- Myspace Profile- Use It To Get Support By : CD Mohatta
Myspace profile is a showcase of the person we are. Everybody talks of his or her interest, hobbies, friends, and so on. The major attempt is to make myspace profile look good. Add videos, comments, layouts, music, backgrounds and everything else that makes the profile look good. Here I have a small question. Are all of us happy? Do we have no pain to show? Do we have miseries that we want to share? I think myspace profile can be used to make one's life happier by sharing the truth of pain as well as the happiness.
Write the truth of what happened to you in your life. If there are incidents that still traumatize you, write about them. Do not hid. Let your friends read about them. Some will laugh, but others will understand and extend their hands in help. They will support you when you need it most. Our problem is that we keep the worst pains hidden inside. That makes us miserable. Friends are for sharing everything. Do not hide anything from them. Tell them about what may be going wrong in your profile and they will send comments to put a balm on your hurt soul. Give a chance to your friends to know the real you. You will be surprised with the love and understand you get from them. Slowly they will also open up and this will make the bond real. Use your profile to talk about everything you feel good and bad. - Myspace Graphics- Say Happy Birthday With Them By : CD Mohatta
Wishing Happy Birthday to friends and family on their birthday must be one of the oldest traditions in the world. Nobody knows when the custom began, but today it is considered a must to wish friends and family on birthdays. Before the advent of myspace most of the people used ecards to greet. After myspace coming in picture and gaining fantastic popularity, no body on myspace thinks of any medium other than sending a graphic.
Birthday reminder- - Expressing Love Should Be Natural By : CD Mohatta
I looked in her eyes and I knew that she was in love with me. Her eyes told me that. I had asked him to meet me at five pm, and he was there at three thirty. I knew what was happening. His movements and his heartbeat told me all. I could see the fast steps that became faster when she reached me. I knew then. I was talking to him and he recited some old love poems he had written. He never made it appear as if the poems were written for somebody else. I knew that he was now reading them for me. Love, how to express love? Does it need any training? Or any books to read? Do love expressions need any guidance about what to do and what to avoid? It is natural.
Love is a divine feeling. Love is not for ordinary people who suspect a motive everywhere. Love is not for moneymakers who want to look for an opportunity everywhere. Love is not for those who are looking for a body. Love is for those who are searching for a soul that will give them heavenly joy. Love is for those who want to talk in silence. Love is for dreamers. Love is for losers, because they lose themselves in love. Love is for one who forgets the world in love. Love is a supreme feeling. - Men - Why Do You Batter Women? By : CD Mohatta
In this century when we all talk of exploring mars and reaching help to the deep corners of Africa, is it not only surprising and also shameful that some men batter their wives? Whatever we say, we cannot deny that women are getting battered. A syndrome has also been names after this - Battered Women syndrome. Why should men beat women? Let us look at this barbarism.
Frustration must be one of the reasons. Do men enjoy taking out their frustration of career failures and problems on women? Or they are sadists? If they do not like their woman, they should separate. How can they be allowed to beat women? That is reprehensible and barbaric. How can an educated man beat a woman? What drives him to do that? Is their any profile of such men who do this? - Love - Thoughts On Love By : CD Mohatta
Love is the word that makes one go into dreams of bliss and the word that can take one into pain. It all depends, how your love turned out. If you were stabbed in the back, pain will be the result and if you got loyalty, it will be pleasure. When one looks at the scenes of destruction of ones love, when one revisits the places where love had blossomed, below the flowering trees, one goes in to the memories of the lost love. It hurts and it hurts very badly. Similarly the love that enriches us can be invaluable. It gives a new breath, a new life. Love can give life and when lost, life may be lost. Call it addiction to love or whatever, love is a feeling that cannot be described in words. it has to be felt.
We hear about many break-ups and separations. What happened to the love that brought the couple together in the beginning? How can ex lovers talk of revenge? In love, there is no revenge. If your beloved stabs you in the back, you will not ask for revenge, because you loved and you still love. As I have yet to talk to someone who stabbed the beloved, I do not know about his or her thinking, but it must be that of - how could I do this? Or may be they are so evil that they applaud themselves for their backstabbing! - Are You A Caring Lover? By : CD Mohatta
What kind of lover you are? Do you care for your beloved? Or you are more concerned about what you get in love? Those who care in love always win at the end. Because their care shows in their character and they feel good that they care about someone.
Unless your love is not a synonym for physical relation, your love must transcend ordinary relationships. Let me give you an example. A mothers relation with her children is beyond and different from every other relationship. Similarly, if you truly love, you will care, because to love means to care. What about you? Are you a caring lover? - Quiz- Women, Find Out About Your Attraction By : CD Mohatta
Since ages women have considered looking beautiful a priority. This need not distract us away from their abilities as a human being which are no lesser than those of men and in many cases more than those of men. When we talk of attraction, beauty has always been associated with women. If you are a woman, how about quizzing yourself about your attraction?
Let us begin from what others think. That point of view may not be most important but is very important. How do others find you? Has someone complimented you about your particular qualities? Have men complimented about your beauty, or attraction. This may have been direct or indirect. Talk to some of your friend, both men and women. Find out what they think and seek their frank opinion. - Love - Forgiveness Is True Love By : CD Mohatta
Most of the lovers do not forgive their loved ones. They may forgive their sworn enemy, but they may not forgive their lover. Do you agree with me? Why is this so? It should have been exactly reverse. Why, let us discuss.
What is love? What do we understand by loving someone? How is love different than other relationships and emotions? In love, we give our whole mind and heart to our beloved. We try to keep our beloved most comfortable. We take care not to hurt our darling. In love, we care for each other. We are in the mood of giving in love. Giving always gives more pleasure in love than anything else. - What If Astrology Really Worked By : CD Mohatta
There is a large population which looks at todays forecast the first thing in the morning newspaper. Every one of them desires to find out about their day in the columns. Do the predictions come true? Let me talk about this. Most of the forecast columns have four to five predictions. Practically no body writes down all of them and compares the forecast with actual happening at the end of the day. What we do is to remember something of the forecast and if anything comes true, we are delighted. We forget that the other three to four forecasts did not come true.
That is human nature. We want to believe something and find ways to prove that right. This is what we do with forecasts. None of us wants to critically analyze them because we are subconsciously worried that they can prove to be largely false. We also like to hear about what good may happen. We are all tired with worries and anxieties that we want some assurance that things are not that bad and they will improve. Astrologers use that weakness very intelligently. - Love Test - Will You Dump Her Because She Is Taller? By : CD Mohatta
Let us take an example of a couple. The girl is taller than the man. They are both in deep love. They like each other and they want to be together. But conventions say that man should be taller than the girl. What should they do?
It is because of this belief that girl should be shorter than the boy, that both will be repeatedly taunted by their friends and family. They will be told that it all looks awkward. They will be obliquely advised to separate. The world never lets two lovers live in peace. The world always enters where it has no business. But the trouble is that we cannot go away and stay on a remote island. We have to live in the society and suffer. - WWE champion Rey Mysterio By : Little Money
Rey Mysterio a Wrestling Champion with very profession history. Rey Mysterio's actual name is Oscar Gutierrez and was born on December 12, 1974. Mysterio was taught by his wrestling legend uncle, Rey Mysterio SR., and made his professional wrestling debut in 1984. Rey Mysterio now enhabits in San Francisico, CA and has anouncced as his 619 ultimate wrestling maneuver after the district code number of his home city: Rey is now finally married to Angel and has a son and a daughter. - Love - Begin With Vigor After Failure By : CD Mohatta
Defeat in love is very disheartening. You love some body dearly and he/she does not reciprocate your feelings at all. Or you have already gone a long distance with someone and he/she goes alone after that. Any failure in love and dating takes the strength away. It kills something inside and the defeat makes another attempt look very difficult. Is this acceptable. Can life not be carried on after such defeats? Why get disheartened and blame ones fate? Why lower self-esteem? Why do all that self-beating?
Success is not our right, nor failure our destiny. Life is a hurdle race. Every life has its ups and downs. The winner is one who gets up after falling again and again. You will say - Easier said than done. I agree. Failure in love is very destructive. We invest quite a lot in love. After that when we face defeat, we feel cheated and helpless. We feel that fate has dealt poor cards to us. It is no doubt difficult to bear the pain. - Do You Look Friendly? Take These Quizzes By : CD Mohatta
Most of us visit gardens. Many times, we see the gardener working. How many of compliment and stop by the Gardner to ask about his life? We visit museums. Do we bother to meet the Administrator and congratulate for the good work being done by him/her? We come across many people in our life such as milkman, sales persons etc., but we never try to connect with them as human beings. We are always in a hurry to finish whatever it is and move.
Does this attitude connect us with people? Does it make us happy? With little change in our approach, we can become very friendly persons and get happiness as a reward. Ask a cabbie driver about his/her life and you will wonder about the kinds of problems these persons face. Our own problems will begin looking small. But we are always occupied. We have no time. - Test Your Shopping Style And Improve By : CD Mohatta
Human beings come in many types. So do our styles vary. All of us have our own unique style. Let us discuss few and find out how to improve our shopping style and how to test our shopping style.
Immediate shopper - this kind of shopper looks at something, likes it, finds the price and buys it. This shopper does not think why and how that product is better to others, nor cares to compare any prices. I like it, so I buy it. Shopkeepers love this shopper. - Know Your Personality Type By : CD Mohatta
Our world is made of all kinds of persons. Some do things as they have been done since ages. They talk, react, judge and act exactly as they have seen and taught. These kinds of people hate original and new ideas calling them dangerous for the world. On the other side of the spectrum are people who live life dangerously. They want to break every convention, every rule and live life on their own terms. They decide what they want to do irrespective of the outcome. The third type is original and mature.
The conventional types will never question anything. For them life has very few whys. They accept the way things are done, and meekly follow the leader. They are proud of their heritage and history, and changing trends will discomfort them greatly. - Personality Types- Aggressive Or Passive By : CD Mohatta
I am the world. The world must obey me. I can never be wrong. I know what is to be done and how. All of you must follow what I say without any protest, because I tolerate no dissent. I am the storehouse of all the knowledge and what I do not know is not worth knowing. I am the most intelligent person going around and though I don't show it clearly, I know that all of you are much lower than me in intelligence. I am the boss.
Please be with me. I do not know how to face the world. I will do what you say, but please protect me from this world. I don't know much and please guide me at every step. I need you. Please help me at all the times. - Procrastination – Why People Delay? By : CD Mohatta
To delay or postpone an action that needs to be done is procrastination. I will do this afterwards. There is enough time still. What do these people think by setting deadlines? I have my own priorities. This is boring. What I don't do this work at all? Ultimately what will I gain by doing this? Why cannot I have some freedom? Why everything needs to be done on time? These are all typical thoughts of a procrastinator. Rather if we finish a job in given time, we feel happier. But a lot many of us procrastinate. What are the possible reasons?
The first cause may be doing something means dropping something else which is more comfortable. Ask any smoker about when he/she proposes to drop the habit and the answer always mentions some time in future -never the present. Delay the process of pain and get as much pleasure as possible. But the pleasure that a procrastinator derives by delay is itself a pain. On the other hand if the procrastinator finishes the job in time, the pleasure of doing something unpleasant will be far greater. It also enhances self-esteem. But we still procrastinate. Is that not mysterious? - Money- The Paradox Of Money By : CD Mohatta
Money is probably the most commonly word used around the world. Money, without which lot many things cannot be done. If one has no money, one will have trouble even feeding oneself, leave aside shelter etc. What should be our attitude towards money? How much money should we accumulate and how much should we give away. How many morals and principals can be broken to get more money? And why should we earn more money than absolutely essential? There are many questions about money that come in to mind. Because since ages its money and power that has motivated human beings.
For few of us power matters more than money. And paradoxically money always brings power with it. But power may or may not bring in money. For example if you are the most important person of your country but highly principled, you will have total power but very little money. On the other hand some corrupt dictators have accumulated money beyond any imagination. - Everything You Do Is Right Day By : CD Mohatta
16th March is celebrated as the day when whatever you do is right. This is a very exciting thought. I searched for the origin but could not find any clue about how this day began. What precisely does this mean - Everything you do is right.
Let me put my ideas across about this day. In our everyday life whenever we do anything, it can be called right or wrong. Many a times, not only others, but we ourselves are in doubt about the right action. This creates anxiety and makes every decision making job a tough job. This dilemma about right or wrong takes the pleasure away from life. - Will You Live Together Till Your Death? By : CD Mohatta
Loving and living together make a wonderful life. If a couple is in deep love with each other, and loyal with the commitment of staying together till death, it will be a beautiful life. After all, we want relationships that survive. We want relationships that help us grow in life, fight the odds, and enjoy life.
Is this possible? The trend is to separate if there is any mismatch. How is it possible to find a partner with whom one can blissfully spend life together forever? To have such a blessed life, the first need is of caring for each other. When we genuinely care for the other person, we forgive a lot, we tolerate a lot and we adjust everything. The central reason is care. I care for my spouse. I love him/her and I know about all the habits that I hate and everything that is not very lovable. But my love and care looks away from all this and looks towards only one thing- care. Does a mother ever think of separating from her child? No- because she cares. And equally or rather more importantly, she can never imagine doing this. - Who Is Selfish? By : CD Mohatta
Who is not selfish in this world? Are all of us selfish? Do we always think of ourselves first? Will you call me selfish even if I donate a large part of my earnings? When will you call me a selfish person, and when will you say that I am not selfish? For that which qualities are needed in me? One more question - is selfishness bad always? Could the world have gone so forward if people were not selfish? Selfishness and selflessness, these two words can make us think about our society, our values, the world in bigger perspective, and ourselves. Let us begin.
A family earns money first to feed itself. If something extra is left, it may give a part to the society. It is for the family to decide about how much it will save for itself first and when and how much part of its surplus will it give to the society. If a family decides to save at least a year's expenses for itself and begin donating only after that, will you call it selfish? This is very subjective assessment. Am I correct? Another family, which has saved nothing for itself but begun donating, can call the earlier family selfish, and the earlier family can advise the second family to save for the rainy days first. This all sounds so confusing. - Wrong Blames Can Kill A Life By : CD Mohatta
To blame means to accuse someone of doing something wrong. It is very easy to put blame on a person when things begin going wrong and hammer that person left and right for being responsible for all the mess. Let us look at this further.
Sometimes, in our personal relationships, when we say that things are in mess, the truth may be different. The situation may not be messy, but our viewpoint may have become messy. What we call as going wrong may indeed be going wrong, but not in the way we look at it. Let me try to explain. Some of us lie. We get caught, or feel guilty. We blame someone for exposing our lie and making a mess of something good. Can a lie be good? We wished our lies to flourish and keep us safe from the bitterness of truth, but our comfort zone got broken because of the exposure. Is this bad? Or our viewpoint was wrong to begin with? When we think more, we find that truth may be very bitter and highly discomforting, but it is always better than a lie. Is it correct to blame a person who exposed our lies? But we do that. Blame the other person for making us face the music. What the other person did was correct but since it hurts us, we accuse. - Forgiveness By : CD Mohatta
One of the most debated subjects around the world is forgiveness. Somebody does something wrong, either against an individual, or against the society. To forgive means to pardon the accused with no resentment left. If forgiveness is complete, the act of offense is totally forgotten, as if it never took place.
To talk about forgiveness is easy, and to forgive is difficult. Many a times it becomes impossible for some of us. For example if I am a mother. A criminal kidnaps my child and then slowly kills my child in my presence to derive sadistic pleasure, how will I feel? What about the cries of pain of my dying child? Will my mind forget them? What of the helplessness that I felt? What about the expectation with which my child looked at me and felt sure that mother would do something to save him/her? What of the helplessness I felt? What about the memories of bringing up my child? What about the dreams that I had? What about the pain and torture my child underwent while dying? - Moral Dilemmas By : CD Mohatta
What is right and what is wrong? Who decides what is morally correct? How does one act so that one does not repent afterwards? This moral dilemma has been the subject of discussion since ages and many of us come across crossroads in our life when we are unable to decide about the morally correct action. Let me discuss this with a hypothetical example.
In my example, I have a couple deeply in love with each other. The husband is very protective and cannot bear someone even looking at his wife. The wife is an uneducated lady with no knowledge of any trade. Both love each other very deeply. One bad day, the husband is diagnosed with cancer and may die if not treated immediately. The family has no savings and the husband loses his job because of his sickness. The wife is helpless and does not know what to do? For her the future means watching her husband die slowly and surely. - Anyone To Care For You By : CD Mohatta
Are you a fortunate person to have someone in your life who cares for you? I don't mean care in the sense it is commonly used. But who cares for you like your mother used to, when you were a child? You are a grown-up person now. Does that imply that you don't need anyone to take your care? Don't you need someone to ask you if you are ok? And then to try and make you comfortable? Don't you need someone who knows what you like and then to arrange for it? Don't you need someone who will put balm on your aching legs? Who will smother you with love, when you feel lonely?
Don't you want someone to just come and sit beside you and talk to you in silence? Don't you need someone who will make you cry, because you want to, but can not because you are an adult? Don't you feel that you need someone in front of whom you can cry your heart out? And be sure that someone will wipe your tears? Or because you are adult, such things are not done? Even if one feels extreme pain of any kind, one can cry either in church or all alone in a park? We are adults. But there is a child in all of us. We are fighters, but sometimes we lose the battles. We can bear every pain, but sometimes the pain can overcome our capacity. We all need a person in our life, who can be our mother, even if we are eighty years old. Who can understand that we need care. We wish to be pampered. We want someone to take our face in lap and comfort us. Yes, we can deny all this, but we need someone who cares for us. - Death By : CD Mohatta
To die means to live no more. A person who was identified by a name, a family, a character, a nationality and many lovely values is no more. That person will never be found again on the earth ever again. A neighbor, who you see everyday, can not be found again even if you look for him/her around the earth all your life. What was taken for granted, is not there suddenly. Death has taken the life away.
Sometimes I wonder about soldiers. Most of them are very lovely people. They love not only their friends and family, but also their society. A soldier when not on duty is hurt as much as the rest of us by a death. But the same soldier thinks nothing about killing thousand others who also belong to a nation, a society, a family, a mother, children and wife. This soldier who gets so pained by a single death in his/her neighborhood, has only one object in the war - kill as many enemy soldiers as he can. Bring as much destruction as he/she can to the enemy. The word enemy and the word war change the context of thinking and emotions totally. - Discovering The Cosmos - Why By : CD Mohatta
I am not against any scientific enquiry. I support science and I fully support the work of science in making living better for all of this. My respect for science makes me think about something.
We are trying to send spaceships to the corners of the solar system. We are sending some that will go even beyond. We are trying to find out more about the surface of Mars and about satellites of Saturn. All this needs billions of dollars and millions of man-hours of the best brains of science. At this same time on our earth, there are countries, which are so poor that many children die of malnutrition. People have to walk many kilometers to fetch small quantity of water. Children die because they have nothing to protect themselves during the winter. There have no medicines to protect against early blindness and many other diseases that make their life hell forever. The world is as much full of poverty, as much of prosperity. - Who Is Evil By : CD Mohatta
The world is made of good and evil people. There are some, who are nothing but emperors of evilness. Hitler was one such person. There are many like him. But we also have evil persons in our society who are generally not considered evil, but are evil. Let me give my thoughts on such people.
For me, a person who hits a stray dog with a stone just for fun is a bad person. One who gives pains to friends for no reason is a bad person. One who looks at wrong things, and decides to do nothing is evil. One who hurts feelings of loved ones is a bad person. One who lets other people sleep in hunger without doing anything about them is a bad person. One who wants bigger share of the pie is a bad person. One who shouts and makes others fear him/her is a bad person. One who never tries to understand feelings of others is a bad person. One who treats poor people as dirt, is a bad person. One who decides about characters by looks and passes judgments is a bad person. One who reads a sad story in the newspaper, without getting affected in any way is a bad person. One who shows no respect for those who work for others is a bad person. One who does not sympathize at others losses is a bad person. One who always tries to prove his/her superiority over others is a bad person. On and on I can write. What is not good is bad. That is how I call such people bad. Rather than calling them as not good persons, I call them as bad persons. All this may look quite shocking and many will protest about what all I have written above. All right, let me say, that I will not call the person a bad person, but the act as a bad act. I hope that now I am more acceptable. - Of Humanity And Cruelity By : CD Mohatta
This is story of a girl. A girl supposed to have a very soft heart. A very sensitive girl. Someone one could call as a compassionate person. I will tell you about how she acquired her pet, rather two pets. And how one was beaten by her father and the other was beaten dead by herself. Let me begin.
She had gone to visit one of her relatives many years back. They had a litter of puppies. This girl fell in love with one of them and brought him back with her, only to face the wrath of her father. She was ordered to take the puppy back. This was a big shock and she was in tears. She talked about this with her other pet. A man. Someone she treated as her own child. They both cried together and this man prayed that the father allows her to keep her puppy. Ultimately the father relented after two days and all was well. - Pain Of Living By : CD Mohatta
Pain. Immense pain. Sometimes unbearable, and sometimes incomprehensible. So many of us live life in pain. The pain of decision-making. The pain of thinking about life. The pain of keeping dead relationships alive. The pain of memories that haunt us. The pain of fear. The pain of getting up in the morning and the pain of sleepless nights. The pain of loss of someone most dear and the pain of waiting for them to return. Pain, and more pain in everything.
It is life. The life of pain. Look at your own eyes in the mirror and many times you will see the pain of tiredness. The pain of trying to run away from pain. Why? Because, we all live. Yes, pain comes because we live. Only dead have peace. Or very small children or saints. Rest of us are in some pain at all the times. Pain becomes such an essential part of life that many times, we tend to forget that we are living in pain. We become unaware of a life of cheer, and a painless life. - Marriage Or Prostitution By : CD Mohatta
It is said that prostitution is the oldest profession in the world. To prostitute means to give someone the right to use the body for a sum. Do all the prostitutes sell their bodies for money only? Some might be selling their body for food, or a gift or something else. So, we can say that prostitution means selling the right to use the body for something in exchange.
I want to talk about a marriage where a woman sold her body for money and also few other things. She is the heroine of this story and lives in a conservative society, where pretenses are at times more important than truth. Our heroine was in deep love with a married man but had no guts to say so. Therefore she agreed to marry the villain of this story, a man who proposed marriage in front of her father. While getting married to this person, she cheated him. She lied to him by hiding her real love. But that is not the point of my story. Let me come to the basics. - About Apologizing By : CD Mohatta
We all make mistakes. Howsoever intelligent we may be, or wealthy, or experienced, we all make mistakes. Sometimes we realize, other times we don't. But we all make mistakes because we are human. Only God does not ever make any mistake.
Some of our mistakes hurt our interest. They don't hurt anyone else. But sometimes, we do few things knowingly or unknowingly that hurt others. That is the time to apologize. Why do many of us apologize immediately, and why do many of us avoid it? Why do many of us say sorry even for an insignificant hurt, while some wait for ages to sorry after committing gigantic blunders? That is a mystery. It all depends upon our thinking, our upbringing, our humility, our sense of right and wrong, and our opinion of others feelings and so on. But do we become smaller by saying sorry? Are we confessing a blunder by saying sorry? Are we hurting our ego by saying sorry? Certainly not. - Are All Of Us Cruel In Some Way By : CD Mohatta
The dictionary meaning of word cruel says - to make someone suffer or to give pain to someone. Are all of us cruel in our own ways? Some of us are more than others, but is cruelty a part of every personality?
Let us look at it from the other side? Don't we all feel that many times our friends, family and even the people dearest to us act in ways that hurt us? Sometimes, we tell them about it, and sometimes we ignore. But is it not true that all those who relate with us closely at some point in our life, hurt us? The hurt may not be by a deed. It can be words spoken harshly. It can be misunderstanding our motives and giving them different color. It can be accusing us for no fault of ours. Or it can be simply not trying to understand us. All these actions hurt us. Don't we think at that time that if the other party had been more understanding, we would have felt more comfortable? - Ingratitude Is Hateful By : CD Mohatta
We as human beings have many qualities, both good and bad. Some of our bad traits are not very harmful, but some are never forgiven. According to Hindu philosophy, God does not forgive ingratitude under any circumstances.
What is gratitude? Simply saying 'thank you' is at times enough to express our gratitude, whereas at times, we are helped so much by someone that mere words of thanks can never repay the help. This kind of help and sharing has to be remembered by us at all the times and we should make every effort to repay that. Even if we are not able to repay the gratitude in full, our very feeling of being obliged keeps our heart pure and makes our helper feel good. - Are You Lucky By : CD Mohatta
Do you have someone who can feel the pain in your eyes? Do you have someone who can understand the ache of your heart? Do you have someone who can understand your misery? Do you have someone who can understand your helplessness? Do you have someone who can wipe your tears? Do you have someone who will not ask you not to cry, but will give you a shoulder to cry upon? Do you have someone who waits for you? Do you have someone who keeps awake with you? Do you have someone who will talk to people on your behalf? Do you have someone who will feel the pain of your life? Do you have someone who knows that you don't want to live, but are forced to live? Do you have a true companion?
I am not talking only about a wife or a husband or a friend or a companion? Anyone it can be. But do you have someone who understands you and who is with you always? If yes, you are a very lucky person. God has given you all the luck you wanted. Because getting a person like what I talked above is very difficult. You will rather find that during your time of hardships, pains and misery, you are alone. No one will understand your actions or motives. They will argue with you. They will suggest you. But they will not be with you. You will have to face your misery all alone and on that day, you will cry for someone who understands you. - Am I Wanted By : CD Mohatta
Am I wanted? Does anyone need me? Have you ever asked these questions to yourself? If no, you are a very lucky person. Let us talk more on this subject.
We all have our self-esteem. Along with our self-esteem, we also have a desire that someone should need us. That someone should want us. A mother is delighted when her children come shouting to her and ask for food. As the children grow up, they become self-reliant and move away. The mother is no longer wanted by them for anything. This creates a vacuum in her life, that she tries to fill with other work, but the satisfaction is not same. This is equally true for fathers. It is equally true with office workers who are depended upon for any task. If they feel that they are not wanted, they not only lose their self-esteem, but also feel very lonely - The Knife Culture In Britain By : Blueboy
Britain has currently got a knife amnesty in place. This where people are able to hand in their knives without the fear of prosecution, the amnesty is in place until the end of June. The hope is that it will reduce the amount of crimes involving knives including of course murders. The last amnesty was very successful according to the latest reports and one can only hope that this latest attempt also proves to be a success. Something needs to be done as I am hearing about more and more deaths at the hands of this knife culture and the problem seems to be getting out of control.
I have had personal experience about Britains knife culture. When I was about eighteen years of age I went out for a few drinks with a number of my close friends. We all ending up getting quite drunk and I ended up walking home with three of these friends. On the way home we passed a group of four men all in their twenties. They pushed passed us in an aggressive way making a number of nasty comments at the same time. - The Decline Of The Local Newspaper By : Blueboy
I have recently been hearing about how our local newspapers (in the UK) are falling into decline due to a raft of competition from various alternative media sources such as the internet.
I live in Birmingham and I am the type of person who loves to play and watch sports. Where I live we have a famous Saturday nights sports paper which arrives in the shops at around 6pm, it is called The Sports Argus and is pink in colour. This paper has been a must buy for my family for as long as I can remember and it includes all of the days football results and the latest football tables. It also has match reports from all of the local teams as well as a lot of information about other sports including the horse racing and its results. This paper will no longer be available as it appeared in the shops for the last time around three weeks ago. - Lucky Escapes From Terrorist Attacks By : Blueboy
I have met many people over the last number of years in my business line of work, stammering tuition, and have heard a couple of remarkable stories of how they narrowly avoided a terrorist attack.
The first was a man who was in New York at the time of the attack on the twin towers. He and his friends from England had been in New York for around a week and were due to fly back home on September 11th. On the tenth of September they decided to go to the twin towers, firstly to have a look and secondly to take some photos from the top. - Ethical Issues About Organ Donation By : Natalie Aranda
Organ donation has resulted from the advances in medical techniques that have made it a very viable choice. When the technology did not exist, it was not an issue. Today, an average of 74 people per day receive a life saving organ transplant, but at the same time, an average of 19 people die each day waiting for a transplant that never comes. The entire issue has raised serious ethical concerns and the debate over them rages unabated. As further advances are made in such areas as cloning, the ethical debate should grow more intense.
The ethical questions are complicated by an outgoing debate over the definitions of certain key terms such as life, death, human, and body. One example is the definition of the idea of brain dead. People have been confused over the issue because of the highly public cases of people recovering from comas even after many years. The distinction between the idea of brain dead and comatose becomes a matter that must be clearly defined. A family that is asked to donate body to science of a brain dead relative must be confident that there is no hope of recovering - The Growth Of Gated Communities And Their Impact Of Social Segregation By : Natalie Aranda
Gated communities have always been with us. This dates back to the very earliest civilizations where the very wealthy have favored high walls and closed gates that have turned their communities into very private communities. In addition to providing increased security, the purposes of these communities were to foster segregation, and increase the sense of exclusion. Put bluntly, the rich desired to separate themselves from their less socially advanced neighbors.
In recent years there has been an increase in the construction of gated communities in the United States. At the same time, these communities are becoming less the exclusive haven of the very rich, and have become more and more the choice of the upper middle class and even middle class homeowner. The major reason cited for this increase is the desire for more personal safety. Fueled by a media that almost constantly bombards us with images of violence and crime, people have become more fearful. The idea of the walls and the controlled access gates promises an escape from this fear. Inside the walls, surrounded by neighbors who share their values, people feel safer. The are not as fearful to approach old age, or raise their children there. - Why So Many People Are Identity Theft Victims By : annmarier (author)
So many people out there today have been identity theft victims, and there are many explanations for this. Basically, there are so many identity theft victims largely in part due to the fact of how technologically advanced the world has become.
After all, there is practically no one out there today that does not have or use a computer, and so that right there goes to show why there are so many identity theft victims. - How To Stop Becoming One Of The Identity Theft Statistics By : annmarier (author)
Identity theft statistics show that hundreds of thousands of people become victims of identity theft every year. The identity theft statistics show lots of numbers, but they do not really show the horrors of this crime. The victims can suffer for many years because of this crime. They lose thousands of dollars every year, and their lives become totally disrupted because of this crime. The identity theft statistics show that people in some states are more likely to suffer from the results of this crime than those in other states. The numbers show that people in California are more vulnerable than others to the effects of this crime.
Identity theft not only takes away money, but it also steals one’s name and reputation. The money is probably the least part of the problem from this crime. Most banks and credit card companies have protections for their customers, and often these protections replace much of the stolen money. The problems arise when others take jobs in the name of the person affected by identity theft. These criminals sign up for social security when they take these jobs. They also sign up for credit cards that often go delinquent. - Identity Theft Books Are A Useful Guide To Help Prevent Identity Theft By : annmarier (author)
There are many different reasons as to why you should get yourself identity theft books, and the most obvious is so that you can learn about identity theft in general and so that you can protect yourself from being an identity theft victim as much as you possibly can. There are so many different identity theft books out there, and you want to make sure that you get as many as you can so that you can be as informed as you possibly can.
More About Identity Theft Books - The Classic Beauty Of A Dior Handbag By : Michelle Bery -
For women, there’s no greater luxury than designer clothing – those beautiful outfits we wait for every season – brought to us by design houses that are synonymous with upscale fashion. But just as designer clothes are revered and desired, so are designer handbags. What may be a functional accessory for some, is a fashion statement for others. And for those people, the Dior handbag rates high on the list of desirable handbags.
French designer, Christian Dior, opened his first design house in 1949 in New York City. But his designs began years before that – embraced by an audience hungry for new creativity. Before long, Dior was a name inseparable from high fashion and enthusiasts awaited the new pieces that were added to the collection year after year. But before long, the Dior handbag was a part of the Dior collection – a glamorous and functional accessory that was eagerly awaited by consumers. - The Best Bed Shopping Tips By : Dalvin Rumsey
Many people, who intend to purchase new furniture, or at least a new bed for their homes, often face the problem of choosing the best option to suit their needs. There are numerous ways of getting up to date with the types and prices of the beds available in the stores at the moment, but the most comfortable ones are visiting a web site or a web directory that is specialized in this sort of things as furniture.
If until some years ago the town library was the ideal place to find out all the information on the bed products you were aiming for, now the times have changed a lot. The enormous advances regarding the internet have made people not want to waste any more time walking the streets in a desperate effort to find the perfect piece of furniture. The actual bed shops are not the place to get informed anymore, as the best sources of free bed data, good bed product knowledge can easily be found by means of a web search. The truth is that these interior design sites are a very rich source of guidance! - Intercultural Communication And Globalization By : Dalvin Rumsey
Today’s governments, organisations and companies are dealing more and more in a global scenario. We are no longer constrained by borders or distance and as a result globalization has meant a fundamental change in who, where and why we do business. The people that make these organisations tick, from the workers, to bosses to suppliers, are increasingly based in remote locations in foreign countries or drawn from a rich mix of cultural backgrounds. The need for effective and clear intercultural communication is becoming vital in securing success in today’s globalized workplace.
What is intercultural communication? In short, it has many definitions but fundamentally it looks at how people, from differing cultural/national backgrounds, endeavour to communicate or work together. It draws on areas within academia such as cultural anthropology, sociology and business studies to provide it with a basic framework. Notable academics that have become specialized in intercultural communication are Hall, Hofstede and Trompenaars. At its foundation, intercultural communication’s objectives are to establish and understand how people from different cultures behave, think or do. Once this is appreciated it is then possible to help people overcome intercultural differences and make for a better (working) environment. - Good Things To Know About The Caribana Festival By : Dalvin Rumsey
The city of Toronto in Ontario, Canada is the annual host of a festival dedicated to the Caribbean culture and traditions, called Caribana. Every summer, this Carnival-style event on the lakeshore of Toronto gathers hundreds of thousands of tourists from all over the world. It is quite obvious why it has slowly become North America's largest street festival. It is being held in Toronto from mid-July until the first week of August.
The Caribbean Cultural Committee (CCC) is the nonprofit organization that runs most of the events during the Caribana Festival. The over 1 million people that visit Toronto during the events bring in over $300 million to the Canadian economy. - Why Do We Celebrate Birthdays By : Sam Vaknin
Why do we celebrate birthdays? What is it that we are toasting? Is it the fact that we have survived another year against many odds? Are we marking the progress we have made, our cumulative achievements and possessions? Is a birthday the expression of hope sprung eternal to live another year?
None of the above, it would seem. - The Familiar Gone Awry By : Sam Vaknin
In this nightmarish world of ours even the erstwhile comfortingly familiar has gone awry and menacing.
Birds, those soaring symbols of liberty and beauty now carry death and devastation in the form of avian flu. - Ethical Relativism And Absolute Taboos By : Sam Vaknin
I. Taboos
Taboos regulate our sexual conduct, race relations, political institutions, and economic mechanisms - virtually every realm of our life. According to the 2002 edition of the "Encyclopedia Britannica", taboos are "the prohibition of an action or the use of an object based on ritualistic distinctions of them either as being sacred and consecrated or as being dangerous, unclean, and accursed". - Oklahoma’s Approach To Sex Offenders By : Kadence Buchanan -
Despite the fact that America boasts of one of the most effective judicial and criminal systems in the world, we still struggle mightily with the problem of dealing with sex offenders who prey on innocent victims. American society has yet to find an ideal approach to dealing with this social problem.
This concern has resurfaced in recent weeks due to various high-profile sex crimes in media. With the dearth of an effective national approach to the problem states and cities have tried to deal with sex offenders in their own way. For instance, California has instituted a two-year civil commitment for convicted sex offenders, which means that these sex criminals will serve another two years locked up in a prison facility in addition to the official sentence handed down by the court in their case. - How Can Society Stop Sexual Predators By : Kadence Buchanan -
Perhaps society holds the lowest regard of all for sex predators, those evil men who prey on that which we hold closest to our hearts as people and parents – our children.
The recent news about John Mark Karr, the former school teacher who allegedly sexually molested and killed 10-year-old JonBenet Ramsey, has been a jarring experience that has reminded us of their ruthlessness and savage nature. Once again, we find ourselves asking, how do we put an end to all this? - American Women Earn Less Than Men By : Kadence Buchanan -
Men will probably grin and women will naturally grumble, but a new study reveals the fact that in the USA, women professionals earn less than their male counterparts. And here’s what takes the cake: it may actually be the women’s fault why they are making less than the guys.
According to the survey released recently at the annual meeting of the Academy of Management, women do not charge as much for their professional services as their male counterparts despite providing the same kind of work. The study said the reason for this is the woman’s “concern for relationships with clients.” - Shopping For Madness By : Kadence Buchanan -
It is rightly believed that women have more idle time than the race of men. When they want to spend time doing something they have a few options that they consider and the one option that attracts them the most and they go for without giving it a second thought is shopping.
Whether they are watching television, or reading newspapers or magazines they tend to come across advertisements. Sales, discounts, newly designed accessories, free gifts and such enticing and provoking commercials appear before their eyes everywhere they go. Commercials basically target women because they are easily goaded. The hard - Domestic Violence And Women By : Kadence Buchanan -
Every single day a number of health care professionals have to encounter an incident of an abused victim turning to them to request help. But even of you are not a trained professional you should be familiar with what domestic violence is and what it can do to victims. Then you will be better prepared to react correctly in case you encounter such an unfortunate incident. Helping the victim regain a sense of control over his or her life should not be your responsibility if you are not a trained professional, but being informed can sometimes save a victim from keeping everything within and self-destruct.
Domestic violence is characterized as a pattern of coercive behaviors that may include repeated battering and injury, psychological abuse, sexual assault, progressive social isolation, deprivation and intimidation. Someone who is or was involved in an intimate relationship, with the victim, might perpetrate these behaviors. According to official data from law enforcement units and medical institutions, gender plays an important role in dynamics of abuse. Over 85 percent of reported victims of domestic violence are women and most perpetrators are men. Moreover, domestic violence is the leading cause of injury to women of all ages and the leading cause of injury to pregnant women and ladies between 18 and 44 years of age. - Prozac Returns By : Kadence Buchanan -
In the late eighties and early-nineties, Prozac was pronounced as the new wonder drug, a magical cure for depression that was patronized by millions of people worldwide. Prozac was later discredited when murmurs spread that it could spur suicidal tendencies in regular users. These days, Prozac is making a big comeback in the most unlikely of places: law enforcement.
Online news reports last June 25 graphically detailed the latest plan of the United Kingdom to control sex offenders - feed them with Prozac until they're calm as lambs. It seems the British government, impressed with Prozac's calming effects, plans to administer the controversial drug to jailed pedophiles and other sex offenders. In doing this, they hope to tame the beastly nature of the inmates and shackles their libidos so they do not commit any more heinous crimes. - The Chinese Symbol Of Accepting Change By : Kadence Buchanan -
Tao or Dao is a Chinese character that refers to a pivotal feature of Chinese philosophy and religion. One of its most generic translations is that of "the way" or "head path." Those who have studied its meaning, place it in a variety of concepts, like that of religion, knowledge, rationality, morality, duty or truth. Central component of Taoism, Tàijítú, which is the black and white symbol of Tao, is considered to convey the fundamental force of nature, or the "noble way" of personal conduct in life. From its discourse as the "Great Tao" or the guiding principle behind all universal processes, Tao extends beyond being and non-being and is considered to transcend the boarders of space and time.
The all-present Tao is the intelligent ordering principle behind the unceasing flow of change in the natural world. In fact, Tao has gained its great significance within its believers as being another theistic representation of the Greek concept of logos or better stated that of God. Tao is the essence of reality and the understanding of change. In fact, many consider it impossible to describe it and concentrate on feeling and observing its different meanings. Its two colors represent antithesis and conjunction, as black is considered to be the absence of light, while white represents the light in all its states. For Chinese philosophers, the black represents the yin or feminine principle, while the white represents the yang or masculine principle. In essence, Tao is the relation between these two opposite but nevertheless complementary principles. Consequently, Tao is the flow of energy in any living object and symbolizes the way in which these two principles behave in life. With the two opposite colored dots inside each complementary feature of the tàijítú image, Chinese reveal the fact that within Yin there is a little of Yang; the white dot inside the black portion of the symbol and reversely. Some argue that this represents the love Yin and Yang feel for each other and thus they enter each other's spheres and interact with each other's nature. - Avoid Being The Next Date Rape Victim By : Kadence Buchanan -
Going out on a date, should be equivalent to a fun experience that people would be fond of doing. Unfortunately, due to ever-increasing incidents of date rape, especially women seem today reluctant to go out with men they barely know and even if they do are extremely afraid of opening up or letting themselves drink a glass more than usual. Date rape has entered the US college life, the work premises, the friends' parties and the city's bars. Instead of people meeting other people and exploring the possibility of a romantic relationship with each other, sexual frustration and deprivation leads to criminal behavior. As long as some unscrupulous individuals decide to take advantage of a particular situation and use the trust they receive from the women they date against their safety and well-being, thousands of women are led to the psychologists' chairs scarred for life.
Since under normal circumstances, no woman wishes to experience what it feels like to be a helpless rape victim, women of all ages should be informed on what to watch out so as to reduce their chances of becoming a number in the ever-growing social ill that continues to increase every year. One should keep in mind that reading the following advice is imperative as the recent statistics show that women between the ages of 16 and 24 are 4 times more prone to date rape. - Simple Grooming Tips For Men By : Kadence Buchanan -

Razor blades can be quite expensive. With all the new innovations in shaving coming out, it seems like you need to spend tons of cash buying new blades all of the time. However, there is an often overlooked method of keeping your razor blades sharp that can allow you to reuse the blades more often. After you finish a shave, remove the razor blade head and dry it. Next, douse the blade in a shallow bowl of mineral oil. Leave the blade in this solution until you are ready for your next shave. When the time comes, clean off the blade with some rubbing alcohol. You're all set! - Global View Of Corporal Punishment By : Kadence Buchanan -
Is it right to discipline kids with spanking and other forms of corporal punishment?
Opinions vary greatly from country to country and the subject is often a source of great debate.
There are many countries that legally ban and condemn the practice of corporal punishment for children such as Austria, Sweden, Finland, Norway, Cyprus, Denmark, Latvia, Croatia, Bulgaria, Germany, Israel, Iceland, Romania, Ukraine and Hungary. - The Disintermediation Of New Technologies By : Kadence Buchanan -
In economics, disintermediation is the removal of intermediaries in a supply chain. Disintermediation is often the result of high market transparency, in that buyers are aware of supply prices direct from the manufacturer. As a result, buyers bypass the middlemen (wholesalers and retailers) in order to buy directly from the manufacturer and thereby pay less. Buyers can alternatively elect to purchase from wholesalers, but most often, a buyer-to-consumer intermediary functions as the bridge between buyer and manufacturer. A few years ago, scholars wrote that the Internet would "disintermediate" industries or eliminate middlemen. Instead, the lower cost of selling over the Net and its immense appeal have produced even more middlemen, which helps explain the success of the search giant Google and the online marketplace eBay.
Technology offers a vast variety of different choices to the end user and the social implications of their adoption create the appropriate atmosphere for people to debate their usefulness and consequences. But whether one is a supporter or an opponent of this technological evolution, the new reality introduced by the adopted technologies surpassed the creators' intentions and emerged into this new "real" world in which relationships evolve, people exchange information, work or even develop themselves as citizens. At the same time, word abbreviations, images, Avatars, icon-bars, virtual reality games or weblogs, are some of the multiple ways with which new technologies have altered the way people interact and have managed to create new subcultures and representations of reality. The adopters of these communication methods relate heavily on the existence and improvement of the used medium, as it must continue to incorporate the advances of other practices and continuously be updated. - Students Chip In To Help Katrina Victims By : Kadence Buchanan -
While most college students on spring break are busy sunning up and partying down in exotic locales such as Cancun, there are others who are content to sacrifice their spring break to help those less fortunate. The deadly hurricane Katrina caused irreparable damage to New Orleans and its surrounding areas, and many sympathetic college students stepped up to the plate to help those in need. Several different charities helped to organize the event which featured the students assisting in a multitude of ways, from cleaning up flooded elementary schools to helping rebuild roofs. At some estimates, ten thousand college students showed up to lend their time.
Students came from across America, showing their dedication to charity work and helping those in need. The students often paid out-of-pocket the costs associated with traveling to the broken city, and many groups stayed in sleeping bags in gymnasiums that offered little comfort or privacy. The selflessness of the individuals associated with this cause truly has to be commended. At an estimated $20 per hour salary, these students donated more than $20,000,000, and while there's much more work to be done, it represents definite hope for the future generation. - Weird Weather News By : Jonathon Hardcastle -
We are half-way through this warm weather month of August and the heat has become something of a burden and a hassle for many of us. Good thing the weather can be a source of amusement too sometimes. There were two reports last week about the weather that just made me smile. I’m re-telling them here in an effort to provide you with something to smile (or smirk) about this summer.
The first report, which originated from Moscow in Russia, recounted how Alyona Gabitova, a Russian woman from the town of Uljanovsk, was suing local weather forecasters for making a wrong prediction about the weather that ultimately ruined her holiday trip. - Astronomy By : Jonathon Hardcastle -
The stars have always been a fascinating subject. Perhaps that's one reason why astronomy is so popular these days.
In essence, Astronomy isn't just about studying stars, as most people think. It's actually a study of celestial objects, which includes not only stars but also planets, comets and entire galaxies. In fact, Astronomy also studies different phenomena that come from outside of the earth's atmosphere, such as auroras and cosmic background radiation. - Wearing A Red Ribbon By : Jonathon Hardcastle -
On February 7, 1985 at 2:00 p.m. the US Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA) agent Enrique (Kiki) Camarena was attacked by five men while opening his truck doors intending to drive and meet his wife for lunch. The beige Volkswagen were he was forced in disappeared that warm winter afternoon in the streets of Guadalajara, Mexico. One month later, Camarena's body was found savagely and grotesquely murdered.
When Camarena joined the US DEA, after having served as a Marine and becoming a police officer, his mother tried to convince him to resign, but he was determined to make a difference. In 1974, he was transferred to Guadalajara, Mexico, the center at the time of the drug trafficking empire and working as an undercover agent was investigating a major drug cartel believed to include officers in the Mexican army, the police and the government. A firm believer of the notion that even one person can make a difference in this world, Camarena, at the age of 37, sacrificed his life to prevent drugs from entering the United States schools and streets. - Basic Human Societies By : Jonathon Hardcastle -
The word "society" refers to a group of people who occupy a certain territory and possess a distinct culture, characteristics and institutions. Oftentimes, societies are also held together by a system of shared beliefs or common goals.
There are four types of human societies based on means of subsistence. These are the hunter-gatherer societies, nomadic pastoral societies, horticulturalist or simple farming societies and intensive agricultural societies (civilizations). Some classifications also list industrial and post-industrial societies, although this may fall under agricultural societies. - A Social Group With Substance By : Jonathon Hardcastle -

Space. The great beyond. Are we alone in the galaxy? Researchers at the Search for Extra-Terrestrial Intelligence, or SETI, have pondered the question for years. Drawing on high-powered radio telescopes, SETI has been scanning the stars for years, searching for answers to the questions that our existence poses. While the search has relied upon private funding and dedicated researchers for years and years, they've created an opportunity to help the search from the courtesy of your own home.
A program was created by the researchers to help coordinate data analysis, which they dubbed SETI@home. The program is a client which can be downloaded from the website http://setiathome.berkeley.edu and it allows armchair scientists a chance at discovering rogue signals from alien galaxies. Self-governing, the program downloads chunks of data that were picked up by SETI's telescopes and analyzes it for any possible anomalies. Launched in May of 1999, the program has seen much success as a means for processing large chunks of data. Functioning like a virtual supercomputer, the processing power used on a day-to-day basis for scanning the skies is enormous. Over 5.2 million people have participated in the program worldwide, contributing over two million years of computing time collectively. As of April 17th of 2006, the processing power of the computers linked to SETI@home rests at around 250 Teraflops. By comparison, the strongest supercomputer in the world, Blue Gene, can process 280 Teraflops, slightly more than the SETI network. There are plenty of dedicated individuals giving their computer's processing power to the site. - Two Views Of Social Responsibility By : Jonathon Hardcastle -
Government regulation and public awareness are external forces that have increased the social responsibility of business. But business decisions are made within the company. Two contrasting philosophies, or models, define the range of management attitudes toward social responsibility; the economic and the socioeconomic model.
According to the traditional concept of business, a firm exists to produce quality goods and services, earn a reasonable profit and provide jobs. In line with this concept, the economic model of social responsibility holds that society will benefit more when business is left alone to produce and market profitable products that society needs. To the manager who adopts this traditional attitude, social responsibility is someone else's job. After all, stockholders invest in a corporation to earn a return on their investment, not because the firm is socially responsible and the firm is legally obligated to act in the economic interest of its stockholders. - The Vast Potential Of Human Cloning By : Jonathon Hardcastle -
Think of a world where infertile, childless couples can go to a medical clinic, purchase cell replacements for malfunctioning cells in the reproductive system and, thus, bear kids; a world where people afflicted with degenerative diseases like Parkinson's and Alzheimer's Disease can replace their damaged cells and be cured again; a world where the crippled can get the much-needed cells to revive their spinal chord and walk again.
Those amazing medical and scientific feats are only the tip of the iceberg when the potential of human cloning is concerned. Developed to its extreme, human cloning can make disease and sickness, maybe even physical suffering altogether, a thing of the past. - Do Mass Media Influence The Political Behavior Of Citizens By : Jonathon Hardcastle -
Outside of the academic environment, a harsh and seemingly ever-growing debate has appeared, concerning how mass media distorts the political agenda. Few would argue with the notion that the institutions of the mass media are important to contemporary politics. In the transition to liberal democratic politics in the Soviet Union and Eastern Europe the media was a key battleground. In the West, elections increasingly focus around television, with the emphasis on spin and marketing. Democratic politics places emphasis on the mass media as a site for democratic demand and the formation of "public opinion". The media are seen to empower citizens, and subject government to restraint and redress. Yet the media are not just neutral observers but are political actors themselves. The interaction of mass communication and political actors — politicians, interest groups, strategists, and others who play important roles — in the political process is apparent. Under this framework, the American political arena can be characterized as a dynamic environment in which communication, particularly journalism in all its forms, substantially influences and is influenced by it.
According to the theory of democracy, people rule. The pluralism of different political parties provides the people with "alternatives," and if and when one party loses their confidence, they can support another. The democratic principle of "government of the people, by the people, and for the people" would be nice if it were all so simple. But in a medium-to-large modern state things are not quite like that. Today, several elements contribute to the shaping of the public's political discourse, including the goals and success of public relations and advertising strategies used by politically engaged individuals and the rising influence of new media technologies such as the Internet. - Building Groups Into Teams By : Jonathon Hardcastle -
People working on teams such as quality circles, project groups, or autonomous production teals accomplish the majority of an organization's work. However, some groups work like a dream team, appearing to accomplish miracles, while others generate nightmares. What makes the difference? The answer lies in appropriate group membership, structures, processes and training. If group members with appropriate skills and attitudes are trained to understand their own and other' role requirements, they can develop to collaborate without dysfunctional conflicts to achieve common objectives. However, firms have several paradoxes to manage.
One is that the cohesiveness that groups develop, when members value their association with one another and their common goals can promote enhanced satisfaction and extra synergy, but it can also reinforce resistance to change and underachievement if members need to relinquish behaviors that are accepted as group norms. - Michelle Wie Is The Real Deal By : Jonathon Hardcastle -
Golfer Michelle Wie has gained worldwide attention for her attempts to compete in the men's PGA Tour, about how she has come so close (one stroke short of qualifying for the 2004 PGA Tour Sony Open) yet never quite made the cut. .But let's not forget that she also deserves our attention for her outstanding golf prowess and for her remarkable accomplishments to date. She may not yet have what it takes to compete with the big boys, but Michelle Wie is the real deal.
Witness the amazing records that the 16-year-old prodigy has set in such a short time: youngest player ever to qualify for an adult USGA-sanctioned tournament -age 10 years, 9 months, 24 days (2000 Women's U.S. Amateur Public Links); youngest player ever to qualify for an LPGA tournament - age 12 (2002 LPGA Takefuji Classic); The youngest winner (male or female) of an adult USGA-sanctioned tournament - age 13 (2003 Women's U.S. Amateur Public Links); youngest player to make a cut in an LPGA tournament and major - age 13 (2003 Nabisco Championship); youngest player to play in a PGA Tour event - age 14 (2004 Sony Open);lowest round by a female in a PGA Tour event (also the first female to score a sub-70 round in PGA Tour history) - 68 (2004 & 2006 Sony Open)l youngest player to play in Curtis Cup history - age 14 (2004); youngest female to make a cut in any professional male tour event - age 16 (2006 SK Telecom Open); first female medalist in a men's US Open qualifying tournament - age 16 (2006 US Open Local Qualifying at Turtle Bay Hawaii). - Reading The Signs Of The Times By : Jonathon Hardcastle -
Several decades ago, Mohandas K. Gandhi warned against what he called the seven social sins: politics without principle, wealth without work, commerce without morality, pleasure without conscience, education without character, science without humanity, and worship without sacrifice.
Gandhi's social sins point to the crucial relationship between our ethics and our public life. That relationship has proven in the 21st Century to be the main subject in scholarly debates and the primary focus of constant questioning regarding the future course of human interaction, in relation to the latest technological advancements. In the vast global marketplace, people have to redefine themselves according to their needs and classify their wants/desires along a streamline of corporate offers. Incorporating ethos, dignity and self-awareness in this new technological era has become more than a challenge for today's consumers. At the same time, corporate actors begin to steadily realize that their survival depends heavily on recognizing this battlefield and to act proactively so as to come up with innovative flexible channels to service their targets. Redefining these new competent and knowledge markets has become for firms a must that needs to be carefully planned before attempting to indulge consumer minds. - Displacing Institutions And Civic Engagement By : Jonathon Hardcastle -
Since the introduction of traditional institutional forms of communication, like the press and telephony, people have been engaged in numerous discussions regarding their role in the process, their power to alter or affect technological innovations, their reactions to adopt or reject the latest manifestations. Academic debates and endless public discussions resulted in a situation where no right or wrong answer prevailed. All were possible, everything was applicable. As historians emphasize, most people seemed reluctant to accept newer forms of communications as they were trying to sustain a certain way of living, secure their position in society and most importantly, maintain a clear focus between the old and the new needs that evolved. Thus, the outcome of any suggested displacement became one of the central focus points in cultural studies, politics and other sciences, since the disintermediation was able to blur the ground upon which an action could be decided and a conclusion reached.
One of the most important institutions that has been threatened to be displaced, if not in its entirety, in at least some of its functions, was that of the family. Traditionally, the institution of the family is responsible for the overall socialization of a person, as it constitutes the first small community in which an individual evolves and learns to interact with other community members. Over the past century, due to economic, political and social changes, the traditional family unit has altered the way it interacts in relation to its members and with the rest of the society. Unfortunately, especially in Western societies, the role of the family has been altered and individualism is promoted as the basic principle having the primary role in a person's life. The institution of the family has lost its original appeal and power. This realization does not come as a shock, as it is directly related with the increasing divorce numbers or the lower numbers of civic engagement among other reasons that led to the diminished social capital. Parents and children reconstructed their relationships and directed their focus away from traditional family values. As an individual is taught from an early age that economic success and tangible rewards shall better serve him/her in the future, in comparison to healthy individual relationships, one tends to become less interested in creating a family, get involved in volunteer work, embrace humanitarianism or strive for social welfare. In today's fierce competitive environment, the focus of a person is directed towards a satisfactory monetary compensation during his/her professional career that is based on previous educational choices and academic performances. - Auto parts, VW Beetle Rainguards By : Anthony Fontanelle
The Ford Motor Co.'s annual shareholder meeting has always been something of a colorful festival that showcases a colorful collection of activists, displeased investors and other nuisance. Same people, same resolutions. But the latter have virtually no chances of passing because of the voting privilege of the Ford family.
This year was nothing unusual, save for the presence of Alan Mulally, the Ford CEO. It was his first time, and he was pushed at times to control his hilarity at the proceedings. One shareholder took the podium for the third time to tackle the company’s board on the perils of Islamofascism and recommended Ford to do more to end Iran's nuclear weapons program. For this reason, Mulally hard-pressed his hands to his face to hold his laughter like a Clutch kit controls vehicular noise. - Ford Workers Say Goodbye To Wixom Plant By : Anthony Fontanelle
Oakland County town is now preparing a life without Ford Motor Co. Wixom plant, the facility that gave the territory life half-century ago. Now, the town that seems to expire without Ford around has to try living on its own.
Built in 1957 when the Detroit automaker established Lincoln luxury cars in Wixom as a stand-alone division, this city in western Oakland County became home to Lincoln headquarters and a huge assembly plant. Over time, workers at Wixom Assembly built one classic American car after another, including the Ford Thunderbird and Lincolns that covered milestone vehicles like the Continental, the Mark III-V and the Town Car. - Al Pacino – The Legendary Hollywood Star By : dave (Author)
There is no arguing about the fact that Al Pacino is considered one of the greatest actors in the whole film industry. Born in a small town in New York, Pacino struggled through his initial years but finally reached a destination where only a few actors have managed to reach. Despite the fact that his core self is quite a bit different from the face the world generally sees, Al Pacino has had a strong desire to be seen and recognized, to be acknowledged, and to have a significant influence on people in his environment.
Al Pacino has been a "busy bee" throughout his life- energetic, restless, and forever on the go. His active mind has always been buzzing with ideas and these have made it difficult for him to relax, slow down, or take time to reflect and replenish him. He can accomplish much in short bursts but projects that require long-term commitment, stamina, and steady, persistent effort are not easy for Pacino. Pacino has often scattered his energies into so many directions and activities at once that he could not finish or follow through on some of them. He needs variety, change, and mental challenges and this fact is quite visible from his ongoing theater work. Nothing thrills Al Pacino like acting on a stage. Performing in front of an audience gives him a pleasure so powerful, so visceral that to describe it, he returns over and over again to a quote from Carl Walenda: "Life is on the wire and the rest is just waiting." - Affects Of The Tsunami On Tourism By : dave (Author)
It was December 26,2004 a beautiful sunny day. There were vacationers all over the gorgeous Asian beaches not a worry in the world. Certainly no one was expecting the devastation that was about to unfold. A tsunami struck out of nowhere going down in history as the most devastating earthquake killing over two hundred thousand people. The coasts of South East Asia had been building popularity with Europeans when this occurred, understandably so tourism dwindled down after this, but not for long.
Some of the more popular vacation spots that were affected the most were Sri Lanka, South India, Thailand, and Indonesia. After the tsunami struck most locations started planning ideas or events to bring tourism back. They knew the travel industry would be affected and wanted to make sure it did not last long.
Sri Lanka one of the hardest hit places came up with an idea they called “Io Vado A Sri Lanka”. What they did was get a group together of more than two hundred and seventy people consisting of the Italian media, tour operators and retailers and they toured the island. They visited all their interesting sites on the island. - Gm Makes Exec Exit Policies More Stringent By : Anthony Fontanelle
General Motors Corp.'s executives like Rick Wagoner, have a multimillion dollar golden parachute to protect them if the company is ever to be taken over. But this year, the automaker made its policies under which its top executives can receive severance payouts more stringent. Before they could get millions in takeover, now dismissal without cause is the automaker’s only way to collect.
According to GM's proxy filed April 27, Wagoner stands to receive up to $14 million in severance and stock payouts. Other GM top execs have similar exit packages. In the past, only a change of control at GM was necessary to activate the payouts. But under the automaker’s new policy, the executives also would have to be fired without cause to receive the payouts. Corporate governance experts said that revised policy is more reasonable to shareholders. - Fuel Economy Dispute Looms Auto Industry By : Anthony Fontanelle

General Motors Corp. lost $46 million in North America in the first quarter of the year. The red-ink quarter marked the automaker's most significant vehicle market notwithstanding deep cost cutting and a move away from sales of less lucrative rental fleet autos.
For GM, net income decreased 90 percent, to $62 million from $602 million in the first quarter of the prior year. The $602 million figure mirrors the automaker’s earnings restatement subsequent to accounting reviews. According to the experts in the industry, the vacillating housing industry is partly to blame for GM's reduced earnings. Defaulted mortgage loans resulted to a $305 million first-quarter loss at General Motors Acceptance Corp., the lending company partially owned by GM. - Alternative Fuel Cars On California Roads Increases By : Anthony Fontanelle
