- Cancer - Causes, And Treatment
Cancer is characterised by unwanted, abnormal and lawless growth of cells in the body. A new growth or swelling in the body is called tumour. Usually tumour is of two types, benign and malignant. A malignant tumour ultimately turns into cancer. Cancer cells suck the vital nutrients from the body thereby causing death of the patient.
Classification: Cancer cells can start in any part of the body and each particular part of the body produces a specific and different type of cancer. Carcinoma is cancer of the skin, glands, or membranes; sarcoma is cancer of the bone, muscle, or connective tissue; melanoma is cancer of the pigment cells of the skin; lymphoma is cancer of the lymphatic nodes, and leukaemia is cancer of the blood. Cancer is neither contagious nor communicable. It is also not a hereditary disease. Mostly adults get cancer in their middle and late life. Nowadays children and young people under 21 are also vulnerable.
