Do you live in the Chicagoland area but need something to do this weekend? If you do, read on and learn about some nearly free Chicago attractions that you just must see. There are hundreds of things to do in Chicago. If you have kids or just love animals, why not start with a visit to the zoo. Chicago has two major zoos. There is the Brookfield Zoo west of Chicago and the Lincoln Park Zoo in Northern Chicago. Both are highly acclaimed zoos featuring thousands of animals. Houston In A Weekend Houston is a fantastic city to visit with numerous attractions to keep you occupied. Of those attractions, there are a few that are must sees. This article will briefly hit on the places that you must go if you have a free weekend in the city of Houston. The first is the Space Center in Houston. This is the official visitor center for NASA. You probably recall the line from Apollo 13, "Houston we have a problem." Well this is where it all happened. Take a tour of mission control and experience simulators which will let you know what it is like to be an astronaut. Kids will love the space center and adults will become kids again. Los Angeles Beaches - Dockweiler Beach Los Angeles is an amazing city with hundreds of things to do. One of the most popular activities is hitting the beach. But what beach should you go to? If you live in LA you can check them all out but if you do not live in LA, you probably do not have that much time. Here is some information on one of the more popular beaches, Dockweiler Beach. Dockweiler beach is a three mile section of beach complete with a beachfront RV park. Visitors will find such niceties as showers, picnic areas, public restrooms and food vendors. Activities at the beach include bike trails, walking trails, skating, surfing and volleyball. If you do not have a bike or skates, don't worry, there are rentals available. If you have an urge to try something different, consider taking surfing or hang gliding lessons. Another great thing about this beach is that it is the only one in L.A where you can have an open bonfire. Los Angeles Beaches - Venice Beach If you travel to California a trip to the beach is almost mandatory. And if you are going to go to a beach, why not go to the legendary Venice beach. Venice beach is more than just sand and water. It is an experience. Read on and learn about what makes Venice beach so special. Venice beach is best known for its artisans and colorful street performers. It is like an outdoor circus that is run year round. See guitar players on roller-skates, dancers, comedians, musicians and more. Come to the beach to watch the performers or just to watch the other beach goers. Venice beach is the ultimate place to people watch. Los Angeles Beaches - Avalon Bay California has hundreds of great beaches that are just waiting for you to enjoy. If you are in the Los Angeles area, you should consider stopping by Avalon Bay. It will be a unique experience. Avalon Bay is a popular manmade beach located in of course, Avalon California. Avalon is located on a small island called Catalina Island just south of Los Angeles. To get to the beach you will have to take one of several ferries that serve the island. Once you arrive in the beautiful bay, you will find the beach to the south of the pier. Atlanta In A Weekend Atlanta is one of those cities that you can spend a year in and never see everything. So what should you do if you only have a weekend to spend in this great Georgia city. Well read on and get some ideas of places to go on your Atlanta weekend. One place is the World of Coca-Cola. Located in a local pharmacy you will find everything you ever wanted to know about the world famous soft drink. See all kinds of memorabilia, hands on displays and product samples. Its worth at least a quick stop. The address is 55 Martin Luther King Junior Drive in Atlanta. Houston Attractions - Space Center Houston Are you heading to Houston, Texas or do you live in Houston and are looking for something to do. If so, you should check out Space Center Houston. Its one of the many interesting attractions in this great Texas city. But what is there to do at the Space Center? There is quite a bit to do. For starters you can take a tour of Johnson Space Center and mission control. On this guided tram tour you will be taken to the famous historic mission control center, a space vehicle mockup facility hangar x and more. Next, check out the Astronaut Gallery. Here you will be treated to an exhibit of space suits. This is one of the worlds most extensive collections and includes suits worn by John Young and Judy Rusnik. The Astronaut Gallery is located just outside of the Northrop Grumman theatre so when you are done there, head inside and see a film. See the life of an astronaut shown on a five story tall screen. The film shows you the life of an astronaut from the time they are accepted into the training program up until they go on their first mission. Philadelphia Attractions - Franklin Square Philadelphia is an incredible town with hundreds of attractions that could keep any tourist busy. One that has recently been renovated and is worth checking out is Franklin Square. Read on and see what there is to do at Franklin Square. Franklin Square is a 7.5 acre park located in Philly. It was originally laid out in 1682 by William Penn when the city was planned out. It was renamed in honor of Benjamin Franklin in 1825. In 1837 it became a public park and it just recently underwent a complete renovation. So what is there to do at Franklin Square. Atlanta Attractions - Georgia Aquarium There are many great things to do in the city of Atlanta. One of the best and most popular attractions is the Georgia Aquarium. So what makes it so special. The Georgia Aquarium is the worlds largest aquarium. It has over 8 million gallons of fresh and salt water and over 10,000 marine animals. The list of animals is extensive with over 500 different species. Among those are whale sharks, sea turtles, piranha and more. The different species are divided into many sections. You have a coldwater section with cold habitat species. You have a Georgia section with a variety of local animals. There is also an ocean section with some of the larger species of marine life. A river section with marine life from such areas as the Amazon and also a tropical marine life section. Chicago Attractions - The Field Museum Whether you are a tourist or live in Chicago the Field Museum is a wonderful attraction that you can go to again and again. It is a must see attraction that thousands of people have enjoyed. So what is there to see at the museum. This article will give you some information on the Field Museum. The museum plays host to over 6 acres of exhibits. It has exhibits which honor and educate people on cultures from all over the world. The name Field Museum comes from the person who originally funded it in 1893, Retailer Marshall Field. Houston Attractions - Hermann Park Hermann park is the first public park built in the city of Houston. It was given to the city in 1914 by George Hermann. At the park you will find picnic areas, running trails, dog areas and more. It is a special place enjoyed by both tourists and Houston residents alike. So what is there specifically to do in the park. One place to go in the park is McGovern Lake. McGovern Lake is an eight acre lake with two islands which host migratory birds. Visitors can rent paddle boats and kids and seniors can fish from Bob's Fishing Pier. Los Angeles Beaches - Santa Monica Santa Monica beach has three and a half miles of sandy coastline. It is one of the worlds most perfect beaches in the perfect climate. The beach is cleaned and raked on a daily basis which helps make it a pleasant beach experience for tourists and residents. Read on and learn about several of the beaches attractions. One of the attractions is the famous Muscle beach. The area has recently been restored to its original glory and features chin up bars, parallel bars and various other forms of exercise equipment. It has attracted fitness fanatics since the 1930s and continues to be a popular attraction today. Philadelphia Attractions - Eastern State Penitentiary There are many interesting things to do in the great city of Philadelphia. If you are interested in doing something off of the beaten path and out of the ordinary, visit the Eastern State Penitentiary. It will give you something to talk about and will be an experience like no other. The penitentiary was founded in 1829 by Quakers. It was an old fashioned prison that wanted to reform its inmates through isolation and physical labor. At the time it was built it was the most expensive building ever built in the United States. Since it was built an estimated 300 prisons have been built copying its unique wagon wheel floor plan. It was a ground breaking prison in many ways. Over the years it has housed some of the countries most famous criminals including Willie Sutton and Al Capone. Today the prison serves as a tourist attraction as it was abandoned in 1971. Atlanta Attractions - Centennial Olympic Park Centennial Olympic Park was built for the 1996 Olympics that tool place in Atlanta. The park was built in a run down part of town entirely from public donations. It is a must see site in Atlanta so if you have some extra time to spend check it out. If you like music, try to visit the park at noon on Tuesday or Thursday between April and September. Between noon and 1PM on those days you will find live music. Local artists will be performing music ranging from reggae to R&B to jazz. You can either bring your lunch and enjoy the music or you can purchase your lunch from a variety of different vendors. Chicago Attractions - Millenium Park It can be difficult sometimes to find a place that the whole family can enjoy. One such place in Chicago is Millennium Park. It is located in the heart of Chicago and is open from 6AM until 11PM. Admission to the park is free and it is a great place to take the family. When you get to the park you should visit the parks welcome center located at 201 E Randolph Street. Here you will find a wealth of information on the park events and a map of the park. If you are visiting the park during the summer you can even take a free tour of the park led by a greeter. The tours are given at 10AM and 2PM. Houston Attractions - National Museum Of Funeral History So you have done all of the ordinary stuff. You have been to the local art museum, you have been to the space center and you have even been o see the Astrodome. Now maybe you want to do something a little different. But what can you do? Why not visit the National Museum of Funeral History. The Museum of Funeral History is owned by a funeral company and has the biggest collection of funeral artifacts in the world. It sounds like a weird place but you will probably find it quite interesting and will probably give you a few weird stories to tell when you get home. So what all is in this museum? For starters, you can find a civil war embalming exhibit. See how Dr. Thomas Holmes practiced embalming on the battle field and how he helped make it a common procedure in America. Los Angeles Attractions - 3 Great Beaches If you live in L.A you know that you have many choices when it comes to going to the beach. The choices can at times seem overwhelming. This article will give you information on three great beaches. Zuma beach, Sunset Point beach and White Point beach. Zuma beach is located between Westward Beach road and Broad Beach road in Malibu and it is open from sunrise to midnight. This is a popular surfing beach with powerful waves. It also has plenty of sand volleyball courts and is an excellent place to watch the whales migrate in the winter. Philadelphia Attractions - Liberty Bell It's one of those things that every American just has to see in their lifetime. The Liberty Bell is one of the most famous symbols of this country and remains one of the most popular attractions in Philadelphia. The Liberty Bell has recently been moved to a new home on 6th street. The bell is now encased in a glass structure that gives it a backdrop of independence hall and the sky rather than of the modern buildings that surround it. This new glass structure also includes interactive exhibits and other related artifacts to give you a full understanding of the bell's history. Visitors can also see a film made by the History Channel explaining how the bell became so important to this country. It is now a complete experience so even if you have seen the bell in the past, you can visit it again an get a completely new experience. Detroit Attractions - Fireworks At The International Freedom Festival Detroit is an incredible city rich in tradition. If you live in Detroit or find yourself in the area around the end of June you should check out the Target Fireworks. It is the most popular event at the International Freedom Festival. So what makes it so popular? First a little background on the festival. The International Freedom Festival was created in 1959 and has been a popular event celebrating the friendship between the cities of Detroit and Windsor, Canada. Originally the event was called the "Partners in Freedom" celebration and it was created as a joint celebration of Independence between our countries. It has remained a popular event with the Target Fireworks as the events highlight. Seattle Attractions - Pike Place Market If you are headed to Seattle you must check out the Pike Place Market. Okay Okay yes it is a fish market but don't let that fool you it is perhaps one of the city's most popular attractions. Read on to see what the market has to offer you. The Pike Place Market is actually not just a fish market. It is one of the oldest markets in the world with vendors selling everything from fruits and vegetables to crafts to well, fish. One of the most famous parts of the market and the place people most associate the market with is Pike Place Fish. This place is famous for the fish throwers. Come by and see some fish fly across the room. They put on quite a show. Next check out one of the many wine stores for a tasting or visit one of the many health food stores. When you are done you can stop for dinner or lunch at one of the many restaurants in the market . Even get a cup of Seattle's most famous products, coffee. No matter what your interests are you will find something at the market. Miami Attractions - Miami Museum Of Science & Planetarium Are you heading to Miami or do you live in Miami and are you looking for something interesting to do this weekend. If so you should check out the Miami Museum of Science. It is a great family friendly adventure that you will remember. So what is there to do at the museum? First off you can check out the interactive exhibits. You will find over 140 different hands on exhibits to explore. For example you can check out the Isaac Newton display which has several hands on exhibits exploring the world of motion. The Newton exhibit is just one of many. You are sure to find something that interests you. When you get done with the hands on fun you can head over to the wildlife center where you will find an extensive collection of lizards and birds of prey. Learn about these graceful and often aggressive animals. Its sure to be a hit with the kids. If you can pry them away from the lizards and birds head over to the Space Transit Planetarium. The Planetarium will have interactive demonstrations, multimedia presentations and laser light shows for you to enjoy and marvel over. Atlanta Attractions - Oakland Cemetery Atlanta is an extraordinary place for historians. It is a city that is rich in both history and culture. If you are a Civil War buff you will find Atlanta particularly wonderful. One of the "must see" places in Atlanta to take in Civil War history is the Oakland Cemetery. Located at 248 Oakland Avenue in Atlanta, the cemetery is home to the final resting place of many civil war soldiers and several famous citizens of Atlanta. It is also listed on the National Register of Historic Places. So what will you find at the cemetery? The cemetery is the final resting place for over 48,000 people. These people include civil war soldiers (confederate and union), 5 civil war generals, governors, mayors, golf great Bobby Jones and the author of Gone With The Wind. It is also home to 2 monuments honoring Civil War vets and is rich in gothic and classic art. See the incredible stained glass, ornate urns and incredible statues. Currently the cemetery is being revived by a 15 million dollar restoration project. The project began in 2003 and is expected to take 5 years to complete. Don't let that scare you off however because the cemetery is still accessible to the public and is quite popular. Austin Attractions - Governors Mansion Austin is an interesting place to visit. It is the capitol of Texas and as such it is one of the most important cities in the state. As symbol of that importance is the Governors mansion. Located at 1010 Colorado right next door to the capitol it is a sight to behold. The Governor's Mansion has housed every governor of the state of Texas since 1856. It was designed in 1854 by architect Abner Cook and was built in the Greek Revival style of architecture. It was completed on June 14, 1856 and its first resident was Governor Elisha Marshall Pease. Since this time the mansion has undergone many restorations and upgrades but has remained true to the original design of Abner Cook. The last restoration in 1991 was made possible by a $1 million dollar appropriation from the state legislature and an additional $3 million in private donations. Chicago Attractions- Shedd Aquarium Chicago is full of countless attractions that can occupy your time. One of the best attractions in Chicago is the Shedd Aquarium. This is especially true if you have children and are looking for a family friendly activity. So what is so great about the Shedd Aquarium? The aquarium hosts a large variety of exhibits. For starters there is the Wild Reef exhibit. Visitors will find themselves face to face with deadly sharks and eels. You can also experience a lagoon and a fishing village. When you are done with that check out the Amazon Rising exhibit. The Amazon is host to one thirds of all living things and this exhibit will allow you to explore them. See anacondas, piranhas, deadly frogs and more. Next visit the Oceanarium. Visitors at this exhibit are delighted with whales, otters and of course trained dolphins. This just scratches the surface of what is available. There are many more exhibits awaiting you at the aquarium. It is definitely a must see attraction in Chicago. Detroit Attractions- Charles H. Wright Museum So you are heading to Detroit for vacation or a weekend getaway. You are probably wondering how you are going to spend your time while you are in Detroit. You have countless choices when searching for attractions. One of the better choices is the Charles H Wright Museum of African American History. Read on and learn why you should add this museum to your vacation schedule. The Charles H. Museum of African American History is the largest facility in the world dedicated to African American history. You can find over 30,000 artifacts and materials including collections on the underground railroad, Harriet Tubman and Coleman A Young. The museum is constantly bringing in new exhibits to keep itself fresh. Some of the past exhibits include the: "AT&T Gallery" featuring pictures and artifacts highlighting architecture from different parts of Africa, "Unmasked! Stereotypes in American Material Culture" featuring stereotypical material about African Americans and "Peace Stools" featuring works of art made by 5th, 7th and 8th grade students. Because of all of the new exhibits the museum has something to offer anyone. Even if you have been to the museum a thousand times you will find something new when you visit. Houston Attractions - The Orange Show Monument Houston has its share of exciting attractions. You have fantastic museums, city parks and much much more. But what if you want to do something different? Well if you want to do something different, something off of the beaten path, you can visit the Orange Show Monument. The Orange Show Monument was created by a postman named Jeff McCissack. The monument uses castaway materials to pay tribute to his favorite fruit , the orange. McCissack started work on the monument in 1956 and finally finished it in 1979. He would pass away only a few months later. The monument was saved in 1980 when a group of citizens formed a non profit group to purchase and maintain it. Los Angeles Attractions - La Brea Tar Pits A trip to Los Angeles just isn't complete without a trip to the La Brea tar pits. If you have kids it is a must see attraction but it is a great place for anyone who is a kid at heart or just loves science. So what makes the Tar Pits such a great attraction. For starters the La Brea Tar Pit is a world famous fossil site. It is home to over 3 million fossils including wooly mammoths, saber-toothed tigers and giant sloths. The tar pits have been seeping tar out of the ground for over 40,000 years. Over the years animals wandered into the pits and became trapped and fossilized. This gives us a great picture of what the prehistoric Los Angeles area was like. On your visit you will learn about how the tar pits formed, what animals got trapped there and how the fossilization process works. It is a fascinating experience. Miami Attractions - Miami Children’s Museum If you live in or are traveling to Miami and have kids, there is one place you need to take them. The Miami Children's Museum. It is a wonderful attraction where you can take your kid to play and learn. Continue reading to find out a little bit about the museum and what makes it such a great place to visit. The Miami Children's Museum was originally founded in 1983 but opened up a brand new building on Watson Island on September 7, 2003. The huge new facility has under its roof galleries, classrooms, a gift shop and even a 200 seat auditorium. The purpose of the museum is to simply enrich the lives of children. It does this by offering interactive exhibits and programs designed to introduce children to art and culture. Newark Attractions - Newark Bears Newark is an exciting city with hundreds of things for tourists and residents to do. It is a city rich in history and culture. If you are a sports fan you might be wondering if there is anything for you. Well you are in luck. Newark is home to the Newark Bears a minor league baseball team. Read on and learn a little bit about the Bears. The Bears have just recently returned to Newark. The original organization left the town after the 1950 season having been sold to the Cubs organization. The new Newark Bears organization started in 1998 and would move into a new high tech stadium one year late. The 30 million dollar Bears and Eagles Riverfront Stadium opened officially on July 16, 1999. The stadium has a seating capacity of 6200 with 20 luxury suites, a party deck, concert stage and a picnic area. Its a beautiful stadium that has already hosted the Atlantic League All Star Game in 2001 and the annual Pride Bowl sprint football game. Philadelphia Attractions - Philadelphia Museum Of Ar Are you an art lover? If you love the arts and you are in Philadelphia you are in luck. Philadelphia happens to be home to many of the best museums in the world. One of those is the Philadelphia Museum of Art. Read on to learn more about this fantastic Philadelphia attraction. The Philadelphia Museum of Art was founded more than 125 years ago. Originally it included both a museum and a school but the school has since moved away to a new location. It was originally designed to be a world class museum modeled after those in England. This world famous museum features over 200 different galleries and over 200,000 different works of art. It is visited by over 1 million people every year making it extremely popular. Art lovers will be amazed by the extensive collection. They will find paintings from the Renaissance, architecture from around the world, Medieval artifacts, American Revolutionary period furniture and much more. Some of the artifacts of note include medeival spanish armor, Prometheus Bound a painting from 1618 and modern art from Juan Gris. There is truly something for everyone at the museum. It would take days to actually see it all. Seattle Attractions - Royal Argosy Lunch/brunch Cruise Seattle is one of the most beautiful and interesting cities in the United States. If you are visiting the city you need to do one thing. You need to take a waterfront tour of Seattle. There is no better way to take in the city. If you are going to take a waterfront tour you might as well do it in style by going on a Royal Argosy Lunch or brunch Cruise. You might be asking yourself why this particular cruise is so special. Sabino Canyon is located in the Santa Catalina Mountains . You can get into the canyon for free but you should know that there is a charge to park of around five dollars. Once in the canyon you have many choices of activities. One choice is to take a guided tram tour. On the tour you will be taken up and down the canyon and there is even a moonlight canyon tour during part of the year. It is a good choice if you just want to relax and enjoy the view. Albany Attractions - New York State Museum Are you heading to Albany for a vacation or just for a long weekend? If so, you have many choices when it comes to available activities. If you would like to add some culture to your trip, I would like to suggest you visit the New York State Museum. Its a great way to spend an afternoon or even a whole day if you like. Read along and learn a little bit about the museum. The New York State Museum is the largest museum of its kind in the country. By touring the museum you can get an idea of the history of New York State. Its exhibits aim to teach you about the culture and natural history of the state. One of the newest exhibits added to the museum is "The World Trade Center: Rescue, Recovery, Response." The exhibit tries to document and capture this historic tragedy. You can see rubble from the towers, a wrecked fire engine that responded to the scene and film of the event. Other exhibits range from the "Birds of New York" which shows you the 170 different species of birds in the state to the "Fire Engine Hall" which details the different fire equipment used over the years to the "New York Metropolis" exhibit which details New York's growth throughout the years. There are many more permanent exhibits to see and the museum staff is always bringing in fresh exhibits to keep things fresh. Albuquerque Attractions - Indian Pueblo Cultural Center The Indian Pueblo Cultural Center is a not for profit organization that is managed by the 19 pueblos of New Mexico. Its mission is to educate people about the rich Indian culture in the area. If you love to explore the culture of others, this is the place for you. This article will give you some information on what makes the center a must see attraction. The center has a number of different exhibits to fascinate you with. In the basement of the center you will find an exhibit that explains the history of the pueblos. It will take you from the prehistoric to the current times and displays pottery from the different pueblos among other things. Another exhibit at the center is the Pueblo House Children's Museum. In this exhibit children can learn about the evolution of the pueblo culture through the use of hands on displays and art. If that isn't enough for you there are native American dancers who perform on the weekend and of course a huge gift shop for you to purchase souvenirs to remember your experience. Wrap it all up with a visit to the centers restaurant to get a traditional pueblo meal and you will have had an incredible learning experience to remember. Ann Arbor Attractions - Ann Arbor Hands On Museum If you live in Ann Arbor or will be in the area and are looking for something to do, you should make it a point to visit the Ann Arbor Hands On Museum. Instead of visiting a mindless tourist attraction, why not visit an attraction where you can actually learn something. If this sounds like something that you would be interested in , you should read on. The Ann Arbor Hands On Museum has over 250 exhibits to both educate and entertain you. The exhibits are too numerous to list but I will name just a few. One exhibit is the Lights and Optics Gallery. In this exhibit visitors can explore the world of light including shadows, colors and even lasers. through the use of hands on displays. Another exhibit is Waste to Watts. Here visitors can learn how new technology will allow us to turn waste into usable energy. Learn how methane gas can be pulled from landfills which will reduce our dependence on other fuel sources. In addition to these exhibits there are countless others which are designed to teach you about a wide range of topics from math to nature to physics. Baltimore Attractions - National Aquarium In Baltimore Baltimore is a city with hundreds if not thousands of attractions to visit and enjoy. Most will entertain you but few will both entertain and educate you. One such attraction is the National Aquarium in Baltimore. It is proof that learning about nature does not have to be boring. Learn more about this aquarium by reading on. Housing an incredible 5 levels, the National Aquarium has numerous interesting and educational exhibits to visit. In this exhibit you can explore the amazing diversity of life that is present on the continent of Australia. You will be amazed at how animals have adapted to this often hostile environment. In addition to these exhibits you can explore many many more. Learn about fish, birds, invertebrates, mammals, amphibians and reptiles. The National aquarium is about more than just fish, it lets you completely immerse yourself into the animal world. Boston Attractions - Boston Duck Tours There are many many different ways to see the city of Boston, Massachusetts. one of the most interesting and perhaps one of the most touristy ways is by taking a Boston Duck Tour. The Museum of Questionable Medical Devices is run by a man named Bob McCoy. Bob McCoy is an expert on all sorts of medical oddities and insane devices. He has assembled the worlds largest collection of questionable medical devices. The museums collection is made up of both devices they own and those on loan from the American Medical Association, The Bakken Library, The St Louis Science Center and others. One of those devices is called the Battle Creek Vibratory Chair which would vibrate rapidly. It was painful to sit in but was said to cure headaches, back pain and was supposed to increase the supply of oxygen to the body. Another device is called the Shoe Fitting X-Ray Device. This machine would take an x-ray of the foot inside a shoe to get you a proper fit. Of course at the time of its invention the dangers of x-rays were not known. The castle is 3 stories tall and has 13 fireplaces , a grotto tavern and many more unique touches. Mr. Gulley truly went all out in building this structure for his daughter. He even filled it with antiques and other oddities to make it more special. When you arrive at the castle you can take a guided tour which will be led by Mary Lou Gulley. Mrs. Gulley is the daughter for whom Boyce built the castle. She will tell you stories about the building of the unique castle and about her father who regained his health while building the Mystery Castle. The outlook for the theater was bleak until a group of citizens raised almost 2 million dollars to save the theater from demolition in 1978. The state was used by the US Government to test and develop nuclear weapons for over a forty year period. It contains audio and video media as well as unique artifacts to tell the story of the over 900 nuclear weapon tests that were conducted in Southern Nevada. The Museum of Questionable Medical Devices is run by a man named Bob McCoy. Bob McCoy is an expert on all sorts of medical oddities and insane devices. He has assembled the worlds largest collection of questionable medical devices. The museums collection is made up of both devices they own and those on loan from the American Medical Association, The Bakken Library, The St Louis Science Center and others. One of those devices is called the Battle Creek Vibratory Chair which would vibrate rapidly. It was painful to sit in but was said to cure headaches, back pain and was supposed to increase the supply of oxygen to the body. Another device is called the Shoe Fitting X-Ray Device. This machine would take an x-ray of the foot inside a shoe to get you a proper fit. Of course at the time of its invention the dangers of x-rays were not known. It is an attraction that you are sure to enjoy it. The Mystery Castle was built by an interesting man named Boyce Luther Gulley between 1930 and 1945 for his daughter. Mr. Hulley came to Phoenix originally to try to cure his Tuberculosis. While building the castle for his beloved daughter he used stones from his property to construct an 18 room castle. The castle is 3 stories tall and has 13 fireplaces , a grotto tavern and many more unique touches. Mr. Gulley truly went all out in building this structure for his daughter. He even filled it with antiques and other oddities to make it more special. When you arrive at the castle you can take a guided tour which will be led by Mary Lou Gulley. Mrs. Gulley is the daughter for whom Boyce built the castle. She will tell you stories about the building of the unique castle and about her father who regained his health while building the Mystery Castle. It is an interesting tour and one that you will fully enjoy. If nothing else it will give you some stories to tell when you get home.
