In this article, I write about the various types of stuttering therapies that are available. My background, I started stuttering at the age of four, it continued until I was twenty-two, basically ruining the eighteen years in between. I then fought very hard and eventually overcame the stutter.
According to latest figures, around one percent of people in the UK have a stutter. Stammering or stuttering can have a dramatic effect on somebodys confidence and it certainly seemed to my crush mine. It made me accept second best in life and stopped me living my life as I wanted to. - Go For Gold Not Silver
Growing up, I was always told that I should not accept second best in life. We only have one shot at life, as far as we know at present, therefore you need to make the most of it. This article talks about this subject.
At the age of around twelve, I was bought a five foot snooker table for my birthday. This was something I had wanted for quite a long time and I have to say, it is probably the best present I was ever bought and I quickly became hooked on playing the game. - Try These Anger Management Techniques
Do you find yourself becoming angry at the least little thing? Maybe your toddler interrupts your newspaper reading by climbing on your lap, and you become irritated. Perhaps your wife asks you to take her shopping, and you get angry because you were planning to go golfing. Learning some basic anger management techniques can restore a sense of self-control to your inner or external responses to situations like these. Even if you hold in your anger, it may not hurt others, unless they sense your withdrawal or unspoken irritation, but it will hurt you. Studies show that people who let anger build up inside tend to suffer more health problems than those who have less anger or manage it in productive ways. Many anger management techniques are easy to learn and practice, so give them a try before losing your temper unnecessarily again.
Anger Management Technique #1: Drain the Brain - Positive Mind, Successful Life
t took me a long time to realise the benefits of positive thinking. I had often heard people mention that if you think positive, positive things will happen to you, I used to think they were a bit weird. I now believe they were right and this article explains why.
Growing up through the difficult teenage years and into my early twenties, I felt very sorry for myself. I used to think I was the most unluckiest person in the world. I am Stephen Hill from Birmingham in England. I started to stutter at the age of four or five. My parents took me to a lot of different types of speech therapy, some in groups, some on a one to one basis. The kind of advice I was given to control my stutter or to overcome my stutter were varied. These are some:
slowing down my breath
costal breathing
prolonged speech
taking a deep breath before I spoke - Stutter Treatment
In this article I am going to explain some of the stutter treatments which are available. My name is Steve Hill and I myself have overcome a stutter problem, which ruined my life for eighteen years.
Speech therapy is the normal course of therapy people who stutter try. In my opinion this is useful, however has limited power as the therapists themselves do not believe a stutter can be overcome. They are therefore merely helping people cope and from my own personal experience the main advice given, is to slow down when talking and to take a deep breath before speaking. People who are fluent do not all speak slowly and rarely do I hear them inhale a deep breath before speaking. - The Word Can't Does Not Exist In My Vocab
I remember when I was growing up, my parents used to become vey annoyed with me when I stated that I could not do my homework or could not do other things I had been asked to do.
They would respond with the advice that I could do anything in life as long as I believed in myself and as long as I was willing to work very hard. The word, can't, does not exist in my vocab Steve, I sometimes find certain tasks difficult however always believe that I will be able to succeed, my father would say. - There Is Always Room For Improvement
When I was twelve my parents bought me a five foot snooker table for my birthday. This turned out to be the best present I was ever bought and I quickly became hooked on the game. My friends would regularly come round to my house for a game and when they were not there I would practice on my own.
After a few months a few of us decided to join a snooker club where we could play on full size tables. I was amazed the first time I saw one of these tables at its sheer size, it was twelve foot by six foot. We started to play and it was much more difficult to pot the balls on this much larger table. - Tips About Life Coaching For Free

I have managed however, to turn my life around and will explain in the article how I managed to do this. I hope you find it enjoyable to read.
As I was growing up through childhood into adulthood I felt that I was rather unlucky. I had a speech impediment (a stutter/stammer), a bald patch on my head which was the size of a ten pence piece, I constantly struggled with my weight (I was basically fat) and I am quite short for a male at five foot four. I looked at other people in my community and especially my friends and felt very jealous of them. I would often think and ask myself why I had so many issues to deal with. - Your Life Is What You Make Of It
This article describes how your life is what you make of it. If you are willing to work hard to reach your ambitions and goals, there is no reason why should not attain them. In my opinion far too many people try to take short cuts or are too willing to expect free hand outs from other people or have the credit card attitude of buy now, pay later. I hope you enjoy the read.
One of my best friends whose name is Chris turned seventeen around a month before I did. For his birthday his father bought him a very nice and sporty looking car. Chris was very pleased and showed his new present to all his mates including myself. He was unable to take us out for a spin as he had yet to learn to drive. Most people at some stage of their lives will become the victim of bullying. People may think that this only occurs at school, however a lot of bullying also occurs in the workplace and even by your local neighbours. This article describes how I have learnt to deal with these nasty people, by playing what I call the nutter card.
At school I was an obvious target for a bully. I had a speech impediment known as a stutter or a stammer. I was always struggling with my weight and was larger than most of my other classmates and I was the shortest male in the class. - Be Confident- Do Not Let Your Boss Drag You Down
People we meet and have to see on a regular basis can have a negative affect on your life and self-confidence, but only if you let them. I am a person who would get dragged down by any negative comment made from a friend or by my boss for example. This article is about how to deal with these situations and how to not let these people and their comments make you feel like a second class citizen.
A few years ago I met a client(Ian) who described a similar scenario to me. He had been very successful in business and had reached the level of director in the company where he worked. We were discussing this very subject and he admitted that he had an over-aggressive boss who I think was the chairman of the company. I can not remember the chairmans name, however for the purpose of this article I will call him John. - Life Coaching Information And Advice
In this article I write about how we can become content with life by learning to like ourselves and by appreciating what we have in life. There are far too many people who are comparing their lives to that of their friends and neighbours, and who then think that they are not good enough. This can make them become jealous and even depressed.
I have to admit that I was like the people I am describing above. I was not happy with the car I drove, or at the company where I worked, or at how much money I earned per year and even with the girlfriend I had. My friends seemed to drive much better cars, worked for much better employers, earned far more per year than I did and had much better looking girlfriends, sorry Claire! - Important Life Coaching Advice For Children
I have just returned from my twelve year old step-daughters parents evening. It was an interesting hour and I believe my daughter has learnt quite a lot from the experience. The teachers gave her some important life coaching advice which I will write about in this article.

Do you have a stutter? Does one of your children have a stutter? Do you know somebody who has a stutter? This article is all about the speech impediment known as stuttering or stammering. It includes information about stuttering and also treatments which are available to help people who stutter to achieve fluency.
Stuttering is a much larger problem than many people think. Latest research suggests that as many as one percent of the population of the UK has a stuttering problem and that around eighty percent of these people are male. - How To Cope With Nasty People At Work
I worked for many years in an office environment and would have enjoyed the experience if it was not for a number of over bearing and annoying colleagues. These people seemed to spend the whole day bitching and gossiping about other people which can make life at work very stressful and uncomfortable.
After leaving school I was excited that I was now entering into the adult world. This was certainly not what I saw as enjoyment. - How To Overcome Shyness
This article looks into ways to help people break free from shyness. The advice is based from personal experience and I hope it will provide inspiration to many people.
As a child and well into my teenage years, I was a person who was often referred to as being very shy. Even though this description was true, I always longed to be as confident and outgoing as everybody else. The problem was that I did not know how to gain this self-esteem and found socialising very difficult. - A Fear And Phobia Of The Future
My name is Steve Hill from England. In this article I am going to explain about how I have managed to turn my life around from one which was constantly living in fear, to one where I now look forward to the future. I hope this proves to be interesting and beneficial to anyone who reads it.
I was always the type of person who would be constantly worrying about many different aspects of life and who was seemingly always stressed. I could not find a way to break through from this vicious cycle and at many a time I wondered whether it was worth living at all. I have to admit that on many occasions I have gone to bed hoping that I would die in my sleep and therefore would not wake up. - The Search For A Stammering Cure
Anybody who has to live life with a stammer will know just how much of a hinderance it can make what fluent people see as simple tasks. Making a phone call, ordering a drink, going out with friends and attending a job interview can be very hard for people who stammer or stutter.
My name is Steve Hill and I am one of these people who have had to endure the affects of stammering. I am now very happy to report that I have been fluent for the last ten years and life has never been so good. - Live The Dream Today
Have you an idea about how you could improve your life but do not have the confidence to make that dream into a reality? Have you a plan that you hope to implement when you are a little older, possibly when you are retired? In this article, I write about a dream I had when growing up as a teenager, a dream I made into a reality when I was in my early twenties.
My name is Steve Hill and I was born in the second largest city in England, called Birmingham. The pace of life in Birmingham is quite hectic and the crime rate is fairly high. In saying this I am very proud to be a Brummie, the knickname for people who are born in Birmingham, and am very fond of the city. - Ways To Improve Your Lifestyle
Are you looking at ways to improve your lifestyle? Are you bored in your current role of employment? Do you think you could be achieving a lot more than you are at the moment? Are you seeking a new challenge? In this article, I give advice on how people can go about improving their lifestyle, this advice is based from my own personal experiences.
I believe that we should always be looking into ways of expanding our knowledge and should never just accept second best. The brain is very powerful and loves to be set a new challenge or to a learn a new task. It is what keeps it alive and ticking over. I am sure that we have all heard of the phrase, I think this job is making me brain dead. This is where someone has a role in employment that is not challenging them or their brain, and this can lead them into a state of boredom and even depression. Their mind and brains are desperate for something to get to grips with and something to test them. - Living Life To The Full
I am a firm believer that people should try to make the most out of each day that they are alive. We all have to die at some point and even though this may seem a little morbid it is true. Today or tomorrow could be our last day and therefore this is why we should be living each day to the full.
Each day I read and watch the local and international news stories which make me aware of some very sad events. People who are very young are dying each day in a variety of different circumstances and I am very much aware that I am not immune from one of these tragic events. No one can say for sure that they are going to live until lets say seventy years of age, most people I think presume that they will, which could be seen in some quarters as a good thing. Thinking positive they say is the right way to think, which I have to admit is something I also agree with. - The Fear Of Stuttering
I am someone, who from what my parents have told me, started to stutter when I was four years of age. I have to say that I hated having a stuttering problem and was determined that I eventually would be able to have the confidence to say whichever words that I wanted to, in any situation. There were you see a number of words which I believed I just could not say and I also found it difficult to talk when I felt under pressure. After living with the stutter for eighteen years, I finally managed to achieve fluency and life has never been so good. It is like having a weight lifted from my shoulders.
Many people who stutter find that it can, in a way, rule their whole lives. Every decision they take seems to be affected by the speech impediment. For example, I decided to leave school because of my own stutter. My life at school was made so much harder by being unable to converse fluently. In fact I used to fear going to school, this was mainly because I was scared that I would be asked to read out aloud from a book or would be asked a question in front of the whole class. I will never forget when I attempted to take part in a role play in an English lesson, I was a complete nervous wreck and had a terrible time. - The Stress Of People Who Stutter
Many people become affected by different levels of stress. This stress may be caused by worrying about money, work, relationships, health, family, holidays, moving house or many other daily issues. For certain people who live life with a stuttering problem, stress can have an altogether different meaning. As well as worrying about all of the above issues they have many other things to stress about, things that fluent people just take for granted and see as very simple tasks/events.
I will take as an example a young man who is eighteen years of age, I will call him Peter. Peter has had a problem with his speech for as long as he can remember and has what is known as a stutter or stammer. Despite attending regular speech therapy classes, Peter has continued to be affected by this form of speech impediment and is starting to become very concerned about the future. - Smoking Kills So Quit Today
Do you smoke cigarettes? Are you thinking of quitting smoking? In this article I write about the benefits of stopping smoking, not just for the smokers themselves but also their family and friends.
When people are quite young they do not really think too much about death, well most of them don't anyway. A lot of these young people will start to smoke cigarettes and even though they are warned and read about the dangers of smoking, seem not to care or worry about them. Before they know it they become hooked on these cigarettes and smoking becomes an essential part of their everyday lives, where it is likely to have started merely as a social thing. - How To Overcome Your Fear Of Flying
In this article I am going to write about how I managed to overcome my fear and phobia of flying. I hope the information will prove to be an inspiration to others out their who have a similar fear. In a way I have actually turned full circle as I now really enjoying travelling on an aeroplane and only wish I had faced up to my fear and sought help when I was a lot younger.
My family used to always take their holidays in the same country that we live, England. I am not complaining about this however as I used to love spending time on the South coast of England in places such as Cornwall and Devon. Many of my friends would talk about how they had travelled to the Canary Islands or to countries such as Turkey for their summer vacation and about how much of a good time they had had. This did not make me feel jealous in any way and I did not ever feel that I was missing out. - Social Phobia And Social Anxiety
There are many people in the world who find it quite difficult to socialise. This may seem absurd to even suggest but I know from personal experience just how hard it can be to mix with people when you have certain issues which affect your overall confidence. I have now managed to gain enough confidence to enjoy the social scene after learning how to beat my own demons and life has never been so good.
The reason why I had a low self-esteem which led me to having a form of social phobia was mainly down to the fact that I suffered with a speech impediment commonly known as stuttering or stammering. Some might say that I should have been stronger and that I should not have let the stutter control and dictate my life in the way that it certainly did. I just found socialising and meeting new people as one big choir and I hated being unable to converse with them in a fluent manner. In a way I even felt sorry for these people having to talk to someone like myself when they no doubt would much prefer to talk to someone who is fluent. - Information About How To Deliver A Successful Public Speech
Now I am not sure about you, but the thought of having to make a speech in public would fill most people with dread. What if I am unable to speak? What if people think that the speech was boring? What if people do not find my jokes funny? What if I totally forget what to say? What if I start stuttering? All of these what if questions can be enough to actually make a person avoid or miss the speech. In this article I am going to write about how to deliver a successful and interesting public speech.
One of the most important parts of any speech is the planning. Knowing that you are fully planned and have practiced what you are going to say numerous times, will help you to keep calm on the big day. Start with bullet points on the main areas of the speech. Have a seperate small card for each bullet point, you can even take these cards with you on the day to have by your side just in case you do forget what to say. Then it is time to expand on these bullets points by writing a short type of article underneath the main point. - Effective Treatments For A Stammer
Many people are looking towards the internet in their search for effective stuttering therapies and stuttering treatments. The majority of these people have attempted the traditional routes of local speech therapists with mixed and in some cases little success. With the internet bringing the whole world together in one place, the people who suffer with this terrible impediment are able to find and choose an alternative stuttering therapy route.
I am Stephen Hill from Birmingham, not the one in America but the one situated in the heart of England. I am aware just how harsh life can be for people who stutter as I myself had a terrible stutter from the age of four. Some of you may have already read about how my life was affected by this problem for the next eighteen years. I am however a very determined person and at the age of twenty-two I managed to eradicate this stutter from my life and speech forever. It was of course a very difficult thing for me to achieve, I am not trying to tell you that there is some magic pill or potion that you can swallow which makes it go away. What it takes is a lot of hard work, that word again determination and a will to succeed. - Treatments That Help People To Control Their Anger
Do you feel that you are in need of some kind of anger management course? Are you looking into the different forms of anger management treatments that are available? If you have answered yes to either or both of these questions, you are not alone. I have first hand experience of the troubles that can arise from my own lack of control, over my anger. In fact my wife nearly left me because of it. Fortunately after seeking help I am now able to live without the fear of losing my temper and am back in my wife's good books.
I have always struggled to deal with any form of stress. A lot of people class me as "a stress head" and they would probably be right. After the birth of my second child, finances became stretched. I felt like I was letting my family down as I was finding it hard to support them.
