs. Cruising was all about sunny, tropical destinations like Bermuda, Mexico and Hawaii.

Since traveling by cruise ship is more popular than ever before, thanks to its affordability, you can not only go to those sunny destinations but also to more unusual ports like Hong Kong, Alaska, Norway and the Amazon River.
  • Guide To Cabo San Lucas For Young Travelers  By : Natalie Aranda
When a group of friends decides to vacation in Mexico, they will usually go to places like Cancun or Tijuana. They don’t usually think of Cabo San Lucas since it’s known as a family vacationing spot fit for all ages. But what they don’t know is that there’s so much for younger people to experience. From lying quietly on the beach, all the way to exciting taking ATV tours and horseback riding on the beach, this place has it all. Most likely, the excitement won’t end until dawn since there is a wide variety of night life, including dance clubs like El Squid Row or the famous Cabo Wabo. Almost all these places accept American dollars, traveler’s checks, and an array of major credit cards, so there’s no need to learn the conversion rates.

The beaches at Cabo San Lucas range from completely secluded to completely packed with excitement. Cabo San Lucas rentals are also available at a moment’s notice. Families may want to Playa Medano to sit on the beach and watch the people while a young couple may choose to take the short boat ride over to Playa del Amor, or lover’s beach. Anything you can do in Hawaii, you can do in Cabo. The water is perfect for surfing, parasailing, jet skiing, scuba diving, and anything else one can think of on the water. Even whale watching is available for those Free Willy fans out there. Even if water isn’t your thing, Cabo San Lucas still has loads to offer. You can check out the restaurant opened by the rock band, Van Halen, or experience the local glass blowing shops. Fishing is also ideal. A short note must be mentioned here about the shopping. The Cuban cigars, along with designer wear are all sold at duty free prices. Needless to say, the prices are more than attractive.
  • A Brief History Of The Republic Of Panama  By : Natalie Aranda
Panama has a long and rich history. There have been people living in Panama for over twelve thousand years. These native populations excelled in pottery making and were well known for their burial sites. Around the start of the sixteenth century, Rodrigo de Bastidas became the first European to claim part of Panama’s Caribbean coast. A year later, Christopher Columbus arrived in Panama. He explored the territories in the Western part of Panama and drew maps of the area by hand. Later, Balboa would also arrive in Panama and confirm that there was another coast of Panama. He would call the ocean that he saw the South Sea, which later became known as the Pacific Ocean.

Once it was known that there was another ocean and it could be accessed through Panama, the country began to grow as an economic force. This was good for the Spanish but proved to be devastating for the natives who had lived on Panama for thousands of years. The Spanish controlled Panama for over 300 years, during which much of the native population was wiped out. By the middle of the 18th century, Panama’s status as an economic stronghold had diminished. It was easier to take other routes to the oceans rather than going through Panama. There was also a pirate presence in the area which made it a less than popular choice for merchants to travel to and from. In 1821, Panama became part of Columbia.
  • Brief History Of Nudism And Naturism  By : Natalie Aranda
When scientists did a study on the genetic makeup of the common body louse, they were able to establish the approximate time that human beings first began to wear clothing. The louse is a parasite that feed on the human body, but can not do so with out clothing. The testing showed that humans first began to wear clothing 72,000 years ago. Since Homo sapiens have been around for 200,000 years, it appears that all humans have been nudists for over half the existence of the species.

In the historical area, there were less social and moral issues involved with nudity during the Classical period. In ancient Greece the human body was viewed as beautiful and was the subject of art. Athletes commonly were nude as they competed in events against each other, and the word gymnasium comes from the Greek root, gymnos, which means nude.

  • Good Things To Know About Franklin County  By : Dalvin Rumsey
A visitor to Franklin County will be charmed with the fresh air and the real taste of countryside. He or she will most surely enjoy the sight of the open, flowing land, as well as those of old farm houses and barns that have lasted there from the past years.

Should you stop beside a wooden house, you will be surprised that it still stands on its chipped rocks and cinderblocks. The roof may be covered in rust from years and years of cruel rain and sun. Such a wooden house is most likely to have a single room, but the view of the tall grassy field can only make up for that!

  • 5 Of The Greatest Restaurants In Dubai  By : Dalvin Rumsey
As you all know by now, Dubai is a city full of exciting things to see and to do. You can never get bored of Dubai. Wherever you may live, it keeps drawing you back to it, over and over, like being hypnothised by its magic. And with all these interesting things to do all day and all night long, you will most certainly get very hungry. So, in order not to waste any time and money experimenting dinning in strange places, I will suggest going to one of the top 5 of the greatest restaurants in Dubai: Al Muntaha, La Baie, Signatures, Al Boom Floating Restaurant. Don’t expect all restaurants to serve alcohol, as many of them, especially the ones at the cheaper end of the market, are not licensed to serve it. The sales tax of 10% is included in all bills, but the service charges are not always added to the bill, so prepare to leave a 10% tip.

The best restaurant in Dubai is Al Muntaha, located at the top of the Burj Al Arab hotel. Yes, it is suspended hundreds of meters above the Arabian Gulf! Imagine the slanted glass windows that give the restaurant the feel of a great ocean liner heading out to sea. Not to speak about the immaculate service they provide: starters like Caesar salad of seared scallops and mains the likes of grilled hammour or roasted prime beef rib with mustard crust. You can even have a delicious Scottish oatmeal ice cream if you miss home! It has been created John Wood, the executive chef.

Dubai Shopping Festival dates back to 1996, undergoing major changes and improvments since those times. Now, after being redeveloped, revamped and repackaged, it has become a very interesting and exciting event for visitors’ delight.

2005 was the peak year of the Dubai Shopping Festival, gathering over 1 billion pounds from over 3 million visitors. This was much more than the figures from 2004, and sales in 2006 are said to exceed the 2005 peak. This is a thing that has been confirmed by the tour operators and hoteliers in Dubai.
  • Dubai Tourist Capital Of The World  By : Dalvin Rumsey
The emirate was not even considered as a tourist location ten years ago. In 2005 Dubai's revenue per hotel guest was the highest in the world at $175, ahead of Las Vegas despite the emirate having no gambling. In this context the result was, very naturally, extensive investments in hotels: Dubai has 383 hotels with a capacity of 35,000 rooms, by the end of 2009 a further 140 hotels will be built roughly doubling the amount of rooms.

The Dubai Government’s latest investment is the $27 billion Bawadi project in the Dubailand theme park district which will add 31 hotels over the next decade. Including the largest hotel in the world: the Asia-Asia hotel (6500 rooms). Many other Government initiated projects include an Armani hotel, high-rises, of witch one is Dubai’s first Four Seasons, many hotels within the Dubailand theme park’s subdevelopment areas apart from Al Bawadi, and a joint venture with Kerzner International for the Atlantis hotel, the first of more than 25 to be built in the Palm, Jumeriah area… only to name a few of the buildings that shall house the waves of tourists that Dubai is expecting every year to visit. • Visiting The Us Capital  By : Kadence Buchanan -
Washington, D.C. is one of the most interesting cities one could visit. The capital city of the United States of America was named after George Washington, military leader of the American Revolution and the first US President. District of Columbia, which is the name of the federal district containing Washington, is governed by a single municipal government and for practical purposes it is administrated by a mayor. But although Washington, D.C. does not have a representative in the U.S. House of Representatives or Senate, the U.S. Congress maintains the supreme authority.

This small city is considered of extreme importance as all three branches of the U.S. federal government as well as many independent agencies headquarters are located in its area, like the World Bank and the International Monetary Fund. In addition, Washington, D.C. is the place one should visit in order to admire numerous national landmarks, visit museums-most of them have free entrance to the public-and get excited watching famous sports teams. In fact, Washington, D.C. has been a very popular destination among tourists, which is supported by the fact that every year million of visitors decide to tour the sights and sounds of the US capital. Its endless calendar of special events, like the Cherry Blossom celebration or the National Mall festivities, among a variety of free attractions, transform Washington, D.C. to a year-round inspiring experience for all its habitats and foreign visitors.
  • Travel Light  By : Kadence Buchanan -
How many times have you returned from a trip only to discover that at least some of the clothes you packed in your suitcase were left folded without ever seeing the light of the day? Well, I do not about your traveling packing skills, but I had to work on mine before being able to state that I am now officially a "light" traveler!

I still remember the first time I began packing for a trip overseas and laying out all those stuff I originally thought of carrying to the other side of the Atlantic. My bed was full and the carpet around it seemed pretty packed as well. I panicked when I dragged my "perfect-sized" suitcase inside the room only to discover that it could barely fit one third of the things I have placed on or near the bed. I recall laughing at the sight of the suitcase in comparison with the heavy load scattered around my bedroom. There was no way anything would fit in there! I placed the suitcase at an empty corner and before aborting this impossible mission, I tried to check off my list what seemed as unnecessary or over the top. For example, regardless of the cold weather, nobody needs three pair of gloves. The four pair of jeans became two, and so forth. By the time I had successfully stacked almost half of my previous previously exposed wardrobe back into my closet space, I felt hungry, confused, and that more than three hours have passed; even though this process took me not more than one. But then I discovered with pleasure that I was able to fit my belongings to my black medium-sized carry-on luggage and I felt proud of my accomplishment.
  • Travel To Paros Paradise  By : Jonathon Hardcastle -
Renowned since antiquity for its fine Parian marble, Paros is considered to be one of the most beautiful islands of the Aegean Sea in Greece and is one of the most popular destinations for tourists. The island is located in the heart of the Cyclades-the ring of islands located in the central of the Aegean Sea. Although Paros is often skipped on the shorter cruises in favor of the bigger-name islands in the Cyclades, like Mykonos and Santorini, Paros, which is one of the larger islands of the Cyclades constellation, offers numerous breathtaking natural beauties that attract thousand of visitors every year and make it one of the most exciting travel destinations around the world.

From ancient times already, due to its central geographical location in the heart of Aegean Sea, Paros became the leader island that changed the route of the Cyclades complex. Specifically, the island is located west of the Naxos island, east of Antiparos and 90 n.m. from the port of Piraeus. It is the third in size island after Naxos and Andros, with a 195 sq. km extend and a length of shores that reaches up to 118,5 km. As the boat approaches the island, the visitor will see Parikia, which is the main town, while one of the most cosmopolitan areas of the island is the amazing town of Naoussa.
  • The Other Side Of Traveling  By : Jonathon Hardcastle -
Although I have been living for almost two years now at the East side of the United States, I did not had the chance of visiting the West coast and wet my feet in the Pacific Ocean until very recently. A friend's visit from back home and an invitation to join her during her stay gave me the excuse I needed to base my decision that it was time to visit the other US side. But although I have printed out the necessary maps and have reserved and researched on every single location I planned to visit, one of the things I missed was checking the weather and packing my bag accordingly.

Even if my inability to think clearly had a justifiable excuse since I was about to see friends who I have not seen for a long time, the fact that I forgot to check the weather conditions of my destination and base my wardrobe on mere assumptions has been a mistake I would not want anyone else to make. Thus, the following points are actually my advice for you, which you should keep in mind whenever you plan to make a trip anywhere in the world, so as to have a pleasant stay and enjoy yourself and your company as much as possible.
  • Experience Adventure Tourism  By : Jonathon Hardcastle -
Another term for you to get excited about! Adventure tourism is a type of niche tourism involving exploration or travel to remote areas, where one is about to experience the unexpected. Rapidly growing, adventure tourism experiences great competition from other outdoor industry types of tourism, but the most important feature, or what is referred to as its unique selling point, is the fact it offers to those seeking unusual vacating times, a radically different perspective from the typical beach resort vacation.

With thousands of active vacation specialists, adventure tourism is the fastest-growing sector of tourism and a worldwide trend for adventure travel outfitters. Recommending a variety of trips to countless adventure destinations, from Alaska to Patagonia and beyond, adventure tourism can help you add that extra "spice" to your annual vacation holidays and enjoy the pleasures associated with ranch-based horseback riding, cycling through a wine country, or floating through the deepest canyons of Earth.

  • Flying Internationally On Chartered Planes  By : Nomad Rick
If you’re a budget traveler, chartered planes will cross your travel planning path at some point in time. The quality of charter flights can be both good and bad.

During certain times of the year, flying to a particular location can be very expensive. One way to beat the expense is to book a seat on a charter flight. I did this very thing once, booking a round trip ticket to Europe during the high season. The seat set me back $400, a savings of about $350 at the time.

  • Rent A Castle In Scotland  By : dave (Author)
With the profusion of restored castles throughout the UK, there has never been a better time to rent a castle for a family celebration or corporate event. After years of post war struggle for the owners throughout the years of crippling taxation and economic decline, the eighties saw a renaissance for Britain’s fine old homes (or certainly those that had survived). Sadly many had not and during the sixties Scottish ancestral homes were being pulled down at a rate of one a week. Happily a new era emerged where grants and other methods of financial support were made available and the surviving homes started to recover.

The owners faced huge challenges to raise the necessary funds and to restore their homes but many have bounced back and are now looking better than ever. To help pay for their continued upkeep, many homes and castles are now available for private rental on a weekly or long weekend basis. This offers guests the chance to live like lord, without the actual responsibility of owning a 12 bedroom pile with acres of gardens, thousands of acres and masses of estate buildings to maintain. For a fee of around £5000 a night a group of say 16 guests can take exclusive use of one of these fabulous homes and be wined & dined by the owner and their staff.

  • Bond With Music  By : Anil Gupta
Vienna is the music capital of the world. No other city evokes such immediate associations with the great classical composers and the king of waltz. The House of Music was opened in the First District, in 2000 as a museum of the 21st century. The building is a former Habsburg palace where Otto Nicolai, founder of the Vienna Philharmonic, once lived. The creative concept of the museum combines futuristic new media applications with a strong didactic element. Here visitors can learn how a musical instrument works and can try composition, conducting and playing. Barcelona camp nou has a capacity of 110,000 people and on every match practically every seat is taken -such is the passion for football shared by the Catalan people.

When Kubula arrived, the old Les Corts stadium proved to be too small and it was necessary to find a new site. From when the idea was first thought of until the day it was opened on 24th September 1957, there were difficult moments for the Camp Nou, but the dream eventually became a reality.
  • Barca - Football Fanatic  By : Anil Gupta
In the late 1800’s Hans Gamper and ten other enthusiasts were playing an unidentified game called ‘foot-ball’. When Gamper went on to found Barcelona Football Club on 29 November 1899, he could hardly have imagined the momentous events that would follow. Throughout some of Catalonia’s most difficult years, the flag represented the people's hopes for freedom, and today that very flag is the symbolic link which continues to represent the ties between a very special club and its’ supporters.

Barcelona is in the extremely enviable position of being the only team in Europe to have participated in every European Cup since 1955 the first year the tournament began. It also won the supreme continental prize. Their massive European trophy collection also includes the Cup Winners’ Cup, which the club has won no less than four times - making it undisputed king. In addition, Barca - common name for Barcelona Football club - accumulated three UEFA Cups in the 1958, 1960 and 1966 seasons. The Club retained the trophy in perpetuity after winning a special final in 1971, which paired together the first winner of the competition, FC Barcelona, against the last winner, Leeds United. However, Barca does not just reign in Europe but also in Spain, specifically in the Kings Cup, leading the ranking of winners in this competition with 24 titles.
  • Wintering In Vienna  By : Anil Gupta
Vienna has beautiful skiing resorts in its vicinity. It is hard to imagine in Vienna that snowy peaks are one hours drive away but that’s all it takes to get to Semmering, traditional fresh air spot for the city. Semmering can be crowded of course but its homey atmosphere and wide selection of winter sports make up for it. Beginners start on an almost flat bunny hill and for really little ones a ski playground is offered. If the kids don’t fancy skiing then rent a sledge. Across the road the larger slope has a dozen ski runs, a sledging run all the way down from the top and a lovely cross country trail around the back. February is time for the traditional Austrian ski holiday. The snow is piling up thick and deep in the glorious Austrian Alps, calling us to escape the miasma of Vienna.

St. Corona am Wechsel also about an hour south west of the city has been recommended by ski instructors as a good place to start small children. The couple that heads the ski school has small children of their own. Several locals have also recommended Annaberg to the southwest of St. Poelten.

The piste is 400 m long and is served by a t-bar lift. It features snow cannons and flood lights and allows therefore for night-time skiing.

  • Vienna Celebration Of Life  By : Anil Gupta
Vienna is giving a surprise with the incredible boom in its youth scene. Wild clubbing, hot gigs, day-long street parties, an entire island to live it up and a profusion of cafés and places to hang out make up the pulsating, young face of the venerable Danube metropolis today.

The classic beat for Vienna-scene freaks was and remains the Triangle around St. Ruprecht’s Church in the old town. The pubs here are trendy as well as full of life and zest with pubs like First Floor and Krah Krah, Ma Pitom, Kaktus or Ron con Soda.
