- Cooking Tips When Out Camping
While we were kids, my brother and I, had the opportunity of traveling around the countryside with our father and explore everything our home country had to offer to the three musketeers, which was our code name. Unfortunately, in most of these trips our mother was left behind as she had to work and we were given the chance to spend time with our father who as a nature lover took as almost anywhere our car and feet could lead us. These trips were our time together with our beloved father, who while we were young did everything in his power to spend as much time with us as possible. If time was not the issue back then, we tried to keep the budget under logical limits, so all these trips were made with our car that was carrying on its roof our specially designed and hand-made (by my father) tend.
During those camping times and since our mother was not near by to feed us, our father was apart from the designated driver and the leader of our group, also the cook that served us some of the best meals we have ever tasted; probably because we were really hungry by the time we eat. The truth is that I still remember the taste of his pasta and if I could go back in time, I would love to experience again the thrill of singing with my brother while our dad was smiling cooking his amazing pasta on our carry on kitchen supplies. - The Barbecue Experience
If you read the title and immediately opened the file thinking that this cooking method was included in the outdoor activities section by mistake, don't be surprised if we tell you that preparing your Sunday's barbecue festivity is actually a great outdoor activity!
Part of the U.S. outdoor living for decades, barbecue (also known as barbeque, Barbie, or abbreviated BBQ) has evolved from a method of cooking food, most frequently meat, to a social gathering and a great opportunity to exercise a variety of outdoor activities. If you have been present, even once to an outdoor barbecue extravaganza, you are familiar with the scenes. Kids running around, men over the heat and the hot gases of a fire, smoking food served on plastic plates, hot coals of charcoal ready to spread the scent of cooked food around, women preparing the dinner table and running back and forth to the kitchen or utensils area, people discussing, laughing, relaxing. What more could one ask for? Probably nothing, but the fact still remains that when people are asked to state their favorite outdoor activity, they seem reluctant to say "barbecue" since it is actually based on food preparation and does not necessarily involve any type of exercise. Well, one stop feeling guilty of barbecue. Especially if you come from the Southern or Midwest U.S. States, you should be proud of participating in one of the most important social outdoor activities of our time. - Barbecue Techniques
When was the last time you had a good barbecue? Here are some things to remember to help you come up with the perfect barbecue.
The choice of wood that you use can have some bearing on how your barbecue comes out as these impart different flavours to the meat. (Yes, unfortunately, your neighbors' complaint that their food has a taste of wood in it actually does have some basis.) In addition, some types of wood burn faster than others. Many suggest that the best way to barbecue is to use a combination of wood and charcoal to optimize smoke flavour and consistent burning. (Let's see what your neighbors can say about that one.) - Bring Your Imagination At The Table
