  • Ten Rules Regarding Food
    (1) Always be mindful of the wholesomeness of food combinations:
Even alkali-genic and nutritious foods, when taken without regard to the rules of food combinations, can generate toxins in the body.

    (2) If you are not hungry, don't eat:
No other animals, except man, would eat without hunger-the main reason why they are not subject to the ailments which man invites by overburdening the digestion. When really hungry, we relish even the most insipid and unappetising foods.
  • The Four Basic Principles Of A Healthful Diet
    1. Eat a diet rich in whole, unrefined, nutrient-dense foods. Fresh, natural, minimally processed foods are the richest in nutrients, including the trace compounds that are critical for optimal health.

    2. Eat a wide variety of foods. No one food has a perfect balance of nutrients, and eating a wide variety of foods provides you with a wide variety of nutrients. Most people get into dietary ruts, eating only a handful of foods. Broadening your food choices provides you with a greater abundance of the vitamins, minerals, antioxidants, essential fatty acids, and phytonutrients that support optimal health. In addition, eating a variety of foods decreases the possibility of creating food sensitivities that can arise when the same few foods are eaten day after day.
  • Atkins Diet For You
If you live in the western world then there’s a better than good chance that you’ve at least heard about the Atkins diet. If you haven’t, you’ve either been living on Mars or with your head buried under the sand. This isn’t necessarily a bad thing either, since you might not really want to be following the trials and tribulations of all the latest fad diets to hit the market.

Surprisingly enough though, the Atkins diet isn’t a new fad diet, but has instead been around for over 30 years. If you’re always looking for ways to lose weight however, don’t take the length of time the Atkins diet has been around to be proof that it works. Nuclear weapons have been around for far longer but that still doesn’t mean they’re good for us.
  • Diabetic Diet
For the person who suffers from diabetes, their diet and eating habits can tend to become very restricted. Just how restricted depends entirely on how strong your diabetes is. If you’ve only got the mild type of diabetes, then your diet should only need to be controlled mildly. For the person who suffers from a very high blood sugar level though, and has a stronger type of diabetes, they will need to go on a strictly controlled diabetic diet.

This isn’t really fun, especially in the beginning when you’re first having to let go of all those foods that you’ve loved and adored for most of your life. If you’re a known chocoholic then you’re in for desperately hard times since you definitely won’t be allowed to have that much chocolate ever again. Don’t despair though, there are some diabetic diets in which you can have some small amounts of chocolate, just not in the quantities for which you’re used to.
  • Easy Low Fat Recipes
For the person who’s constantly going back and forth between one diet or another, there never seems to be much fun in their lives. I should know as I’ve been yo-yo dieting for most of my adult life now. I would go from one diet plan to another and stick with it only long enough for it to work a little. At which point I’d get tired of it and go back to my rounds of binge-eating. Naturally this wasn’t healthy, and only by a great effort on my part have I now decided to turn my whole life around. Instead of alternately bingeing and dieting I’ve now decided to go the healthy route and am now going in for sensible eating ideas and regular exercise. I’ve also resorted to using a few really tasty low fat recipes to help me in my new get-fit regime.

I decided to try out some easy low fat recipes because when I first started on my sensible eating plan, I found there weren’t really too many things that I could eat that were also good for me and tasty. I had always scorned any low fat foods and meals since they didn’t seem to taste very good, but since then I’ve learned a lot, and have found great ways to make easy low fat recipes that tickle my taste buds.
  • Food Guide Pyramid
You’ve heard about it when you were in school, but you really didn’t pay too much attention to it. There’s been some talk about it recently but again you just didn’t have the time to give your full attention to it. Now however, you have enough time on your hands, and besides your kids need help with their schoolwork so you’ll need to learn all about it. What am I talking about? The Food Guide Pyramid of course.

Sometime late in the early mists of science some genius or early nutritionist stumbled across the magical fact that humans needed food to live. This same person also deduced quite rightly that some foods were more important than others. And taking things one step further, this genius saw that even from amongst these categories the foods would again be divided into sections where some of these foods should only be taken in smaller quantities.
  • Food Nutrition Facts
If you’re a parent then you know just how important nutrition can be to your growing child. You’ll also know just how difficult it is to get that nutrition into your child. It’s an almost impossible task these days to get your child to eat properly, and it’s probably a good bet that you don’t get too many nutrition rich foods into you either. However, you do need to be aware of what a proper diet can do for you, and for this a guide to some food nutrition facts might just be what you need.

These days it’s just so difficult to get anything into your kids mouths unless it’s first been run through a vigorous treatment of processing. Anything where all the goodness has been leached out, or alternately where all the nutrition has been overwhelmed by other substances, is the type of food that you’ll find is what your kids want to eat. And when you’re in a hurry, this is the food that you’ll resort to eating as well.
  • Food Pyramid
For those of you who don’t know, the food pyramid is a carefully drawn up plan of exactly what the human body needs nutritionally. That is, the food pyramid is a guide to help us determine what we should eat everyday. It doesn’t have a set menu of food that you need to eat per day. All it has is a guide that can help you plan your meals so that you get the correct amount of nutrients into your system every day.

The food pyramid will show you the path to keeping yourself fit and healthy through a steady and healthy diet. Up until recently that’s all the food pyramid did. In 2005 however, the food pyramid as we know it was changed forever, and a more up-to-date food pyramid took its place. Now you’ll find that instead of the two-dimensional food pyramid we’re so used to, it’s become more three-dimensional. To show the added benefits that regular exercise will have on you, a figure running up a flight of stairs on the side of the food pyramid has been added.
  • Low Crab Diets
If you’ve dieted at least once any time within the past few years, there’s a good chance that the diet you went on was one of the many low carb diets that are around these days. Although the very first of the low carb diets, the Atkins diet has been around for at least 30 years, the trend for low carb diets has only taken off very recently.

This can probably be accounted for by some media hype along with a number of genuine success stories. And when you throw in a celebrity or two into the mix, you’ve the makings of a new fad. Everybody then jumps on the bandwagon which in this case turned out to be low carb diets.
  • High Fibre Diets
There are many reasons why high fibre diets are good for you, but the main one is that in terms of overall health and fitness, high fibre diets will promote only the best in you. Other reasons can be anything ranging from constipation, to hemorrhoids, to something called diverticular disease. These are all good and sound reasons for switching to high fibre diets. But one of the best as far as I am concerned is that high fibre diets can assist you in losing weight.

It can’t get any better than that really. A diet that’s not only good for you, but that actually promotes steady and regular weight loss, and includes most of the foods that I like to eat. I confess that I like my burger and fries as much as the next person, but I also adore fruits and grains, so I don’t have a problem with changing my diet to one of the high fibre diets.
  • Kids Nutrition
Being a parent isn’t the easiest job in the world, and it certainly gets even more difficult at meal times. What can you give your kids nutrition wise that they will eat? These days it’s come to being an almost impossible decision what with all the advertisements for fast foods that kids are bombarded with on an almost minute by minute basis. How can you compete with a greasy burger and fries accompanied by the latest must have toy included free?

I tell you it’s almost impossible and I had all but given up where my kids nutrition was concerned. It was so much easier when they were smaller and they had to eat what I set in front of them. At least then they got some nutritious food into their bodies. These days, it’s more along the lines of a battle field. I set a plate of delicious home cooked baked chicken in front of them and they just stare at it in disgust and tell me they want fried chicken!
  • Low Salt Diets
In my opinion salt free diets are amongst the worst type of diets there are. I like my food to be properly salted and spiced before I eat. This doesn’t mean that I liberally shake the salt shaker over my food every time I sit down to a meal. It just means that when I cook I add the right amount of salt for my food to taste good. If I go to a restaurant I taste my food first to see whether I need a little added salt, I don’t go and start shaking the salt over my dish the minute it’s put in front of me. Now that’s a bad habit and will ruin even the most glorious dishes.

Unfortunately, for people who suffer from certain medical conditions they have no choice but to stick with these salt free diets. These conditions can include high blood pressure or hypertension as it can be called, kidney disease, impaired liver functions, and also people with heart problems.
  • Nutrition For Pregnancy
You’ve been trying and trying to become pregnant and now it’s finally happened. You’re pregnant. Excitement hits at you, and you suddenly can’t wait to get back home and tell everyone the good news. Naturally enough you’re on the phone the minute you enter your house. You’ve kicked off your high heeled shoes because that can give you a bad back, and worse you might fall, so you decide to donate them to charity. Even as you talk a number of things are running through your head and your pregnancy nutrition is uppermost in your mind.

What can you eat? You know that some things are bad for your growing baby like alcohol and cigarettes, but what about other things. Will you have to cut back on coffee and tea entirely to take the caffeine out of your diet, or will you be able to get by with the first reviving sip of coffee early in the morning.
  • Religious Diets
Everywhere I look now there seems to be a new fad diet going around and the list is always never ending. Just recently though I came across a diet that at first I just mistook for a new fad diet but which in truth was a diet that had been around for sometime. It’s one of those religious diets and relies on many things to help you through the times when you’re on your diet.

Each of these religious diets is slightly different but most have one thing in common, and that’s the power of your own belief, and a great church support group. If you’re looking into religious diets you won’t have far to look as there are many books that are proliferating the diet markets. To get information though all you need to do is ask a church member.
