- New Red Hot Chili Peppers Cd Sizzles
The Red Hot Chili Peppers are a band that has transcended the scope of pop culture , adapting to new trends while still maintaining their original funk-based style. Playing music for nearly two decades, the Chili Peppers show an unrepentant strength on their new album.
Dubbed "Stadium Arcadium", the new Red Hot Chili Peppers release is a double-disc powerhouse that fully showcases the range of this classic band. Totaling 28 tracks, there is something for every Peppers fan, from those who rocked to One Hot Minute in the early 90s to the new fan-base they have gained through such recent releases as By The Way. You can get a sense of the hormone-fueled music that was a Chili Peppers trademark in their formative years in such tracks as Warlocks and Storm In A Teacup. The bass lines laid out by Flea help to form cohesion to the CD, with John Frusciante fully tuned in and never disappointing with the guitar work. Anthony Kiedis' vocals remain on-point and can evoke powerful emotions, even though the stereotypical Chili Peppers non-sensical lyrics are as prevalent as ever. More recent Chili Peppers fans will be happy to know that the CD has plenty of the mellow, laid back Californication-esque tracks. Dani California, Tell Me Baby, and Wet Sand are some of the songs on this album that we will be hearing for years to come. - Construction Toys Lego
As a kid I was extremely lucky to grow up during a time when construction toys were particularly popular. In fact, I strongly believe that the reason why I thought later of becoming an architect has its roots on one of my favorite toys of all times, named LEGO. Indeed, the ancient Greek philosopher Plato wrote that the future architect should play at building houses as a child.
Being a construction toy, LEGO is a line of toys featuring colorful plastic bricks, gears, minifigures, among other pieces, which can be assembled to create models of almost anything imaginable. My brother and I have spent countless hours constructing castles, bridges, cars, planes, trains, building, ships, roads, or even robots with which we played around and were happy to exchange. - Hbos Lucky Louie Is Comedic Gold
HBO is trying something that they've never attempted before. While most of the serials on HBO involve dark, gritty storylines, such as those found in the mafia hit The Sopranos or the life-on-the-inside prison drama Oz, they've decided to take a step in another direction. Lucky Louie recently premiered on the station, and it's HBO's attempt at landing the sitcom crowd. Starring Louis CK, a semi-famous stand up comic as the man of the house, the show also features Pamela Adlon playing his wife and 5 year old Kelly Gould playing his daughter. The chemistry of the cast is excellent, with fresh and savvy dialogue that you'd expect from a Hollywood comedy writing team. Lucky Louie follows the life of a standard American family, but with some notable HBO exceptions. Gone are all the standards of decency that you would come to expect from a show that revolves around a family. The dialogue is straight-from-the-gut, and it will leave you holding your own belly from laughter. Touching on topics ranging from child rearing to sex after marriage, the show consistently provides punch-lines that will leave you in stitches. While the show has had quite the powerful start, there's only been two episodes aired thus far. - Does Postmodernism Exist Still In Architecture
What is architecture? What do we mean by Post-Modernism? Does Postmodernism still exist in architectural design? As Jameson suggests, "Postmodernism, by definition resists definition". If then postmodernism is difficult to be defined, on what principles can we judge if postmodernism in architecture is over?
Charles Jencks, among many architectural theorists, attempted to explain how postmodernism has shaped 21st Century's architectural creations. The words, syntax, metaphor, and semantics of architecture are part of what make architecture postmodern. Regionalism, historicism, new urbanism, these are flavors of the postmodern. Whereas Moore, Hedjuk, Yamashita, Tigerman, and Graves (to mention a few) are categorized as postmodern, in which group do contemporary architects like Santiago Calatrava belong? - The Aura Of Films
From the masterpieces of Charlie Chaplin to last year's mind-blowing blockbuster of "Sky Captain & The World of Tomorrow," the film industry seems to have fully realized what technology advancements can be created in relation to ticket sales, while studios straggle to manage and reinvent themselves by allowing the consumer market to explore new entertainment paths. Interrelating art, technology, and mass society, mix to uncover the entertainment gateways and constitute a rather fertile ground for one to examine the progress of art forms in relation to technology during the centuries by focusing on the powerful effects of a an exciting art invention, like the film.
Some actors refer to it as pure magic, some of today's film critics try to categorize it by using specific criteria, but for the majority of us, naïve as we may are, our favorite films have entered the sphere of myth. Numerous times we have entered theater venues, in our attempt to come closer than ever, to that young star inside us. All of these instances, consumers like me and you have found it hard to realize while crossing the exit sign that the dream world is once again over. It seems cruel that for the last two hours we have been trapped into an illusion, so sweet that seems almost unbearable to face reality and life as ourselves and not as one of those superheroes, we admire so. Technology has once again entered our lives, managed our desires, and made us admit that what we are getting is not enough. We ought to be better, do better, than ever before. The tremendous effect of the film industry has changed us all over again. Probably it's true, as we feel that we have evolved both emotionally and mentally by embracing this experience, but still we have a long way to go before we can admit that we are happy with ourselves. But we are happy, aren't we? - Dancing Your Way
I adore dancing! Since early childhood, I always admired the movement of professional dancers and my mother used to laugh every time I glued my head in front of the TV set, during a dancing contest or a dancing video. Then, my family had to endure the music playing loud in my room and me dancing around to the beat of my favorite tunes. In fact, professional dancing entered my life when I decided to registered myself at a local ballet dancing class where I was able to examine the type of dancing movements I wanted and learn how to move better. I remember that my feeling was that life was too good to be true.
But although I had to stop my classes, my dancing days are certainly not over. Today, every time I am given a chance, alone in the living room, or surrounded by friends at a night club, I enjoy moving my body to the sound of the music and dancing my way through towards the bedroom or the bar. What I find extremely pleasing is the fact that my friends enjoy the same kind of music and we always bring the beat wherever we go. What amazes me is the fact that I encounter dancers all year around anywhere I go and I am happy to see that regardless of age or physical levels, people enjoy dancing probably as much as I do. - New X Men Movie Rounds Out Series Well
The new X-Men movie, X-Men: The Last Stand, has caused quite the stir among comic book enthusiasts and the average moviegoer. While many rabid X-Men comic readers found some dislike in the film, someone who is just out looking for a good way to spend two hours can find some serious entertainment value in this trilogy-ending film.
X-Men: The Last Stand picks up exactly where the last film left off. Jean Gray, played by Famke Janssen, is dead following a confrontation in a remote military base. This leaves Cyclops, played by James Marsden, distraught and unsure if he can continue leading the team of mutants. To the delight of many fans, Wolverine is back, with Hugh Jackman delivering a performance well worthy of the series he helped form. Also returning are Patrick Stewart as Professor X and Ian McKellen as the anti-hero Magneto. New to the films are the heroes Angel and the Beast. These characters help to add a dynamic to the X-men, with Kelsey Grammar delivering a stellar performance as the Beast. - Abstract Art
Nonrepresentational or nonobjective art is not an invention of the twentieth century. A number of cultures, like the Islamic and Jewish, have developed over the centuries a high standard of decorative or non-figurative art forms. Today, abstract art is generally understood to be the form of art that does not depict objects in the natural world, but instead uses shapes and colors in a nonrepresentational or subjective way.
According to art experts, in its purest form in Western art, an abstract art is one without a recognizable subject, one which does not relate to something external. This type of ornamental art, without figurative representation occurs today in many cultures. As the modern abstract movement in sculpture and paining emerged in Europe and North America between 1910 and 1920, two approaches have been generally accepted to produce different abstract styles: images that have been "abstracted" from nature to the point where they no longer reflect a conventional reality, and nonobjective, or "pure" art forms, which do not share any reference to reality. A further distinction tends to be made between abstract art which is geometric, such as the work of Piet Mondrian, and abstract art that is more fluid, such as in the works of Wassily Kandinsky. It was Kandinsky who once said that "of all arts, abstract painting is the most difficult. It demands that you know to draw well, that you have a heightened sensitivity for composition and of colors, and that you are a true poet; this last is essential." - The Best Selling Brain Toys
