- Alzheimers Info To Make Your Life Easier
Probably one of the most difficult things you'll every have to do, is care for someone with Alzheimers. The reality that the person with Alzheimers is likely very close to you, only makes the task more challenging. Being armed with as much Alzheimers info as possible, and knowing where you can turn to if you need more help or information can make a world of difference. Being someone who cares for another human being puts you into a category with a high degree of burnout. It can be a stressful, thankless job. You need to stack the odds in your favor as much as possible. - Animals As Pets - A Healthy Choice
Animals as pets, seems a silly notion to me. The only animals I've really kept as pets would be fish. And many animal lovers who have pets, would probably disagree with me as to the classification of fish as pets. Whatever. While I enjoy other peoples animal pets, I'm sure none of them would classify me as an animal lover. A recent turn of events may however have a long term effect on my relationship with animals. Having recently caved to our children's long term lobbying efforts to have a family dog as a pet, it appears that I will be sharing my home with an animal of the non-aquatic variety very soon. - Arcade Games - The Good Ole Days
I remember playing my first arcade game in a bar in Montreal. It was 1981 I was underage, drunk, in a digital delirium, and the arcade game was the original Pacman. This was about the coolest thing I had ever seen. I'd always had a thing for games, even before the first arcades and arcade games sprung up. Even before computer games for the home PC. I used to subscribe to games magazines that never, ever mentioned the word computer. This was something totally new and sumptuously fascinating. Countless hours of my well wasted youth were spent in arcades, long after plenty of beer swilling at the local pub. Arcade games, and computer games have come a long way since then, but there's nothing like your first time. - Are Your Children Leaders?
Every just watched a group of kids playing and noticed the dynamics involved? If your a parent I'm sure you have. Some kids seem to get along great with others, some seem to play more on their own, some are nothing but trouble, and some seem very nurturing. Of course, whether it's a group of boys, or girls, or a mix of both will affect the group dynamics. - Astronomy Real Star Power
Astronomy has to be one the most humbling of all subjects to study. Just the thought of our universe, being like a grain of sand in a sandy shore of universes, is enough to make me want to crawl back under the sheets. Everything just seems so immense, andbeyond comprehension. Where does it end? Is it possible to get to the end of space? Astronomy tries to come up those answers. Like any science, Astronomy asks far more questions then it can answer. But, that's part of what makes it so fascinating. Ever since the first adventurer wondered what was beyond the nexthorizon, humans have been trying to expand their boundaries. Astronomy is carrying on that fine tradition. It's a pretty big horizon, and maybe one that doesn't end? Who knows, only astronomers of the future will be able to answer that question. - Basketball Hoop Dreams Hoopla
Basketball bears a distant resemblance to it's early days, when the basketball net wasn't a net at all but a peach basket. Apparently James Naismith the inventor of basketball, had a keen intuition for sports, but not quite so keen on physics. The obvious problem with the impromptu basketball net, was that there was no hole in the bottom for the basket ball to fall through. I sure we've all seen the commercial where one of the players has to climb up the ladder to retrieve the basketball after each score. The brilliant solution by Mr Naismith, was of course to cut a hole in the bottom of the basket. Seems like an obvious solution to those of us versed in the modern game of basketball, but wait the punch line is yet to come. The hole they cut, wasn't big enough for the basketball to fall through. It was however, big enough for a person standing on the floor to poke a broom handle through and push the basketball ball back up through the top. Funny how the obvious is not always so obvious to those at the time. In spite of it's somewhat comical beginnings, basketball has truly evolved to one of the premier sporting events in the world. I bet James would be thrilled to see his little game today. I hope. - Beating Modern Day Pirates
Captain Jack Sparrow may have been delightfully entertaining, but his modern day colleagues are anything but. While no one likes having to think about the darker side of human nature while enjoying their favorite past time, it would be fool hardy not to secure your boat and ensure the safety of your fellow crew members. Whether your cruising the south seas, anchored in the north channel, or simply tied up at your home dock, there are some simple steps you can take to protect your boating bliss. - Boat Provisioning - The Floating Grocery Store
How do you get to the grocery store when your a thousand miles from shore, and a thousand and two miles from the nearest grocery store? The short answer is you don't. The longer answer will be presented here, and it begins with a trip down below to see what you've got stashed in the galley of your boat. Provisioning for a extended boating trip is no small task. If you forget something, there's no quick run to the convenience store to pick up a couple of things. Out in the middle of the ocean, if you can't catch it, or find it somewhere in the galley, your not going to eat it. Here's a few quick ideas to get you started thinking about boat provisioning. - Boating Clean And Swabbing Decks
Whether your sitting at the dock or floating in your favorite anchorage, there may actually come a time when your bored with reading the latest great paperback while sipping those boat drinks down. What to do then? Well, your on a boat, and as all boat owners know, there's always plenty to do. Starting with keeping the boat clean, here's a few tips, tricks, and handy nautical hints for keeping your SS ---insert boat name--- sparkling like new. - Boating With Rover
Two legged sailors are definitely in the majority, but the four legged (or more) variety shouldn't be forgotten about. I'm talking about boating with pets of course. For those that share a passion for both boating and being a pet owner, it would be unthinkable to try andseparate the two. So, here are a few thoughts on how to make Rover and Rover's owner happy boaters. - Broadband Phone: Are You Paying Extra And Getting Less?
There exists an abundance of service providers aggressively competing with one another in an attempt to win your business. Their offering great broadband phone services that you can use with that overpriced broadband Internet connection your already paying for. You can just imagine the plethora of plans their offering at very competitive rates, with features your probably not getting with your existing traditional phone company. In many cases, you can even keep your old phone number when you switch. - Buying A Dog - It's Easy Right?
We make purchases all the time. Walk into the store, pick your favorite, slap some money on the counter and head home. So why the hesitation when it comes to buying a dog? Don't worry, that hesitation is a good and healthy thing. It means your thinking. Much better than buying a puppy on impulse. We make enough impulse purchases for the little things. A new new puppy dog on the other hand, is a member of the family, and adding to the family is not something to be considered lightly. Here are a few points to mull over, that could make that future purchase a joyful one. - Car Audio Rock Star
Who doesn't just love getting into their car, cranking up the stereo, and screaming their favorite lyrics till their vocal chords bleed. We all do it. Doesn't matter, if it's a long or short drive. Even the most mild mannered of us enjoy the simple pleasure of a solo drive with your favorite tunes washing over you in your own car audio disco. In this world of constant and increasing responsibilities, information overload, bad news, and disappointment, we all need a place to escape for just a little bit. Even if I'm really just taking a mundane drive to pick up some groceries, I can be my favorite rock star till I get there. With the car stereo turned up nice and loud, I can sing at the top of my lungs, and don't actually have to hear my voice. Which of course is a good thing, as my voice isn't really meant for human consumption. Plus, it would just spoil the whole "suspension of disbelief" thing. Besides, some music just sounds better loud, through a great car audio stereo unit, backed up by great car audio speakers. - Ceramic Tile Countertops - Beautiful And Fussy
Ceramic tile countertops can remain great looking, if you know a few simple tricks. When brand new, ceramic tile has got to be one of the most beautiful countertop choices you can make. The vast array of choices these days in style and patterns, make it easy to find an appropriate tile for any taste, in any situation. While the tile is great looking, it is also very durable, and almost indestructable. What is not quite so resiliant though, is the grout that fills the gaps between the tiles. It will, over time absorb moisture, and stain. - Digital Photography Thru An Amateurs Lens
If you haven't taken your first digital photograph, or even heard of digital photography, then I really must congratulate you. You are truly a contradiction. Since your reading this article, you must be browsing the web, yet you still haven't heard of digital cameras. Apart from the computer itself, and perhaps the cell phone, photography has been more revitalized than practically any other industry in the digital universe. During it's early introduction, it was reviled by professional photographers, as being a sub par and mediocre technology. In other words, the picture quality was pathetic. However, Like any high tech toy these days, it has matured at an alarming rate, and the cries of mediocrity have been gagged and silenced. Everyone, even a multitude of pros engage in the sinful passion that is digital photography. - Dishwasher Tips For The Buyer
So, you think you need a new dishwasher, but you don't know the why, where or how. Lucky for you we have a few basic pointers as to what to look for in a new dishwasher. So whether you've never owned a dishwasher before or are an old pro at buying dishwashers, there should be a few handy tips in here. Let's just start off by saying, that you've made a great choice in getting a dishwasher at all. The modern models available are very water and energy efficient, plus have the extra benefit of being able to disinfect your plates and cutlery in a way you could never do by hand. - Dog Breed - What You Missed
Having owned a particular breed of dog in the past is a definite advantage, when it comes to picking a new puppy. Experience may either work for or against the breed of dog you owned before. But, what happens if you've never own a dog before, and your not sure what to look for. Here's a short but helpful list to get you started. I'm sure you'll be able to build on it once you've given it some thought. - Dog Breeder - Best Of Breed
A good breeder does much more than just put mom and dad puppy in a room, lower the lights, light the candles, pour the puppy catnip, and play a little Johnny Mathis music. That's only the beginning. They do their best to ensure the best of breed for their hopefully strong and healthy dogs. There are characteristics within every breed standard that has been agreed upon. Good breeders will also do their best to pick out good owners, that to the best of their ability will love and care for their puppies. And to that end they try to educate owners with helpful information about the breed of dog they are buying. Not an inclusive list, but things like diet, health issues, and immunizations are things that any good breeder should beknowledgeable of and willing to share. - Fabulous Celebrity Hair Styles You'll Love
Celebrity hair styles are glamorous, but how do you find the one that's right for you. One approach, is to bring a picture or pictures of the celebrity you have in mind to your stylist. Generally speaking a long narrow face is well suited to a wide style, while a round face will look better with a soft textured style. A good criteria to narrow your search is length, is your hair short medium or long. Curly, straight, or wavy are other factors to consider. The stylist can probably provide additional advice based on the picture and your own features. Be sure the stylist understands the amount of time you devote to your hair care. Celeberties may have a stylist at their beck and call, but all us regular folk have real jobs and lives to attend to. - Fantasy Baseball - Taking A Full Swing
Fantasy baseball, in all it's incarnations and iterations may seem a little unwieldy to the uninitiated, but it's really not that difficult to participate in, just requires a little time and persistence to get started. Many camps seem to have a myriad of rules, regulations and procedures to follow. However; it wouldn't have the following it does, if it wasn't easy enough for the average beer swilling baseball fan to engage in. Don't even get me going on the stats these guys compile, I don't know what it is about baseball fans that makes them so obsessed with statistics. Although I'm sure Freud would have some fantasy theory as to how it all works. Oh, how I do digress, on with the article, and less about my little obsessions. - Fantasy Football - Trouncing Your Buddies
Fantasy football fans will be scouring all the usual suspects for football facts, predictions, myths, legends and lies during the preseason. Not just because football fans are info junkies, but because they plan on trouncing their coworkers, neighbors, and in-laws in the next season of fantasy football leagues. Crazy fools that they are will probably find nothing but reams and reams of statistics. So unless they all received a PHD in statistical analysis during their drunken college years, they really wont be any further ahead then you my dear reader. Becuase, we are not going to be taking statistics here, instead we're unveiling the deepest darkest secrets of winning football fantasy leagues. And you my dear reader will be able to mount a masterful trouncing of all your coworkers, neighbors, and in-laws during the next fantasy football season. - Food Is Good Medicine
Nobody likes medicine, but everyone likes to eat, so maybe food is the answer. There's certainly no shortage of experts telling us what not to eat because it will make us too fat, too tired, and too unhealthy. And of course there is a great deal of truth to much of this. So, eating right can help us to maintain a healthy body. But food can be used to do much more than just maintain ahealthy body. It can also be used to improve a body, cure a body, and perhaps even prevent a body from becoming deathly ill. Here are just a few examples. - Gardening Grows On You
Gardening is good for you, good for your neighbors, good for your kids and good for your dog. Especially if you do it the right way. Gardening has been around for ages, and it's almost so ingrained into our genes, it's like an instinct. In the sense that gardening feels good to do, to dig, and plant a seed and watch it grow. It's kind of an analogy for what it means to being human. It just plain feels good to see something you've planted, mature and come to fruition as a living thing. Something mystical almost about gardening. Not to mention, there are the additional benefits of the after effect of all your gardening accomplishments. Astetically, there really is nothing more pleasing, warming and comforting to look upon then a bountiful garden. Whether it is rose garden, a vegetable garden,or just a garden of plants, bushes and flowers of all varieties. It touches a human feeling at pretty much an unconscious level. I feels just right. Even a little planting or gardening in an otherwise artifical environment makes the whole environment feel more natural. - Golf Equipment - Driving Or Duffing
Woah, keep the wallet in your pants big boy. We've got some explaining to do first. Basic golf equipment of some kind is a must for anyone looking to take up this ancient game. Golf equipment like a good set of golf clubs, comfortable golf shoes, and a roomy but practical golf bag are essential to start your golfing adventure. But don't go overboard here. Your just learning the game after all, and while good golf equipment is essential, there's no point in blowing a whole wad before you really decide how much you like the game of golf and vice a versa. And as with many sports, the ultra high tech, high performance golf equipment won't really make a big difference to the beginner or for that matter average golfer. After a few years, once you've achieved brilliance on the course, and are beginning to pass the average to above average skill level, then it's time to consider the more advanced golf equipment. - Great Games You've Never Played
Do you know what you're missing?
Some of the best computer games ever made are likely games you've never heard of. Created by individuals and small companies working in relative obscurity. They don't have million dollar budgets, some don't even have hundred dollar budgets. They don't have dedicated marketing departments, research analysts, sales teams, fancy offices, and cutting edge tools. They scrape together whatever tools they can, often discarded by the ultra rich game designers of big shiny game studios. - Hockey Rules The Hearts Of A Nation
Hockey north of the US Canadian border seems to carry more sway than any political, national or international moment. Hockey is far more than a sport to most Canadians, it's a catalyst for memories of our youth. Whether it's playing hockey on a frozen pond after the snow has been shoveled to the edges, or playing on the street in between cars and until the street lights come on. Hockey brings back crystal clear memories for most Canadians. Used to be mostly boys, but times have changed, and with the rise of women's hockey, many grown women for this and future generations will be sharing those same memories. And, that's why hockey means so much more than just a sport to most of us. It's a nostalgic reminder of a less troubled past, and a reminder of a happy youth. - Insurance Haters Anonymous
Hello, my name is Chris, and I hate insurance. My father hated insurance before me, and for all I know his father before him. More...Kind of a family tradition I suppose. I have insurance for my home, insurance for my car, insurance for my life, insurance for my boat, insurance for my kids, insurance for my health, insurance for my teeth, insurance for my prescriptions, insurance for my bank loans, and insurance for when I travel. Wow! It's a wonder, I don't have insurance for my insurance. Don't laugh, I'm sure I heard somewhere that there is an insurance company that insures other insurance companies. Someone must be making a killing off of all this. The only insurance I don't have these days, is pet insurance. Only because we don't have a pet, and the kids are lobbying hard on that front. - Jewelry Thru The Ages
Jewelry has been around for thousands of years. Vanity never goes out of style, and apparently neither does Jewelry. As long ago as 3000 BC the Egyptians were fashioning all kinds of jewelry out of gold. Gold was the choice medium for the jewelers of the pharaohs. It was rare, which of course made the jewelry it formed very valuable. Gold was also very easy to work with, so jewelers of the past could fashion fantastic jewelry even without the benefits of the more sophisticated tools of today. While perhaps not as intricate by today's standards, ancient jewelers fashioned some of the most magnificent rings, pendants, necklaces and bracelets ever. - Kitchen Cabinet Miraculous Cleaning
So, your kitchen cabinets are a mess, and you dread forking out all that cash for new ones. Well, maybe new ones are not what you need. The first place to start, may be with a thorough cleaning of the ones you have. A good amount of elbow grease may be just what you need to get rid of all that cooking grease and accumulation of muck from over the years. Particularly if all the drawers, hinges and hardware are still in good working order. A simple solution of soapy water and effort may do the trick. Make sure to wipe all the soap off before drying and replacing the cabinets. Removing hardware handles and pulls first, gives you a chance to clean them separately and an opportunity to remove any gunk that may have built up between the hardware and the cabinets themselves. - Kitchen Cabinets - Painting Adds Years To Their Life
So your kitchen cabinets are the most dreadful sight in the entire neighborhood. Your even embarrassed to have the neighbor kids over, let alone their parents. It's big bucks to have them replaced with new, and that vile cleaning job you tried on them just didn't do the trick. While there's one other thing you can try before breaking the bank to buy new ones. A new coat of good quality paint or varnish may just do the trick. Even replacing the hardware with something more to your liking can make an amazing improvement. That's what we did a few years ago, and it extended the life of our cabinets another four or five years. While we eventually did end up replacing all the cabinets, we were able to put it off until our bank account was a little more up to the challenge. Now, here's a few things to keep in mind if you decide to tackle a kitchen cabinet paint job. - Kitchen Countertops Can Last A Lifetime
Laminate kitchen countertops should last a lifetime, if you know a few tricks for maintaining and repairing them. Laminate comes in an seemingly infinite number of styles and patterns these days. It also requires practically no maintenance to keep it looking good. But like all indestructible things these days, there comes a time when the inevitable happens, and things need a little TLC. - Kitchen Remodeling From A Tropical Paradise
Having your kitchen remodeled is really no big deal, as long as you do it while your lying on the beach. Preferably a beach on a warm tropical island, with a pleasant trade wind keeping your margarita cool from the oh so scorching rays of the sun. More...Surely you must think I jest, I assure you however, I am serious. We had our kitchen totally remodeled a few years ago, while our three young children were all under the age of eight. Not a simple remodel, I'm talking serious stuff here. Old drywall (and walls) coming down, new drywall going up. New hardwood floors (the kind you sand with lots of dust), and old linoleum ripped up. New windows, new kitchen doors, new plumbing, new appliances, all new kitchen cabinets and kitchen counters to match. We even moved the sink and dishwasher with it's plumbing and electrical from the west wall to the north wall of the kitchen. In total, the elapsed time for the remodel, lasted about 4 weeks. So how do you continue to feed your young family and continue to live in a house whose most important room is in a shambles. - Learn Spanish Online In Less Than 3 Months
There are plenty of great reasons to want to learn Spanish. Embarking on an adventure to a Spanish speaking country, falling in love with a Spanish speaking partner, hoping to advance your professional career by becoming bilingual, or just for the excitement of learning something new. Learning a foreign and exotic language like Spanish can have many benefits. - Light House Poster Angels And Demons
A light house is a beacon of hope often surrounded by dangerous seas and menacing obstacles. To a sailor, a it signals a safe path to follow home. To the ancient builders of the original light house, they were a symbol of prestige and importance. The ancient Light House of Alexandria which was built in 3 BC, and towered near 400 feet, was one of the last remaining seven wonders of the world. Modern posters of these guardians are often surrounded by images of sand and beach that fondly remind us of vacations and summers spent around the water. With such a gamut of symbologies and remembering, it is no wonder that light house posters are such coveted pieces of art. - Magellan Gps Sport Trak Vs The Imperfect Storm
To say a GPS saved my life, and the life of my family would be a lie. I could however say, that my Magellan GPS Sport Trak was a reassuring tool during a real life threatening situation. And that would be the truth. More...It was only the second year our family had been sailing, and we decided to venture a little further from our home port. The perfect starter trip, presented itself, when two other family friends decided to take their two boats on a short weekend sail from Bayfield to Goderich Ontario. It's a pretty short distance. a couple hours sailing there on a Saturday, a stay overnight in different marina, and a couple hours sail home the next day. It also seemed like a perfect chance to try out the new GPS. - Microwave Ovens Need Love Too
Microwave ovens need to be maintained regularly, or there could be some serious consequences. Microwaves generally seem like simple and reliable appliances, but like anything that ages, things can go wrong with it. Any microwave oven that is getting older than say 15 years, should probably be checked. If you find that food is taking much longer to cook then usual, then perhaps it's time to have a professional service done. They can test for radiation leakage or any other problems that the microwave is experiencing. They can also make a determination as to whether the microwave oven should be replaced. Chances are, that any microwave of that age should just be replaced. They are pretty inexpensive items, and the newer ones are likely to have more features and conveniences to make your cooking experience more enjoyable. Just in case your one of those avid do-it-yourselfers, here's a warning. - Mineral Deficiency - Are You Getting Enough?
Mineral deficiency is practically unheard of for some, but not all minerals. Do you know which ones? Anyone who manages to eat a relatively sensible diet is pretty much guaranteed to not have have a mineral deficiency when it comes to sulfur, manganese, chromium or molybdenum. As a matter of record, no nutritional expert has ever documented a case in North America where a deficiency exists in any of the previously mention minerals. Too bad that can't be said for all the vitamins and minerals that our body needs. There are a few minerals you may want to give some thought to when it concerns your diet. - Minerals Your Body Needs To Know
There are seven major minerals required by every body. Do you know what they are, and are you getting enough? The seven major minerals are calcium, phosphorus, magnesium, sulfur, sodium, potassium, and chloride. While discussing all of these minerals in detail is beyond the scope of this article, there is room to discuss a number of them in some detail. Let's start with calcium. - Music Downloading - Legal, Legit And Fun
Music downloading is here to stay, it's legit, it's legal, and everyone is doing it. The internet is a disruptive technology, and music downloading was the first real poster child for all that disruptive behavior. Apart from a few unmentionable topics, music was and still is one of the biggest looked for and downloaded items on the internet. And just as well it should be. It makes perfect sense. It fits, it's convenient, it better for the artists, and in the long run, better for the consumer. The only guy it's not great for, is the big money middle men. But hey, they had their chance and blew it. More on that later. - Musical Instruments Make Better Toys
So many children's toys these days have virtually no value after a very short time. Musical instrument toys however have the potential to last for a lifetime. Not just from a durability perspective, but they are one of the few toys you can buy your children that can have a positive effect on them for the rest of their lives. Apart from the educational value, musical instrument toys can expose your children to the value of art and artistry through music. There are musical instrument toys for kids of all age. From infants to teenagers. Of course, at some point they stop being toys, and become real musical instruments. Apart from the biggest difference being price, the older your kids are when playing with musical instruments, the more likely the positive long term effects will be. - New Puppy - What You Need To Know
Previous dog owners are all very well aware of the unique bond that can be formed between master and dog. Previous dog owners could also tell you about the responsibility, the long term commitments, and responsible consideration for society and the people in it, when it comes to your dog. Of course most people, whether they have owned a dog or not, realize what a loyal and affectionate friend a puppy can be if treated properly and taught the difference between good and bad behavior. Choosing a new puppy, is not just a matter of the heart, but firstly a matter of the head when making this important decision. You need to logically consider things like how big the puppy will grow to, what potential health issues there could be, what the temperament of the dog will be, and how well that will fit into you and your families life style. Of the many important questions you should ask yourself before choosing a new puppy as a pet, probably the most important question is one you should ask yourself. - Pearl Jam - A Moment Frozen
Rock and roll posters run the gamut of utterly ridiculous, to vaudevillian hilarity, to visually arresting in their sheer and utter genius. While Pearl Jam Posters can be said to fall into this literary sphere, they are also an intriguingly blend of infinite energy and desperately prophetic soul adventuring. The sheer energy, and edgy grunge of PJ, is quite often reflected in the visually stunning eye artistry of every album cover. - Poetry Vs The Internet
Poetry is the mastery of words in all their variations and subtleies to express in an eloquent manner that which cannot be expressed in silence. Emotions of the heart, a looking glass into the soul, a way to make amends, and a way to build vistas exploring humanity and all it's relationships. Poetry is all this an much more. Poetry is also much less, and in a more simplified manner, it is only words. Just words. But used in such a way, as to make us think and feel about others, events and things in a way we could never have imagined. Poetry cleanses, fortifies and inspiries the reader, while at the same time fuels the creative passions and allows for cathartic emotional release on the part of the writer. Poetry is powerful, poetry is petty, poetry is loving, and poetry is hateful. But above all, poetry is human, it is a reflection of of the human experience in all it's glory and all it's shame. But, it's something else as well. It's words. - Puppies As Pets - Don't Forget About
Bringing a new puppy into your home is one of the most exciting moments in you and your families life. There are several important things you should consider before bringing the little guy home, or even before making a decision to buy a puppy dog in the first place. Here are a couple of things to think about. - Religion For Non Believers
Religion for me has been a bewildering and reluctant adversary. For the longest time religion meant belief in some strangers prescription for salvation. As one matures and questions their life and the role of religion in it, certain sticking points become clear. Why so many different perceptions of religion? Why so many different versions of religion? Why so much mutual exclusivity of the various religion doctrines? Belief in one religion shouldn't automatically exclude an individual from believing or practicing in another. That's ridiculous. The different and varying threads in the spirituality of religion have far more in common then their proponents would care to admit to. It's almost as if their saying that you must believe in everything that I say. No picking and choosing, just believe in all, or else your out. And it's not just the zealots, it seems to be a persuasive thread among most religions. - Sailing Adventures
Sailing is an activity like no other. It can change so much from one day to the next, since it really depends on the weather. Big waves with no wind, big wind with no waves, no wind and no waves, or big wind and big waves will all provide a very different experience for thesailor . If you've only ever sailed one time, then chances are very good, that the next time you go out it will be a totally different experience. The trick, is to do enough sailing that you have a good feel for sailing in all types of conditions. - Seasickness Cures And Strategies
Ever find your self leaning over the low side of a boat offering your previously digested lunch to King Neptune while he slaps your face with a few salty waves? No? You just don't know what your missing. Can't say that I have either, and that's just fine with me. One of the things everyone worries about on their first trip, or when buying their first boat is whether they will get seasick. Not to worry. While I've never had to deal with it myself, I have had sailing friends who deal with it every time they go out on their boats. Not that they would ever let it stop them from enjoying their favorite pastime. Here are a few suggested strategies and cures to put your mind at rest if you really want to go boating, but don't have a cast iron stomach. - Soccer Kicks Back
Soccer has to be one of the original sports games every played by people. I can just imagine cave dwellers kicking around the old soccer ball. Or maybe it was a soccer rock? A soccer coconut perhaps? It's got to be one of the simplest form of sports play imaginable. I mean, really, I kick the ball this way and you try to kick the ball that way. Whether the ball (coconut?) goes more this way or more that way determines the winner. While it may be easy for me to imagine soccer being kicked around by a bunch of caveman sports enthusiasts, the earliest official record of soccer by played was in China about 3000 years ago. Wow, that's like 750 World Cups, if anyone was keeping track. - Solitaire Rules Half Life Drools
It's a popularity contest.
Solitaire is hip, cool, and way more popular than Half Life 2. Don't believe me right? Well, the numbers don't lie. According to two of the biggest search tracking tools on the web (Wordtracker and Overture) more people are looking to play Solitaire then Half Life 2. Almost twice as many. Wordtracker says that every day 5,031 people searched for Solitaire, while only 3,610 looked for Half Life 2. Overture says 3,095 searched for Solitaire, while only 1,180 searched for Half Life 2. And these days, Half Life 2 is in its prime. It's having its 15 minutes of fame. Within 6 more months, when all the buzz has worn down, Half Lifes numbers will drop. After those same 6 months, Solitaire will be just as popular as ever. It's a classic; it never goes out of style. It's retro, old school, and bleeding edge all at the same time. - Student Loans Are Free Money
Student loans don't really need to be payed back do they? Student loans apparently have one of the highest default rates of any demographic group. So high in fact, that the banks where I live won't manage the loans, unless the government guarantees the loan will be payed back. Of course the government can't really guarantee that a student will be responsible enough to pay back the loans, they just guarantee the they will pay the bank for the loan, if the student bails out on them. This of course eliminates the expense and hassle for the bank of chasing down students after the fact. It happens pretty often, and many of the times when a loan isn't payed back, and the the government tries chasing down the student, they aren't very successful in their attempt. - Television - A Drug For The Ages
Imagine a world without television? For many people worldwide, and in developing countries, no one owns a television, and the nearest television is likely miles away. Lucky bastards, or unfortunate few? According to the A.C. Neilson company, ninety-nine percent of households in America own a television. I suspect the one percent that doesn't, is by choice. Sixty-six percent of American homes have three or more televisions. Guess I'm a minority here, as we have only one. At least only one working, plugged in television. This next statistic, is the one that really gets me. On average the television is on six hours and forty-seven minutes per day in a household. Wow! That's almost like an entire work day. That's 250 billion hours of television watched annually by Americans. Probably something like 60 billion hours in commercials alone. Just imagine the kind of things that could be accomplished in 250 billion hours? Staggering isn't it? Now, if television is not some form of drug addiction, then I don't know what is. - Tennis Court Racketeers
Tennis is a great sport, but not without a few foibles. Tennis was a game I remember playing from a very young age. Not really sure, what prompted me to pick up the game, but my younger brother and I use to head over to the local public tennis courts quite a few times during our summer vacation. Quite a few very competitive matches ensued during those long summer days, and a number of them evolved into some very competitive and verbal matches. Ala John Mcenroe vs Jimmy Conners kinda stuff. Not the same tennis skill level of course, but some of the tennis style disagreements certainly did. - The Ipod Is Almost Obselete
The iPod, in all its aliases such as nano, and the shuffle are practically antiques. Functionally, it's really just a personal stereo, which was originally patented by Srirekam Jayram Purushotam in 1974. It first reached true commercial success with the electronics giant Sony in 1979 when they sold their first Walkman model called the Soundabout. The iPod is still filling the same need, but using newer technology to do it better. Many of today's generation of clones marching around with white ear buds growing out of their ears, have probably never heard of a Walkman. Much in the same way the next batch will have no idea what the heck an iPod is. - Total Fitness Is Easier Then You Think
While total fitness may sound like a huge commitment require hours and hours of exercise time, it's really not. What it is really about is balance. Not the balance beam kind of balance, but more the balanced nutrition kind of balance. It means doing a variety of different exercise that have different goals in mind. Instead of just focusing on muscle mass, orcardio, or flexibility, total fitness means devoting a little time to each of these categories. While chances are that a single focused workout will have components of all these categories, the single focused work out really only focuses heavily on one thing. Total fitness workouts however are great for preparing you physically and mentally for participating in a wider range of sports and physical activities. - Vasectomy - What You Need To Know, But Don't
If you are considering having a vasectomy, and under the impression that the procedure can always be reversed at a later date, there is something you should know. Not every doctor considers the procedure reversible. If you even think there is a slight chance you may want to have children in the future then you should be considering other forms of birth control. - Vitamin Overdose - Too Much Of A Good Thing
We've all heard about vitamin deficiencies, but what about vitamin megadoses. There can be too much of a good thing. Were all well aware of how important it is to get enough vitamins. Just ask any grade school kid what happens when you don't getenough vitamin C. They'll tell you tales of scurvy with the original explorers, and how their teeth fell out, and other gross stuff. But, it's also quite easy these days take too many vitamins, with serious consequences. We always seem to assume that if 3 tables a day of wonder vitamin xzy is good for us, than 10 tablets must be even better. Right? Wrong! There can be some serious consequences for taking megadoses of vitamins. The scary part, is there is no really good guideline on how much is too much when it comes to vitamins. Staying within the recommended RDA for a particular vitamin is generally considered safe, but venturing beyond that, puts you in no mans land. - Water And Why You Need It
Considering your body is made up of fifty to seventy percent water, it's surprising how few people know why it's so important. Did you know that you can survive for weeks at a time without any food. I don't suggest trying it and I'm sure it can't be a good experience for those who have done it. But, things could have been worse. You would never survive that long without water. Without water, in just a matter of days, you will die. Obviously water is important, and the amount of water needed by everyone is different. It varies by sex, byweight, and my the amount of muscle mass vs the amount of fat you have. - Why You Think Foods Taste Good
Whoever decided that good tasting food (like chocolate) would be bad for you, and that bad tasting foods (like broccoli) should be good for you really screwed up. I just doesn't make a whole lot of sense. Usually mother nature is pretty smart when it comes to this kind of stuff. Don't you think, that evolution and natural selection would have kicked in somewhere down the road and reversed this little mistake. Just think of all the health care issues that would be resolved if broccoli tasted like chocolate, and chocolate tasted like broccoli. - You Can Make A Holiday Gift Basket
Tired of trying to find just the right present for that oh so important person in your life. Or even those not so important people in your life. Making and giving a holiday gift basket could be just the thing your looking for. So your not a real creative, crafty kind of person. It doesn't really matter. What matters, is that you know the people your buying gifts for. At least I assume you do. Why else would you be giving them gifts? Knowing that person gives you an edge, that no retailer has. You can put just the right collection of gifts together that will appeal to your gift receiver. - Your Best Doggone Choice
Your particular specific circumstances and your skills at caring for a dog are the single most important traits to consider when purchasing a dog as a pet. I've heard it said that there is no such thing as a bad dog, only bad dog owners. Seems to me I've heard the same analogy applied to children and parents. But, I digress. While some dogs have the potential for temperamental issues, it is rarely the dogs fault. The same thing could be said about owner temperaments. What would probably be more accurate, is to say that the temperament and needs of the dog do not mesh well with the temperament and needs of the owner. And, following along logically, since the dog didn't pick the owner, the problem must have been when the owner picked the dog. In short, pay careful attention to the needs of your self and your dog before making a decision.
